I was playing in a free bbo tournament. Opp interferes over my partner`s no trump, and since we play lebensohl, i inquired what the bid meant. The opp says-- no informations available, i asked for an explanation and answer changes to- see CC I click about, using the web version, and cannot find a cc, either the regular one or fdcc, opps profile say nothing. I told them to please explain, that i could not access cc. i call the director, and the diatribe continues about how **their cc has everything explained on it** the melee does not end until ine opps gets abusive giving the the td the opportunity to remove him from the table. now if in fact, a cc is illegible to the opponent, as was the case here, should the opp not be required to explain-- it was a simple thing -- the nature of interference over 1nt -- all they had to say was long suit or 2 suits, etc...

of course i love cats. i have many memories of my early childhood, but a most impressive one is of a brown tabby cat that had kittens in our back yard, i wanted to keep the kittens but eventually cat and kittens left. my mother never liked cats, so she got me a puppy-- the puppy was hit by bus when it ran outside after my father and i-- i remember returning home and the dog was lying on a towel. we moved a couple of months later, and we went to get another puppy from my mother's cousin-- i rememebr the date when that happened, my father called me to see the man walking on the moon-- i did not pay attention because the puppy had peed on the floor. that would make me less than 3 years old, and i can remember that. had no cats of my own till i was almost 30 years old. 2 of my runners were killed by dogs, so i keep house cats only. i am always devastated when i lose one of them, last year the vet was really worried when i lost the gray tabby to old age, he said well done i got the sick kitten from the pound. she was sick for 3 months and cost me a pretty penny, but as all cats, she has her own little story, including the fact that i had to teach her how to meow-- i thought she was mute-- her meow is strange, she is getting muscular and strong now and is almost a year old. she cries evry time she hears a car outside, hoping it is me coming back home. they are good company, people come and go, pets stay with you till they die,

I have never heard that. And the 1960 article by Mike Michaels on the ACBL website doesn't mention 3 suited hands. How far back are you talking about? actually i think there is such bidding in sj simons why you lose at bridge lol

Normal Game/Slam Frequency
babalu1997 replied to bd71's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Do you mean you got 11 game plus hands out of 24? You were lucky. Hands seem to walk in spells at bbo. So it is common for you to sit there helpless where the opps bid 3nt in row 3 times or 4 spades. If in fact you are playing and 8 board game, you can be easily done in by the cards, and can only hope for bad bidding opps. I have sat on 12 board games where not once I was dealt the average 10 hcp hand, more than once. Sometimes in the middle of a bad spell, I get 14 hcp, hey i am going to open, but, not being dealer, i hear 4 spades!!! I think the only way to win consistently is to have really sharp defense-- which i do not, my defense vocabulary is rather limited. You can keep average by bidding your slams and games correctly when they come by, and reapthe extras in defense. -
in brazil you can eat avocado icecream, and milk shake also corn icecream

kaplan passout seat
babalu1997 replied to babalu1997's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
yes i think that was the idea, run if you do not have the stopper. sometimes a trap pass is required because you do not have a suitable overcall or double. -
the auction is 1 suit-pass-pass- BALANCE I was readinf robert ewen`s defensive bidding quiz book and he had the following footnote: An alternative approach devised by edgar kaplan is superior... but has not achieved widespread popularity. It works as follows: simple overcalls, jump overcalls and cuebids are precisely the same as in direct position dbl is 10+b points and some support for all unbid suits 1nt is 10-12 balanced and does not promise stoppers in opps suit and is a protection bid in case partner has trap passed. 13-16,opps suit stopped bal, dble then rebid cheapest nt level 17+, dble then jump in no trump I know this is dated, and i am not that old but, since i do trap pass, i was wondering whether i should adopt this-- and yes, the long suffering partner will likely agree. my problem is this, i suspect kaplan did not use michaels or unusual not trump , or weak jumpshifts, and dont know how that would fit with the current scheme of things. should i use s different set of meanings for these bids in passout seat? thanks

this is well documented in the Amnesty international website. the pictures of people playing bridge in abu grahb have been censored and that is why google is leaving china. 2/1 has led, among other things to current financial crisis because freddiemac gave loans to people who could not repay because the houses were built so as to prevent people from sitting with the bathtub while playing at bbo. scary.

When I say Right Said Fred was too sexy for his clothes and the audience never heard of him. they also never heard "It`s Raining Men". such a pity.

Balanced 18-19
babalu1997 replied to Bbradley62's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
perhaps they are perhaps they are not in the category of losing bids. but, please note that i never stated that the 16-18 no trump open has been debunked. it can work if in fact the no trump chain and constructive bidding of your system is adjusted. i meant in fact to say that the player with the 16-18 no trump will issue responses that will not match my expectations. the 12-14 no trump , 14-16 are well and alive. and the 4 card major open, and even the min no trum 10-12 can work. each different system has a set of optimum deals and a set of losing deals -
maybe you can have a look at the walsh diamond convention, and perhaps move this to another thread. http://www.bridgehands.com/W/Walsh_Diamond_Responses.htm

i think a while ago bbo invited members openly who wished to become tds. i think that exercise was successful the overall number of free tourneys has increased the number of matchpoints tourneys has increased -- i like that particularly but i also remeber the time when tony stack was just about the only td offering goulash games and now there is planty of them-- while i do not play that there are large number of players who enjoy while in the past one who is not in a private club might find difficult to find a game, now there are sufficient choices and the tds who linger on tend to be those with improved tds skills nice

Balanced 18-19
babalu1997 replied to Bbradley62's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
what i do is this 1. i never play with folks who open 16-18 nt, i cannot comprehend their bidding, i end up passing and not playing 3nt or they raise me to 3nt and end in disaster 2. hand hogs they may well be as stephen said 3. One of the worst auction i was in was 1club by partner, void inclubs and sapde 4th to kq i respond 1 sapdes. three no trump-- guy had about 13 points, and sinleton sapdes. 4. another experience at bbo is when they open 2nt, i usually pass unless i feel partner can get to dummy twice. the other day i had kqxx in a major, passed 2nt. while butchering the 2nt, the partner says you have to raise, you have to raise 25 hcp. 2nt is now down 2 vulnerable, and this is all my fault because i did not raise to 3. best thing to do is to put the partner temprarily on enemy list and remove after the whole thing is over. the standards are bad -
sounds just like the trolls from the msn groups lols a couple of years ago there was an ugly bboer who got in all manners of trouble after an involutary vacation he is back and a well-meaning friend of mine decided to help him save his soul that is my friend`s zen thing, not mine. at last the friend reported that he has turned the ugly bboer in the nicest bridge player( if so , perhaps waterboarding must have worked) and says the ugly one wants to play with me. but i am not about to test it out lol

So, at bbo sometimes players talk about hands in open tourn chat. is it legal/ethical to draw inferences from that? these are duplicate players playing elsewhere thanks
-
why not something like a bbo tourn schedule the club publishes a schedule each game has a separate partnership desk you then enter your name when you are available if you get a match(by email), the pair is entered in registration section there should be a way for someone to look at your profile from the desk the online site swans had something where you can signup by email you click a link enter partners name and he receives an email also
