I hate to say this Justin and you may not like it ( no offence intended) I knew a world champ once at boxing, if you have to ask you ain't got it, it is there in you , it is self belief that all it takes (maybe at bridge a few good partners as well)

sorry helene, your first guess was corrct, I am afraid I can'taccept your second answer, guess I wll have to drink the beer myself -
I dont run that many tourneys, but they are usually barometer, I must admit. I seem to get disconnections further down the table and better connections up the table, this was something I had noticed and was considering stopping next time I run a tourney

with max I would have banged away at 6nt

Hi, I am curious, I play both DONT and CAPP with various people. what my question is, is, why bother, they seem to come up so infrequently (or maybe I am doing it wrong) is it worth the effort? I have Landy on my profile, which though basic, seems great to me, the only other def to NT I have seeen that I like is Meckwell, though this is more of a strain on the brain. Anyway the question is about frequency of DONT and CAPP and is it worth the bother is natural bidding better???????????????

dwingo as you are here, come to my table I am in BBO now and I will talk you through getting FD up
-
I am curious here, I have a 4 bid stayman sequence 1nt, 2C, 2D and 2H (as described above). in FD file If I want to add 4 way transfer sequence, smollen and texas transfers as 1 FD file, how do you intigrate it with the stayman sequences? I am not sure how to get two convention sequences to run in unison with each other? example of what I mean would be example 1 1nt (openers bid) 2C (stayman) 2H (4 hearts) example 2 1nt (openers bid) 2D (transfer to hearts) 2H(accept transfer) how do I get the 2H bid to reflect two different meanings I need some HELP, trying again at a teaching table, I bid 1nt it shows my correct expalnation then after pass responder bids, 2clubs, 2 diamonds or 2 hearts (these are the four bids I have in my FD file it shows all the explanations I have typed in so now I am at a loss as to how to proceed to make a cc, am I doing something drastically wrong? (I know fred is not here, so any help or ideas would be appreciated)
-
yes I moved them to conv folder ;)

Hi, I loaded my FD file, I have 1nt opener, 2club (stayman), 2Diamond (deny 4 card major, 2heart (weak scramble majors) these are the only 4 bids I have on this file old version 1.1.0 I bid 1nt (15-17 balanced. I got correct description) partner bid 2club (I got stayman, correct description), opener now bids 2diamonds (I got deny 4 card major, correct desription) sitting 4 seats at teaching table version 1.1.1 same bidding no problem this works also, my oddity is version 1.1.1 I bid 1nt (15-17 balanced. I got correct description) partner now bids 2diamond (NOT 2club) and I got deny 4 card major, I expected it to be blank as I had (or thought I had not logged that bid?? I assumed that if I make a file I log openers bids and responders bids (2diamond should be an openers response to responders bid, so I assumed it would be blank as I had not defined 2 diamond as response to 1nt opener yet hope that makes sense
-
no it is not, it is quite useful and one thing that seems to happen with bidding stayman is opps shut up, I like 4way transfers and I use stayman usually alert it as may not have a 4 card major
-
maybe it is just something I noticed when I got it to work the first time and never noticed it before btw it is a really smart idea, I think it will be quite popular
-
interesting, I am sitting NS and EW are bidding, I loaded the.bss file and it is showing me NS EW bids to me sitting south also I deleted all FD except the one in the main BB folder NOT the conv cards folders I am in a teaching table sitting at all 4 tables so not sure if that makes a difference
-
Paul, I just tried it again I have a .bss file in sceptic convention = wayne.bss and in the bridgebase main folder = ew.bss after loading cc when I make an opening bid of 1nt (I only have 4 bids covered in my FD file, it shows a box in the top right hand corner of the screen with the info I typed in I do not believe opps can see it as an alert yet and I do not think that partner can see it either it took me ages to sort out, until I had a bidedit icon appear (the one with a little brown cog wheel on the right hand side, it looks like a page with a wheel on it) sorry if I am not to technical here
-
Hi, you have to start to create a cc, then save it in your BBO conv file and if you run the new version ofBBO you can see it when you load ur cc, read freds link on the new version it does work

bad luck, 5 hearts made and so did 4 spades, it is not about making it is about whether or not I should make bids like this -
[hv=d=n&v=n&n=s65hqdkqj862cq432&w=sthk96432dat4c985&e=sa974hajt75d75cj7&s=skqj832h8d93cakt6]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - Pass Pass 4♠ Pass Pass Pass just wonder I think itis (or seems to be) common practice to open 4 level with 8 of a suit and also some one said 7/4 you should open at 4 level or game if it is a major, can I have comments on my judgement here please

what do you think of this bidding?
sceptic replied to sceptic's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
actually I dont play that with this p, I really thought 3 spades was a bid opps would be pushed on, if 4th seat opened I would prob end in 3 spades anyway, but heck I have loads to learn, I do make some real dumb ass bids -
wayne's (cascades) Lin file convertor and thx I will ask him when I see him

http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=10102&hl= I posted this hand from a tourney I played in today and it shows imps on the diagram, but we played in a MP tourney, is there any reason for this? 582 sky club and BBO land

what do you think of this bidding?
sceptic replied to sceptic's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
reason for bid, pard was a passed hand, we wre doing extremely badly at mps and I thought if 4th seat overcalls or x's, I would probably end in 3 spades anyway so why not bid it any way, I had confidence my p would not raise me even with a good passed hand. was it really a crap shoot Justin?
