  1. It would have made the play easier because declarer can not guess wrong then because he has still Club A.
  2. It does not correspond to the alert I think everybody will. It looks perfect. I would also not pass, but I pass way too less at IMP's
  3. The play says that you made 7 tricks, and you say that opps made 10 tricks in a H partial and the title says small swing for BBO forum?2SX should have been made?
  4. Thanks all for the answers. Actual hand in Bold.I played this against Jack. That is my memory training (trying to know distribution of one hidden hand asap). I finessed and saw that I would have won if I played high. Analysing in Jack then showed that playing high was better (I think an expected score of around 200 vs 100 for the finesse). So I wondered how clear it was and if I should have found this. It is 2 against 1 for the finesse, but maybe the 1 has more weight :)
  5. [hv=pc=n&s=s764hakt72dk85ca9&n=s52hj53daqj4ct732&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1s2hp2s(constructive%20raise)p4hppp]266|200|IMP's[/hv] Opps play udca LHO leads ♠K: (South's play in bold) ♠K-2-3-4 ♠T-5-J-6 ♣5-A-4-2 ♥A-8-3-4 ♦5-2-Q-9 ♥5-6-? [hv=pc=n&s=s7hkt72dk8c9&n=hjdaj4ct73&d=e&v=e&b=6]120|190|IMP's[/hv] finesse or not? How clear is it?
  6. Thanks all for the answers. [hv=pc=n&s=sakj653hajd72ca62&n=sq72ht9752dk93c73&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1dd1n2hp2s3d3sp4sppp]266|200[/hv] I inquired because I thought like Inquiry says, that I had bid my hand twice by bidding 4♠. Probably pass is better at MP's (I would not have the courage at IMP's). LHO did lead ♣K and I ducked that and he continued with ♦J. I lost a ♣, a ♥ and 2 ♦'s.
  7. I did edit OP. Realized that I had ♦xx and ♣Axx
  8. [hv=pc=n&s=sakj653hajd752ca2&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1dd1n2hp2s3d3sp]133|200|MP's[/hv] (1D was Acol style) - What is the minimum for North to bid 2♥? - Do you pass or bid 4♠? EDIT: For the actual hand I had C & D wrong: D: xx C: Axx Would that make a difference?
  9. I didn't know that only experts (or people who consider themselves experts) can post in this forum. Oops..I did it again. Maybe they would better secure the forum so that only experts (or people who consider themselves experts) can post here and that their interesting discussions are not disturbed by non-experts. BTW: Can I post in the beginner forum if it is simply an answer to a question and not educational material?
  10. You are more right on this then you can ever think :)We weren't sure what bid other then 2S by S, or bids after 2S by N would be. It is not defined in the system. (and in some bidding sequences were it is defined we play these 3-level bids as slam interest.) ...and what is worse ;) : We both forgot that we changed our agreements: 2H showed: 4c♠ and 6+♦ and max limit strength.
  11. The topic title didn't express my question well. West said that he would have bid 6 when East had bid 5m over 4NT, so yes; the blame is for passing 4NT: "But my main question is: Do you agree with the 2 DBLs of East? Do you also play at this level that forcing pass and DBL shows extras? Is Pass by East forcing and should he pass iso DBL?" Actually I don't think that you should have the same agreements as over a normal forcing pass (Pass-pull showing extras), because you can also bid 4C/4D as forcing (is it?). I wondered what agreements experts have here and how they would bid these hands.
  12. Can you explain this a bit more?(e.g. How should EW bid this?) Thanks, Koen
  13. At our table the bidding was: (1C)-2S-(3D)-P (3NT)-P-(4D)-P (6C)-AP [hv=pc=n&s=sqjt743hj653dq4cq&w=s8hkt4dakjt52cat2&n=sk652h987d963c975&e=sa9haq2d87ckj8643&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1c(2+C)2s(weak)3d(forcing)3n(psych)dpp4ddpp4spp4nppp]399|300[/hv] This was the bidding of our team mates in EW. 4NT asked to choice 5 minor game, and so I don't really agree with East's pass. But my main question is: Do you agree with the 2 DBLs of East? Do you also play at this level that forcing pass and DBL shows extras? Is Pass by East forcing and should he pass iso DBL?
  14. Yes, but I still realized for some time that it was IMP's :)
  15. IMP's [hv=pc=n&s=saq8hk5d865ca7542&n=skjt63hajt9dt93c9&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1c(2+C)p1h(transfer%20S)p1s(3cS%3B%20unlimited)p2h(4cH%3B%205cS%3B%20constructive)p2sppp]266|200[/hv] Missed the vulnerable game.
  16. Thanks, making me feel better :)...my reasoning was: we missed a lay down slam
  17. [hv=pc=n&s=s84hjd542ckq97652&w=sthak7653da976ct4&n=sakj75hq8dkq3caj3&e=sq9632ht942djt8c8&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=2np3c(puppet)p3sp3nppp]399|300|IMP's[/hv] Result : 3NT-3 From the answers here it is clear that my bidding was less than perfect. Maybe I play too much MP's
  18. We don't play a forcing club system. The name mini-precision is probably confusing. It is only the 2C opener that we play as weak replacing the strong 2C (and we play multi 2D and Transfer preempts for the strong hands).
  19. [hv=pc=n&s=saq8hk5d865ca7542&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=1c(2+C)p1h(Transfer%20S)p1s(3cS%20forcing)p2h(constructive)p]133|200[/hv]Partner transfers to S and then bids 2H. This shows a hand with 5cS and 4cH and constructive. Your 1S was unlimited. Partner could also have bid 2♦ artificial: 5cS and invite+. His 2H is almost and invite. You have points in H and S, but only doubleton H and 3 small Diamonds. Is this enough to bid more then 2S?
  20. No. (I think this is very seldom in Belgium) We play normal 5c Major and mini-precision. 2C opening is max 10 pts.
  21. 4 minor is almost always forcing for us and showing slam interest, but not here. (passed hand and competitive bidding)
  22. [hv=pc=n&s=sht542daj86cat632&n=s943hqdkq4ckqj975&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=pp1c(2+C)1sd(Neg%20DBL)3spp4cp5cppp]266|200|IMP's[/hv] I could have opened 2C mini-precission (weak with 6c♣ or with 5c♣ and 4cM), but I didn't even consider it (probably sleeping). If I would have considered it then probably I would not have done it with the void and 2 Aces. I did only bid 4♣ because North can have a 2c♣; unlikely after the bidding but still possible with a weak 4432. Do you think that the Neg-DBL is ok to start with? How to reach 6♣?
  23. IMP's [hv=pc=n&s=s84hjd542ckq97652&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=2n(20-21)p]133|200[/hv] What contract is probably best? Bidding continued: 2NT-3C (3C=Puppet Stayman) 3S-3NT (3S=5cS) Do you agree with the bidding? Other options were: - 2NT-4C: Slam interest with C - 2NT-5C: to play - 2NT-3C-3D/3NT-4C: Slam interest C, partner bid 4NT if no good hand for C. (This is why I started with 3C. But over 3S, 4C is control with S-fit) - 2NT-3NT: to play - 2NT-3C-3S-5C: to play
  24. I don't understand this question. Opener didn't DBL and was forced to RDBL. Responder will clarify his hand depending on agreements.(For me this is: pass: strong enough to play 1NTxx; bidding: DONT) After responder showed strength we play it as penalty, so penalty and forcing. 1NT-X-Pass-Pass xx-2C-? Here we play negative DBL because responder did not yet show strength
  25. We play that OS shows A or K in the OS-suit (or Q behind AJ, KJ). It does not necessarily say that we want the switch. Partner will have to look at his hand and decide what is best. Rem: With a previous partner I had the explicit agreement that we should lie about the OS if we see that continuation of the opening suit is bad and see that opening leader will not be able to see it. I don't have that explicit agreement now, but I think it is logic. BTW: Can't I have the Club K iso D A? NT-bidder explicitly asked what 1C was before he bid NT, so it is not sure that he has a stop.
