  1. Updating our system and discussing with my partner (5-card Majors): 1♠-(3♥)-?? Partner's suggestion: 1♠-(3♥)-?? - DBL: negative, (normally no can be with 3c♠ and a good hand. Bids 4♠ next - 3S: competitive - 4m: natural, forcing - 4H: Slam interest, Not 1st/2nd control H - 4S: to play (but not weak?) - 4NT: RKC - 5m: to play - 5H: Slam interest, with 1st or 2nd control H - 5S: Slam interest, with 1st or 2nd control H but 4 small ♠ My suggestion: 1♠-(3♥)-?? - DBL: negative, normally no ♠-support, but can be with 3c♠ and a good balanced hand - 3S: competitive - 4m: natural, forcing (or better control with S-fit and bid 5m to play in minor?) - 4H: ♠-fit, slight slam interest - 4S: to play (but not weak) - 4NT: ♠-fit, RKC - 5m: to play - 5H: ??? - 5S: ??? We don't have really any agreements for bids like 5H and 5S. Didn't feel comfortable about best meaning for 4m, 5H, 5S, 4NT (?), ... ...Your suggestion? :) :

  4. Changes done: - changed the name to bss2html - competitive bidding also works better - Bidding box only enabled after the bss file is opened I didn't receive any request for this program. This post is therefor to pop-up it up again. If you have a bss file and want to have a look at this program then you are very welcome to message me. I'll send you bss2html.html and bss2html.js and jquery.js. I tested it on my PC with Mozilla Firefox and on my smartphone with Opera. Probably it will also work with internet explorer if the html wasn't opened locally. So if anyone has a website on which he wants to put the html and javascript file then that can be done as well. Note: If you don't have a bss file, but want to look at the functioning of this html then I can also send you my bss file. (getting a good bss is the most difficult part)

I was South and had following other options: 1. Bid 4♠ iso 4♣, to play 2. Bid 4♣ iso 3♣, to show slam-interest with ♣ (partner bids 4NT to deny interest). - Question about the bidding till now: It is not clear for North if South has a good hand without ♥-control or a hand as above. Should North always continue with a ♥-control or only with extra's?
  7. Hello Kungsgeten, The reason for the issue reported in my previous post is: - _contested is set to False when ';' in bid - copies are set apart until paste, but '(' are already removed. => <a paste of a contested auction after an initial bid containing ";"> does not work because the program will not know it is contested. Note: It works if I include the contested overcall immediately after the initial bid iso in the COPY section. Suggestion: It would be ideal if there would be a way to switch off the contested flag in the bml language. F.i. add a parameter in the COPY command (NO_CONTESTED). This could then insert 'P' for the definitions in this COPY section instead of assuming that it is still contested. I could then COPY the same RKC module (with NO_CONTESTED) after a contested or an uncontested auction. Thanks, Koen
  8. I play almost no penalty DBLs, but this would be a penalty DBL for us. With a weak 2245 you could have asked the minor previous round or bid 2NT now; with 3244 you will probably just pass. ...The above comment was before seeing the 2NT bid. But over the 2NT bid, the DBL is still penalty for me (I guess most will play this as penalty).
  9. I agree that 3C is Clubs here; but I would take DBL as penalty.

  11. I'm creating an html file that reads a bss file. The name is bml2html.html (already wrong ;) ). It is a draft version (not everything will work perfectly, screens and code are not cleaned yet) , but if you are interested then pm me your mail id. I'll send you the html and javascript. (earliest next Monday). Some notes: - competitive bidding does probably not work. (I did not yet use it) - It is a bidding box and the comment is shown after the bid is made; another table is showing the bidding sequence and a popup with comment for every bid - there is an option to disable buttons for which no definition is found. - undo and reset buttons - it is best to first open the bss file before using any of the other functions (I'll force this in a later version) - it does not work in IE (issue with opening local files) - I'm testing it in Mozilla Firefox - I also verified a previous version on my smartphone with Opera Mobile (not sure if this last version will work on Opera). More notes: I didn't know html and javascript and learning them was one of the reasons why I made this...So any suggestions about my coding are also welcome.

E.g: 1C-(D)-1H = transfer spades & then copy not competitive 1C-1S followup module. This could be done by always requiring brackets for competitive bids. If no brackets are found then insert a pass? Maybe this is somehow intended by the above reported "issue" :) ?

  14. Thanks for the answer! Is this, e.g Python, changing the bml (or bss) file in a html-file by adding the tags and a lot of other things to get the correct links etc? Would it also be possible to create a web site that reads the bml file and get the correct bid description? e.g. with a program extension in html (java?) or with simple html code? (this sounds easier to me, but what do I know  ) Initially, I would simple create a local html app to use on my PC or smartphone. So, I don't need hosting or a webserver then?
  15. Some questions I have: - Does bidedit exist for smartphones? - I'd like to know how one could use an input file like bml (or another format) into a web-page. And then show a bidding box, after a bid is clicked then show the description from the bml-file, and adapt the bidding for the next possible (from the bml file or all possible bids). I have some old experience in programming, but not in web (html?) programming. I'd like to give this a start whenever I have time. Out of interest in this progamming and in having an application like that. Question: What is the best free tool for this? (and any web pages explaining this would also be welcome). Thanks! Koen
  16. What would 4S be? Isn't it a cue also and asks partner to bid a minor cue?
  17. That is why I opened 4♥ I'm not sure I would move with the North, but like you said it is a guess
  18. Can it be anything else then lightner after having preempted? North did lead ♠, South discouraged; then North switched to ♥Q; discouraged again It went -3 (bad) iso -4 (good) with sooner switch to ♦ and then South underleading ♥

  24. Thanks for the reply Note: We don't play forcing 1NT. Maybe it is best to have following rule?: After 1x-(Pass)-1NT...(2Y), DBL by responder is: - penalty if he did not yet deny a 4cY. - maximal, semi-balanced TO, if a 4cY was denied e.g: 1D-(P)-1NT-(P) P-(2C)-DBL = PEN 1D-(P)-1NT-(2H) P-(P)-DBL = Max, e.g: 2=3=3=5 1C-(P)-1NT-(2D) P-(P)-DBL = PEN (D length still possible because T-Walsh) 1S-(P)-1NT-(2D) P-(P)-DBL = PEN
