  1. OP said their playing 2/1 so 2♣ is GF, so you may be committing to a 23 pt game. course may not be your fault , op edited post
  2. How often will these manufactured bids come up? 1/100, 1/1000 If you start alerting these rare possible bids pretty soon your alerting every bid because there is some chance partner could be bidding out of system. Once you alert everything you might as well alert nothing as it serves no purpose.
  3. BBO is essentially a club as far as the ACBL is concerned. No club I know of does anything close to what BBO does. to combat cheating. They should be commended not condemned. Hopefully the ACBL will revamp the recorder system or replace it, we will see.
  4. Switching is bizarre. There is no reason to expect east to have A♣ so that the switch won't cost. Even so west should continue with 2♦ to suggest a ♣ continution. Oh Gib doesn't signal, I forgot
  5. ACBL recorder system currently has nothing like this. I don't see why BBO should.
  6. I think where your playing a system which will bypass a 4-card ♠ suit to bid 2N (or even 1N) having responder showing 4♠ is a necessary evil.
  7. what about 3-3-6-1 still no raise and unless you have a splinter no bid with a gf
  8. That's forcing 1N. 2♦ could 3. Is probably 4 but you can't count on 5. Sure is easy to pass 2♦ looking at the hands but worst case for pass is missed 5-3 and playing in 3-3
  9. Often people use 2N here as takeout for minors. What are you going to do with 4 great ♠ over 2♠? Pass and double for Pen are your only real options.
  10. Darn saw post to late, saw this 7N play
  11. TD has access to chat log. I've seen TD's give warnings or even booting someone pretty quickly so can't explain your experience especially in ACBL events.
  12. According to Gib's specifications it does play Western cuebids. "Western Cue bid (GIB doesn't alert western cue with this name) " I don't think 3♠ would be a Western cuebid as opponent's haven't bid. But I agree 3♠ at this point should be asking not showing akin to 4th suit forcing but you are already game-forced.
  13. Chess is suited to computers. Go also but is more difficult. The problem with bridge is you don't know where all the cards are. Whereas is chess and go you know where all the pieces are. Bidding has improved considerably but still has a lot to be desired. When chess programs were starting to challenge masters, bridge programs were no better than beginners at bidding.
  14. One thing not mentioned. Gib supposedly plays Lebensohl after reverses. I still agree rebidding 3D even if sets up a force on such a ratty suit is wrong and 3N is better.
  15. 3♣ inviting in known fit assuming 1♠ promises 5♣ seems better
  16. bidedit is difficult to use. It comes with the files for the windows version of bbo. the url was on the bbo main page but has been removed. if you have already downloaded the windows file is on your computer already. search for bidedit.exe otherwise I may be able to email it to u if y send me ur email
  17. There is something to be said for 8-10 or KS method which I thought was 5-7 but is 5-8. Which method is better depends on the rest of your system. The main thing is to better define 1N and bid 1D with no other bid. More interesting is after 1D opening. KS advocates bidding a 3-card major on some hands, a no-no in ACBL. Anyways, is a more of a problem after 1♦ than 1♣.
  18. your hand is worth 7 tricks. Its worth 7 trick in NT if you bid 3♥ partner will often raise on 1, your hand still taking 7 tricks you contracting for 10 instead of 9. If you bid 2N or 3N partner will take his long suits into account. your hand may now be worth more than 7 tricks if there is a side fit
  19. Yes, I hate being asked. Playing mostly online has really cut down on my revokes . I think the only revoke over the table I've made in 2 years was from pulling the wrong card, which I noticed myself, so at least wasn't established.
  20. choosing a generic card will not give you a full disclosure card. There are some premade full disclosure cards already made which you can use as is but you must edit them to change the name of your partner. That probably fixes your problem in post too. Do this before play, can do during but. easier to mess-up. To modify a card that will give automatic explanations requires a program called bidedit. There is a webspace you can download some premade files including some of the cc's available on bbo as full disclosure full disclosure link
  21. I would play 2♠ to show 5th spade then partner will know declarer is out..Running a simulation should then be fruitful! If simulation reasons I have 2, will be displeased.
  22. At matchpoints NV with a lot of partners sure that would be true. but with at least one partner I'm gonna be pushing for game, sure a 5-2 is ill-advised, but with this partner I've missed game too many times not to make some attempt with 10 points. I'm at least bidding 4♦.
  23. I don't know it depends on your standards for taking a free bid opposite a passed hand especially if this is imps.
