Hi all, I ran a tourney today, with 12 hands I created myself, with various two suited hands, I tried to make them interesting for the people playing. I am going to post the hands here in the hope one of you experts likes them and will help me out with my next free tourney, what I would like is someone to look over the hands before I do the tourney and tell me what the best or possibly contarct N/S or E/W should reach. now for a totally different view. I think people play with Bots beacause, it is free and it is a novelty,when you start charging for GIB, the demand will drop off. I think someone playing against 3 bots will cease. I think 2 people playing against 2 bots will reduce dramatically. I think the is a subbltle difference between GIB, Bridgemaster and something like ML's 2/1 workbook. I think it is a lot more embarassing being seen playing with yourself online with a mechanical device than it is having people watch you make mistakes. People make the game fun, not Robots, Exterminate them,Exterminate them, Exterminateeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

play A then one other and hope for 2/2 split, I think 51% success rate (but what do I know :)

I like ur comments Jall, I think you will become a good player one day (tounge in cheek) now for my next questions. I like to be a bit creative at times as I do try and think at the table occasionally, I was lucky with both the bids 4NT and 4spades in the two hands shown, they both made with what I think where defensive errors. my question is, should I stop doing things like this at the table (bad practice) or was hand 1 worth a sacrifice and hand 2 was this foolish over my pards premptive 3 club bid?

(and seems to have a talent for bailing me out when I screw up) Ron says it should be bid with longer Diamonds than hearts and 4 Clubs with longer hearts than diamonds. I did not quite have the bid, but thought not vuln it was worth a shot. If you are totally new to it, then ask me and I can run a few small ones with you and talk you through the mechanics of it, I am not that competant at the Bridge rules, but I am willing to help you get off the ground if you like

I realise that they have the majority of points (well thats what I thought at the table), I considered my !C holding was excellent and I did consider 3 hearts as a bid, but I opted for 4 level to make it more difficult for opps. the result here was excellent for me, but that does not mean my bid is correct. Can I have your comments on my bid please.

I copied this from another posting by pigpenz (hope I got that right) I am curious, if you all play the same system defences signals etc etc, surely the best player is easily determinable in a tournament. then there is the issue, if they are all the same standard, do they all end up in the same contract scoring 50% each hand? if you play all different systems, unless you are a systems freak you cant have defences against everything the opps throw at you? if you are a casual player, maybe a few tourneys a year, what difference does it make if the opps throw at you a brown sticker convention as opposed to a convention they do not know? not sure where I am going with this question, I just want to hear some opinions on the subject.

Hi, I was watching in the main lobby today and one of the players hands would not show, I left the table and reentered and it was ok all 4 hands showing, just thought I would mention it as it is the first time I recall seeing that happen

I do not like the thought of being suspended for booting players. I have booted players for the following reasons. unreasonable length of delay and no answer from them, despite efforts to contact them. (NO red dot) I am not talking about delays when the first card has been laid on the table and they could be thinking. rudeness. (I do not see why I should leave my own table to play elsewhere when the other two players may be nice) I prefer to boot the offender and IMHO I think as host I should have that right. I have also booted people, when I have asked them to leave the table to allow someones partner to join, when I have specifically stated that we need the seat when someones reg pard arrives. I have booted red dotted players also (how long should we be expected to wait) ? I have booted players that have said BRB and taken ages (an unreasonable length of time to wait, IMHO) I agree with your policy of suspension of table hoppers mid hand (I like that a lot)

candy, when ur tourney is running well enjoy the rest, I have been a TD in a tourney when it goes tits up with bad connection probs, I could not possibly imagine a TD coping with two tourneys running at the same time when they have bad connection probs, two lots of call boxes 2 lots of subs yuk does not bear thinking about

I may have mentioned it before, I watched luis do a session on weak twos and he recommended a weak two ogust STYLE, which I liked a lot and seemed to make a lot of sense to me 0 - bad 11 hcp to open unfortunately everyone I mention it to laughs at me or says it is ridiculous so I am left with mainly pick ups p's saying weak twos and nothing else , no definition of what a weak two is nor the responses you can expect (maybe it is just to long winded to talk about for a few hands)

I seem to be bidding stronger 2 or 3 suited hands instead of bidding 2Clubs as an opener my issue here is how weak does your partner have to be to pass out 1 of a minor or even 1 of a major in both sayc and 2/1

I can't remember the last time I played with someone that was willing to play ogust. everyone seems to play weak twos with no specific agreements or is there a standard way of playing them, it just seems very hit and miss to me with mostpeople (pickups)
