With Ax in their suit, you have no strong preference to defend. I vote with Wayne. Yeah you can make 4♠ and it is an easy decision to say you would X and bid 4♠ seeing partner's hand. You could also be walking into a double. All you really should know is that partner is a passed hand. So I blame the OP 100% for a bad poll :P

Pass is presummably forcing but I hate my hand and need to tell my partner that so... I stand up in my chair and yell "HARVEST TIME" (Actually I reserve this for occasions where the opponents are clearly overboard, treading water and screaming for an anchor)

Nevertheless adding noise to the opponents auction increases their imprecision and the negative X may be 3-4 or 4-3 in the majors. If I was barred from bidding 2♣ my second choice would be 3♣.

You've already shown you have a minimum opener and partner has shown at least invitational values and probably more since he didn't bail after 2♦. So bid what you think you can make...3NT

I prefer 2♣ to X or pass. It is imperative to compete and add noise into the opponents auction, while this gives information it more importantly makes their auction less precise and gives your partner reason to add to their difficulties.

Well if that is the case the blame clearly goes to system as South has no reason to think 4♥ has play...In retrospect the fault, based on new system information, becomes 100% North as he had to make a forcing bid which is clearly 2♠

I hate all the ♥bids. In fact I prefer X to 4♠ to 4♥. With a sure ♠ trick and really bad distribution I prefer X but can tolerate 5♥ because when MY partner bids 4♥ in this auction he is bidding his hand not mine.

I agree with these sentiments and this is also why I play 2♥ is forcing in these auctions.

Ugly hand you could be cold for slam but hard to bid. I bid what I think we can make opp a min response 4♥
