  1. Thanks! We tend to bid to 6 with the worst nbr. You are not doing that here to allow 6D after 6C to ask if it is 0 or Q? Makes sense. In the above bidding this would give something like: - 5NT: Josephine - 5S: Asks extras => Something like: partner bids 6C/6D with the Ace or 5NT with other extras (e.g side King). - 6C: Asks ♠A - 6D: Asks ♠A or ♣A Now, suppose South had ♥&♠ switches and did bid 5♠ iso 5♥. Then?: - 5NT: Josephine - 6C: Cue, asking extras => 6♦=♦A; 6♥=♥K or Q; 6♠=no extra - 6D: Asks ♣A - 6H: ?? => does that make sense or do you see this different (This is with North have a 2-suiter and Kings in side suite maybe not useful)
  2. Sorry, Edited the OP We have "Josephine" on our system, but only when it is done with jump after fit is set. Do you think it should be "Josephine"? Yes, 4 hearts almost sure after 5H bid. 6H by South was weakest possible bid (both if 5NT was GSF or just asking extras.) GSF="Josephine"? Is it also not possible that it asks extra's.Maybe "Josephine" is best, not sure. BTW: We now have basic agreements about Josephine: "With a clear fit a jump to 5NT is Josephine. Bid 6 in trump without a top-honor (A, K, Q). Bid 6C with 1 top honor trump and 7 in trump with 2 top honors. Instead of 6C or 7 in trump you can bid 6/7 in another suit with an extra honor in that suit (Maybe it is 6NT or 7NT)" Maybe it is better to distinguish between trump A, K and Q if there is place. ...anyway, if 5NT is Josephine then South can probably bid 7H.
  3. See http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/56026-7-atb/ for the result
  4. [hv=pc=n&n=sakqtxxhAtxxxxdcA&s=sj63hk742dq73cq52&d=e&v=b&b=13&a=ppp3c(preempt%20D%20OR%20GF%20majors%20OR%20GF%20minors%20OR%20GF%20H)p3dd3s(GF%20with%20both%20majors)5d5hp5np6hppp]233|200[/hv] 3D 'forced' when partner opens 3C (preempt D, GF majors, GF minors or GF H) in 4th hand. 3C followed by 3S shows a game force hand with both majors. 5NT undefined (what should it mean?). Who is to blame to for missing 7H?
  5. I did bid 3NT. My partner also had a doubleton ♥. We lost 5 ♥ tricks & ♣K for -2.
  6. Thanks, Maybe you are right that this should be Josephine. In our system we have: "With a clear fit a jump to 5NT is Josephine" So, we should change our definition to make this Josephine. Also: If partner needs some extra's outside of Hearts, how can he ask. E.g: If he needs ♠K or ♣K. If he needs a side Ace he can cue 5♠ and I can cue an Ace. I think I would need ♣A and I cannot cue ♣ with the ♣K then? And I don't see how I can show a ♠ honor. ...So, is it really Josephine or just asking extras?
  7. [hv=pc=n&s=sj63hk742dq73cq52&d=e&v=b&b=13&a=ppp3c(preempt%20D%20OR%20GF%20majors%20OR%20GF%20minors%20OR%20GF%20H)p3dd3s(GF%20with%20both%20majors)5d5hp5np]133|200[/hv] 3C followed by 3S shows a game force hand with both majors. (Do you agree with 5H?) Partner bids 5NT. He seems to have a good hand, but do you consider bidding 7H? What is partner asking? What would 5S/6C/6D have been?
  8. IMPs Teams [hv=pc=n&s=sj5ht2da8cjt96532&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1n(15-17)p2s(Transfer%20C%20or%20invite%20with%20D)p2n(Positive%20for%20C)p]133|200[/hv] Playing against a weaker team you get this hand vulnerable at IMPs. Partner opens 1NT, you transfer to Clubs and partner shows a good hand for Clubs. Do you bid 3C or 3NT now (both are to play) or will you go for 5C (no way to invite again and stop in 4C). Do you feel confident about your decision or is it a gamble?
  9. my partner did lead a small D. declarer had DK singleton. The contract goes down on DA or H lead if declarer does not find trump Q. probably he should after these leads, but opps were not very strong.
  10. Is it possible in bml to use twice the same bid for opps. E.g: - when you have a different defense to 1NT when it is strong or when it is weak. - different defense if opps open 2D weak or 2D multi. Is it possible in bss?
  11. teams; IMPs[hv=pc=n&s=sq73hj52da8532ck2&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1c(2+)p1h(Walsh)p1s(Can%20be%20balanced)p3s(invite)p4sppp]133|200[/hv] What do you lead?
  12. 1NT-2S 2NT/3C-3H 2S=transfer C weak or strong OR invite with D 2NT=accept invite C; 3C=min for C 3H=singleton, slam interest I pass if partner bids 3NT now.
  13. I wasn't clear here. I hoped that I showed slam interest and had planned to always bid 6♦ if partner would bid 5♦
  14. Thank you all for the answers. I wondered if this could also be a 3NT bid and for some it actually seems to be (I'm not convinced it is best). Maybe I should not post who the bidding continued  : Teams/Imp's [hv=pc=n&s=sahq2dakqj72cj752&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=3h4dp4spp5hppdppp]133|200[/hv] My partner was weak with a 6c♠. LHO had ♠KQx and a singleton ♥.
  15. Note that here I didn't play with my regular partner, so the methods didn't apply. For methods with my regular partner: DBL is transfer to ♠, at least a 4c♠. With a TO DBL we can also DBL if we have at least 4c♠.
  16. makes me wonder if I have the N hand wrong and that he was 4234 or 3235, but I don't think so. That is what I play with my regular partner. My first reaction was that 3♠ should be natural and 4c♠, but South didn't bid 3♣ to ask for the majors, so yes...good suggestion! I've put some parts in bold, but follow the rest of your reasoning as well.Luckily E-W didn't call TD, could get a difficult decision
  17. Is that true? Following Note in our screen regulations:"De speler die hem schuift mag de beweging van de biedplank vertragen om tempo-onregelmatigheden te voorkomen" In English: "The player who is moving the tray can delay the movement to avoid tempo irregularities". ...But maybe this is only if the bidding was very fast. That was my thinking as South. I really expected a 4c♦ and 2c♥ for the 5♦ bid & extra's. Without slam-interest I expected N to pass.(I didn't even realize that there could a UI by the BIT. Maybe because I already decided to bid 6D over 5D when I made the 4H bid
  18. I edited the OP. We play Walsh. I thought 4D iso 4H showed maybe 4cH-6cD. Therefor I did bid 4H. I hoped that showing D before bidding 4H suggested slam-interest.
  19. Right. 3C would have been asking for majors. 3D was natural. No agreements, except that in our area we play 2NT as GF. Choice of games for H would in fact be something like: 3C followed by 3NT No agreements about 3D followed by 4H, but I was South and thought that it should show slam-interest.East was a bit displeased (..is that English?) because North first took the 6D card out of the box, but finally decided to bid 5D. I was South and decided after bidding 4H that I would bid (gamble?) 6D if North would correct to Diamonds.
  20. Teams/Imp's [hv=pc=n&s=sahq2dakqj72cj752&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=3h]133|200[/hv] - I didn't play this with my regular partner. No agreements, so assume everything is natural. - With my regular partner we have some strange agreements where DBL=transfer to ♠; and 4♦=6c♦&4c♠; and 3♠ is transfer to 3NT (no stop); and 5♦ is to play. With these agreement 3♠ is obvious?
  21. Temas/IMP's [hv=pc=n&s=sj2hak8532djt952c&n=saq5h64dak87caj73&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1c(2+%20card)p1hp2n(18-19)p3d(forcing)p3np4hp5dp6dppp]266|200[/hv] 1) Do you agree with this bidding? 2) This was behind screens and it took some time before the board came back to South with the 5♦ bid. 2a) Is it clear for South that North was thinking & that N was thinking to bid 6♦ iso 5♦ or that he was thinking to pass 4♥ or that maybe East was thinking or delayed pushing the tray back? 2b) Can South bid 6♦? Edit: We also agreed Walsh. Probably important because repeating D now iso of bidding 4H would show 4cH and 6cD with slam interest (around a limit hand)
  22. Thanks for the reply. Where is the line between 4♥ & 4♠, and when can opener try for slam? Is that standard usage for 5♠? Is it the same for e.g.:(4♥)-4♠-(Pass)-5♠ (3♥)-3♠-(Pass)-5♠ (2♥)-2♠-(Pass)-5♠
