Well partner is captain and has asked me to express an opinion after 2♦. Given that I like ♥ and have a maximum then any non pass call will express that and other information. If I don't like ♥ it is my job to express it the only way I can by passing. So do you like ♥? B)
Flip a coin I don't see any great tactical advantage to either 1♠ or 1♦ on this hand so maybe it is best to try to confuse the opps and bid differently than you have on other hands
The choices look to be pass, double and 5♥. IMO 5♥ would show more than you hold. While double doesn't look too bad I think you need to let partner show just how good his original X was and as a consequence play 4♠ undoubled if necessary.
It is close but 64 with a major can be a strong hand if partner has the right cards. change my ♣ and ♠ and I would bid 3♦...when you have a license to steal...
Partner does not have much as players who bid 2♥ on this hand generally do not psyche. So he rates to have 0♥ 4+♠ 5+♣. It is time to break out the vest, boots, and whip to start punishing the bad boys :)
if you have a limit raise and partner qbids then if you can cooperate below the game level. The meta agreement should be to cooperate below game in auctions like this.
presumably your 1♠ bid shows 5. So 2♠ looks like the best lie available IMO. This is a really ugly hand for those who use 1♠ to show 4 or more and the -X to show 3 or less
with the 4♥ bid partner has denied any ♣ or ♦ control so it should be safe to pass. Partner's hand should look like QJx QJxx QJx JTx altho partner may only feel comfortable qbidding 1st round controls and so holds Qxx Qxxx KQxx Jx
1) while I have good distribution I want to slow partner down a little bit so I am inclined to call 2♠ 2) the chances for 3NT or a major suit game are not negligible so I will X
With a passed partner our chances for game are relatively low so I might have started with 4♣ to maximize the opps guessing. I am passing and hope I figure out which ♣ is best to lead
