  1. yes the default to pass when confused is ridiculous . should default to cheapest known fit if that is pass fine.
  2. DONT presents a problem, if your goal is punishing. All 2 suited bids hard but 2♥ is the worse.
  3. in acbl tournaments directors have access to time used by each player. If play is incomplete and one side slow directors often awards an avg+ 60% in mp not sure what it is for imps +4?. so what your suggesting is essentially already implemented.in the way bbo wants
  4. I presume using this method 1♦ promises 0+♦?!
  5. Copy and paste only work within the same file. Merging will work is a little tricky.
  6. hand GIB doubles 2♦for lead I have good diamonds so bid 3♦ at my turn. But the explanation for my bid is not of a raise, it basically shows any 1N hand. Now Gib bids 3♥ on 4 crappy hearts completely hanging me out to dry. thoughts?
  7. not to mention the possibility of a double for lead. (or inference from inaction)
  8. I noticed in the last set of USBC open, women's and senior team trials a fair number of pairs were using 1M-3M as a mixed raise rather than 3♣ (or for those playing rev-Bergen 3♦) Is this becoming a trend at expert level? edit Mixed raise = 7-9 pts and 4+ trump. or there abouts.
  9. Assume your also allowing 2♠ to be bid with weak 5-5 in minors. This is a difficult position to take unless opener likes on xxx, but either method will work. Option 1 inbetween: 1N-2♠-2N (likes ♣) - 3♣ to play (ambiguous could be weak just clubs) 1N-2♠-3♣ (doesn't like ♣) - 3♦ to play with 5-5 in minors Option 2 bid suit 1N-2♠-3♣ (like ♣) - pass to play (ambiguous could be weak just clubs) 1N-2♠-2N (doesn't likes ♣) - 3♦ to play with 5-5 in minors Note: I do not recommend this method
  10. Some people use 3♣/3♦ as natural to take off the pressure of the transfer bid. Weak Invitational and even strong are possible meanings.
  11. There are many ways to do 4-way transfers other than those listed. I'm sure each has its merits and a lot depends on your 1N range and rest of system and how things fit. After a 2♠ transfer you can use 2N or 3♣ to say you like ♣. I don't think it makes a bid difference which you use. Same with 2N as a ♦ transfer.
  12. You don't really have any defense so if the bidding gets high quickly you wont be able to sit for a penalty double. On defense your spades may all be ruffed. Secondly, again if there is interference it may be impossible to show your spade length.
  13. Weren't they cheating though?! Some have gone so far as to say, "F-N 2's unplayable without cheating".
  14. Why is Gib making a lead directional double? Doesn't Gib knows it doesn't listen to such doubles when deciding it's own lead! So why bother!? lol
  15. I think 16 boards is quite sufficient. That way you can do more challenges if your up for 32 or more boards.
  16. That there is such a wide divergence of views tells me it's close.
  17. Have to agree. I open all 12 counts I don't care how bad they are. I see this on bbo people passing 12 counts then always partner has 10-11 they of course pass along with opponents and you miss a nice part-score.
  18. Whats with the option RKCB without a trump King? Isnt that plain Blackwood?
  19. I disagree. 2♥ will be of no help in getting to the right contract. Gib is forcing to 3N, and likely 3N it will be. So Gib is saying 9 tricks in NT looks good. Well if 9 tricks in NT looks good lets play 1NX. Say we only get 8 tricks that's still +500 better than game!
  20. Gib may not like the choice you made, but Gib has the advantage of seeing all 4 hands! I would duck a ♠, next best would try ducking a ♥
  21. Hi I don't think doodlin ever mentioned Gib plays SAYC. That said as an experienced player I check the meaning of almost every bid for two reasons: Gib's version of 2/1 is different from standard and has some quarks thrown in. You have to be very careful with your own bids if they show a bigger hand than you have, Gib will invariably hangs you out to dry in an impossible contract or by doubling opponents in cold contract.
  22. Most people didn't open 1N on this hand I did cause i had 16 pts and didn't think i could describe my strength otherwise so 1N. So probably scared Gib out of game. One person opened 1♦ and same sort of Michaels auction occurred Where the auction differed was when Human player south rebids 3♣ or 3♦. That 3♥ is now the cheapest bid may be a coincidence but in any case now Gib always bids 3♥
