Well i would not call BBO name on to it. I do live with it, but my partner was quite distraught. Because this was likely only done because the opps who complained are also tds in kangaroo games. it was the same td who once booted me out of a game because i took a trick with the king and his friend later finessed to lose a trick with the Queen. He taold me he adjusted -- because he can, just as he told me he he booted me because the other player plays his game very night. So, yes i will post it here because?: 1) it will warn people that this happens all the time. so they will not feel so bad 2) some of these tds might actually get an education.

So we were playing weak nt 12-14, and pre alerted. On the opposition were 2 bbo tds. the bidding goes p-p-1nt (alerted as 12-14)- all pass Hand makes +2. Next thing i know, we get average minus-- the td says for fibbing on 1nt. My partner had 11 hcp. He alerted the agreement, i passed as i had to pass with my hand. I told td that was not right. He said that was not a real life game. I need a reality check-- there are no rules in online games.

But the convention card is not mine-- it is belongs to a partnership, so i cannot write a convention card for others to use. I need an area similar to the profile area. Some players write SAYC in ther profile and their subsequent bidding will have the markings of polish club or acol. Others state 2 over 1, but what i really need to know is what type of hand they open. the other day a partner opened 1 diamond with absolute crap, whne asked he said-- I was in third seat, had to open. system is not really so importants as i really want to avoid playing with people who open a 4-3-3-3 in thrid seat with 8 hcp because "they had to open", or vene those who open a 3 lervel premtp with 2 side aces. If this area which i am talking about were avaible, I could eliminate a lot of heart ache. In fact, i will not play with anyone that says rule of 15, stolen bid diamonds and 1 diamond shows 4 simply because I know i will not underatnd their bidding.

Yesterday i was playing the web version, and I saved the convention card of a partner. It appears that only the old style card was saved, while I think that the partner meant for me to have the full fdcc with answers from the windows version. The said card does not appear whne i try thr windows versions-- ie using the feature-- look for other convention cards. Is the fdcc available and retrievable from the web version. thanks

Yes I was there . I remember being there for the 10,000 record. It happened to be the day when I first played the weak no trump 11-14. My partner, a notorious overbidder, just loved this weak no trump thing, especially since the 1nt was weak we *upgraded* the 2nt opening to 15-17. We also negleted to adjust the valus for responder, so yes, we were taking to 3nt with 10 hcp, routinely. The score was -120 imps when Fred boradcast that BBO had achieved a new record. I told my partner, IT is our score!, It is our score! Silly me, it was the logins and my partner and i did not become famous.

I have several of the bridge masters online versions, and I really like them all levels and i like it that i can acess them from different computers. Needless to say the LTPB is really good and my first introduction to bridge. I really dislike Bridge Baron because they do not have the variants of Bridge Conventions. But truly, my fabourite is Kit Woolsey`s Partnership Defense. The program on CD makes things really really easy.

In free games sometimes people delay to wait for a pending game to finish. Some groups share tds and membership. So you might be playing a game and get an invitation to play *goulash* or imps after this one is over.

People who bid badly should be automatically banned for 2 years. Players who smoke should be suspended for a week. After a third infraction, a lifetime ban. Players who cheat should receive a lifetime ban-- under no circumstances adultery should be condoned. People who drink or vote for Sara Palin , banned. Plus the people who do not floss-- they should not be allowed to play bridge.

Exercise is for health. If you are healthy, you do not need it. If you are sick you should not take it. (I think this is a paraphrase of a Mark twain quote) So, I do not exercise. Not for the sake of exercise at least-- I walk places sometimes and always park the car away from the places where people hit parked cars.

My 12 year old cat, having lost her kittenhood and lifetime companion was out of sorts. She got ill really quickly and i took her to a new vet as the regular one was out of town. I was fortunate to actually find a rather experienced and smart vet -- the treatment she prescribed was sufficient to return the cat back to health instead of requiring hospitalization and expensive procedure. I pampered the cat during her illness, and i think she liked it and now she is a retired cat-- sleeps quite a lot and wants to spend all afternoon on your lap-- but still runs around when she has to. Now she got really used to having her food served to her. she is very vocal asking for her meals, at regular times, but will not even get up to eat, eats from the bowl while lying lying down. But has yet to learn to play bridge-- she only kibbitzes me.

I love soda, especially ginger beer. But I stopped drinking soda 2 weeks ago. Diet soda actually makes me sick, especially coke zero, but i can drink several evryday. I like juices but that is too much sugar. I might start making my own ginger beer, it is easy, I made some before, to compensate for the sodas. And i am a heavy tea drinker. I truly do hate milk shakes-- I was forced to drink them as a child, hate it , hate it.

I am sorry, Uday, that, you have skirted the main issue. sniwas1 Sniwas, I do not understand what you think BBO should do. Maybe the guy eliminated offline pairs at 4 minutes instead of 2 minutes. It has happened to me that I was eliminated because I lost connection at that crucial moment, and one time when I was at a teaching table and the tournament does not pull you from a teaching table. The other day I believed i was signed up for a game and then i was not seated, the TD was puzzled too, bbo tds cannot pick and choose who to eliminate from a game. I know you have a busy schedule, but really not much was lost, play some at the main club or something. Even at paid sites sometimes tds are late, or their primitive software cause tournaments to assign pairs or movements wrong, and you might be in hurry to leave. Do you complain there? Let it go, if God spare life there will be bridge tomorrow.

But i think a pop up list should be included to save me the trouble of typing: Alert-- Stupid bid Alert-- Over bid Alert-- Under bid Alert- Misclick But i was quite amused yesterday when i opened 1nt as 15-17. I hated having to open it 1nt because it had a lot of aces and kings and no intermediates-- but i opened 1NT. The bidding goes: 1nt by me 2 clubs by lho 4 hearts by partner 4 spades by rho (ALERT--Psyche) (gee louise i was just sitting there with AKxx of spades-- he dont need to alert--) Double by me pass by lho pass by partner 4NT by rho (alert- Psyche) Double by me pass by lho pass by partner 5clubs by rho (Alert-- this is not a psyche) double by me all pass it was down 2 and i think we scored 75 percent. Now, that is excellent alerting!!!! :D

There are some advantages you get from playing at paid sites: You can pre-register by email You get your seat back The tds keep a lid on rude opps the customers keep a lid on rude tds There are disadvantages too. In free tourneys you get what you pay for. do not plan your life around it and when the td boots you for false carding after their frisnds complain, you take it in stride.

Both opponents see the alert, but not your partner. It is common for new players at BBO to think that your partner sees the alert because there are no markings. Just last week, some opps called the td, I tried to explain that till I was blue in the face. The TD seemed to be ignorant too and instructed the opps to report the cheating to BBO-- it was not a newbie td either. I asked other tds in the group to try to explain that to the td in question-- do not know if they did. But it was sure annoying to have the td "watching the hand" to see if there was damage. A waster of his time-- he could have played a couple more waltzes from utube in the meantime.

2 hearts, to say he has rebiddable hearts and a minimum hand. what is wrong with the spade bid? the guyt has 2.5 quick tricks and a comfortable rebid.

Players from several countries do it too, but it is more common for European players from countries where precision is the dominant system. I play some conventions which I pre-alert, and I tell opps about carding. I have an european partner partner who has told me not to pre-alert or state system and carding when the opps come from his country because his compatriots never do so. So i look at the nationality of the opps before stating system and carding. BTW, another partner from the same country told me the same thing the other day!!! But this is not restricted to precision or polish club, take the sequence 1h-p-4h-DBL or pass? The meaning of 4h can be different , especially if the opps are playing bergen raises. So my double there can have different meanings. Upon inquring, I was told mine was a stupid question, was reported to the TD and then booted from the game because the opps were regulars of the game. So I go graze in greener pastures.

Many a time one is punished byt intentional bad bidding, so i think there should be some kind of penalty. There is a frequent player at bbo tournaments who plays under multiple names, the profile with the same sentence and classidied as novice. He passed these monster hands and then doubles or the opps double not believing in him. I think that is pretty much psyching and doing it throughout the game to create spurious results. I have warned some tds about him, but the answer is the same, they cannot punish him for bad bidding , the tds are also unaware that finding 3-4 subs to play with the guy in the game is no fun either. But i think a visit to the game database will demonstrate he is some kind of villain.
