  1. are lead agreements for the opps 4th best or 3rd/5th. In any event not getting a major suit lead is highly suggestive of not having a 4 card major assuming 4th best leads consequently LHO would have to be 3334. So I cash the ♦A at trick 2. I believe some have applied restricted choice to this situation as well.
  2. So what miracle bid do you have to replace it? 1♦ ? Well at least you have a chance to make that. 1♣(non Precision version)? see previous response to 1♦. 2♣? Now there is a bid to hate! Well I have to admit I am not too wild about 2NT myself but it may be the best lie. If partner transfers into ♥ either have an agreement that 3NT shows this hand (i.e. not a super accept) with the subsequent system effects or just take the transfer and hope for the best.
  3. Better to get in the auction with 1♠ than pass; 2♣ is not a consideration except at favorable For the first I have to choose between 1♠ and 2♣ and I choose the ♣ for this one. For the second I choose 1♠.
  4. it is close if partner is going to pass the hand he held
  5. an uncomfortable 1NT or pass look to be the choices and since I get to bid b4 my LHO I get to beat them to bidding 1NT :)
  6. tough choice after all the doubler might hold[hv=s=saxxxhdaxxxxcjtxx]133|100|[/hv]
  7. 2NT works for me. Partner will put us in game with 9+ or more. Of course many here will say that with 9+ or more and what is clearly a short ♥ holding partner would have Xed so this is a clear pass :)
  8. Q♣ appears partner has a light overcall and RHO had a penalty pass of LHO's reopening X
  9. Since you really have no clue what your LHO is doing and certainly no other clear option why guess? Pass partner's double
  10. 3♥ is barely tolerable and probably the best choice unless partner has a habit of hanging you then pass
  11. looks like a choice between 3♦ and 3♠. NV I would go for 3♦ and V I would try the riskier 3♠.
  12. Interesting points but i would prefer to hold a hand equivalent to a limit raise to bid 2♥ with this hand and this hand does not quite measure up for me
  13. Isn't this the definition of a DSIP X. I choose 3♣ as my response
  14. Is Ron the blind one with the occassional acorn diet?
  15. you bid 2♠ since systemically 2♥ is a nonforcing 6 card ♥ suit
  16. this is a clear 1♠ call if the other choice is X. X is not just about shape but defensive strength as well and this just doesn't have enough.
  17. I see, so holding [hv=s=saj8h863dakj4caj9]133|100|[/hv] and having his telepathy turned off (translation the ICQ server had a denial of service attack) he is supposed to guess to bid 6? This is not a double of a 4H opening. You've been playing in the buffalo chips so long you are starting to throw them around everywhere if you don't think this is a X of a 4♥ bid. I have to ask, no matter how implausible it is, what call do you suggest South make?
  18. I see, so holding [hv=s=saj8h863dakj4caj9]133|100|[/hv] and having his telepathy turned off (translation the ICQ server had a denial of service attack) he is supposed to guess to bid 6?
  19. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sk53hkdq5ckt86432]133|100|[/hv] East opens 4♥ WEST NORTH EAST SOUTH _____ _____ 4♥ __X P_____? Seeing some of the wimpy holdings that have been used to direct X preemptive bids how strong do you want South to be?
