Fit, but will you let partner know it?
pooltuna replied to Echognome's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
1) why not! 7♥ ought to be about right 2) No, partner looks like either the 53rd or 54th card in the deck. -
I do one of rap the table twice with my knuckles, fold my cards and slap the table twice, bid 4♠, say "no bid", and last put a green card on the table.

YOU BID 3♦!!!! I didn't think you were allowed to show support when you have it on this group :)

How does one avoid 2 club losers if responder has xx or xxx of clubs? HL you don't that is why you are only at 55% to have good play. 55% is the odds partner has the A or K of clubs -
Should I stay or should I go?

1) You did splinter unless you are one of the players that uses 3♦ as a bigger reverse than 2♦ :) -

1) no special agreements on 3NT to me means serious ♦ wastage so I will pass and let him try to make it 2) does 2♠ show a minimum? If it tends to show 6 I like 4♠ in this auction to show this amount of xtras 3)3♠ is no problem as I would rather play 3NT. Over 4♥ I bid 5♣ in tempo at these colors -
Aren't you familiar with the hara-kiri TOX? :)
-
Yeah, if you want to play it that way. For me I prefer to play XX=this is our hand and any other bidding is non forcing

you are 55% to have good play if partner has 2 or 3 ♣s so 1♣-1♠; 6♠ is a plausible if unscientific auction. :D -
will you dbl with 5-4-4-0?
pooltuna replied to cyc0002002's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
this likes a reasonable action the alternative looks to be, bidding 4♦ Do you play 4♦ as forcing? No but then I don't whack weak 2 bids with trash either (i.e. a minimum opening hand with shortage in the opener's suit) -
REPEAT!!!... PARTNER FORGOT TO BID 2♦!!!!!!!

this looks like a reasonable action & the alternative looks to be bidding 4♦ -
X assuming the robot will actually bid something if my LHO passes. If the other 3 players are robots a good case for BW can be made.

NEW 2C response by modified steps
pooltuna replied to tseager44's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
usually the big hand needs specific information and needs all the bidding space it can get. Consequently IMO your scheme is sucking up too much space -
So you would rather show your Qxxx suit, instead of your KQJ98 suit? does seem like canape'

The obvious choices are pass, 2NT, and 3C. Partner was in the passout seat so could have a wide range of values. Nevertheless he will need to be nearer the top end than the bottom for us to make game which makes 2NT too much of an overbid. Pass is fairly risky as well as partner rates to be nearer the middle and 2H= would not be good so I will bid the conservative 3C.

Pass gets you the lead you want :)

1) T4 A♥ this wins most of the points T5 if RHO shows out of ♥ small ♥ to the T: allows you to set up ♠ with an entry if LHO wins or win the T and take an immediate ♦ discard 2) T4 Q♥ this is an acceptable start provided you trump a T5 ♠ return by RHO(both following at T4) high enough 3a) T4 ♣ ruff puts you on the road to the ♦ Finesse Asylum T5 A♥ you survive all 2-1 ♥ and 3-0 ♥ with RHO 3b) T5 finesse the Q♥ earns you passage straight to intermediate level hell where you are sent to "How to recognize a practice finesse" class for 6 months 3c) T5 Q♠ earns a trip to Novice land where Watson's "Play of the Hand" is required reading 4) T4 take the ♦ finesse ...see 3b) for your free trip itinerary AND THE WINNER IS; 5) T4 A♥ with an immediate claim at the end of the trick earning this month's CECO award

nfb and reverse
pooltuna replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Partner should realize you do not have ♠ since no -X and consequently 2♠ has to show xtras -
nfb and reverse
pooltuna replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Well at a minimum 2♠ has to show extras since you can't have ♠ or else you would have made a -X over 2♣ -
[hv=d=n&v=e&n=sa9873ht52daq52cj&s=sq5haqj9764d97ct6]133|200|Scoring: XIMP[/hv] Auction West North East South - P P 3♥ P 4♥ all pass Opening lead is ♣K T1 ♣KJ96 T2 ♠63K5 T3 ♠2Q47 Plan the play for the next 3 tricks or less if you expect to lose the lead. If you play this correctly you should consider yourself advanced (IMHO). There are gradations of possible lines of play. Players who consider themselves advanced or higher should wait a day or two before posting a line of play.

You want a format that will mirror the event they are qualifying to play in.

That probably isn't playable, unless you also play that 1D-1H-2C-P 2D could be on 4 (and is the catch-all rebid for opener when he can't rebid 2N). A better approach is to rebid 2NT on all weak notrumps that don't have five diamonds or club support. Then 2♦ can promise five, 2♠ can promise shape and extras, and 3♣ can promise real support. The downside is that sometime we reach 2NT without a heart stop, but when they haven't raised hearts that's a fairly rare occurrence. In any case, I don't see how it helps to be able to rebid 2♠ on a 4342 13-count. If responder doesn't have six clubs, doesn't have enough for game, and doesn't have a heart stop, what is he supposed to bid? Whatever he does, I don't see why that should be better than being in 2NT from opener's side. I would not play 2♣ in that sequence as GF. As such, you then have the additional bid of PASS as part of your descriptive responses? I am curious for anyone bidding 3♥ over the original sequence as to how they differentiate between a partial and full stop? simple; no agreement=full stop.

singlesuited minor hands
pooltuna replied to onoway's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
That would be good but many over a 15-17NT use it for a game-invitational bid showing 6♦ and less than 8 HCP :( -
Well based on the %age of online players for a particular country at BBO that are experts or higher. India will be winning and a near tie between Bulgaria and Turkey for second
