why wow, the times I have jumped to 4 spades or used nmf to get to 4 and gone down, , I did not think 2 spades was that unrealistic :D mind you, some of you may play ur cards a bit better than me lol

HI AAR That statement is unbelievable, I don't think I have ever critisised anyone publically here before, but, you are unbelievable, I find the arrogance in this statement unreal. Anyway if you want to solve your problems, get a new ISP, I had AOL and that happened to me all the time, most frustrating I found it. by the way, I used to wait 5 minutes also, no idea why, but it seemed to help, even though it is illogical as Gerben says. But I had same problem on 2 different spec computers and the only change I made was DUMPING AOL.

Hi does anyone have any experience of huge number of rejections in tournaments? I have tried to join 3 or 4 tourneys over the last week one ACBL and 3 free ones, I put my name down in partner desk and wait (in vain) I invite usually intermediate or advanced players and I keep getting knocked back, I have not limited this to one or two invites either I have on my profile, Intermediate player, basic sayc landy blackwood and standard carding. I put this on so I have at least the basics for a pick up partnership, do you feel this is the problem and if so, is it why so many people lie about their level of ability and list every convention they have heard of, as rejection on this level begins to irritate occasionally (or am I getting paranoid) a side note, even when TD's ask the stragglers in the partnership desk just to join up and try someone new I still get rejected. the problem has been greater since I changed my profile to the basic description Just sounding off here, easier than throwing abuse at the screen :)

Hi all, I don't think I have said this before, but, I am extremely appreciative of all the people in the forums that take the time to answer my posts, some of the questions I ask and some of the examples, I use may seem somewhat frivolous, but, they are important to me and they help me to improve (well at least I think I am improving and that is the important thing. is drury the only option for a passed responder, or are there other conventions that cater for 3rd , 4th hand openers

assume no drury how do you bid this? me and my p have spent some time trying to get a proper understanding together of our systems, we expect the odd area of confusion, but we would like to get it together eventually

This may not suprise some of you, but I have only really started to take into account (playing sayc only) responding bids as a passed hand. the example I will use is this pass................................................................ pass ......1 spade .............................................pass 2 clubs (I only had 4 clubs)(also shows 10hcp+). pass ...2 hearts (shows min hand 5/4 dist min).pass 3 spades (I had 11 hcp and 3 spades, this hand I declined to open, I will have to dig it out the archives if you need to see it) I am not continuing with the rest of the bidding as the part I am interested is, does my jump to spades definately show 3 spade support and max hand for a pass possibly 11 hcp also does this bidding make sense (let assume you agree with my decision to pass)? I did consider seriously 2 spades NOT 3 spades, but considered this may show 2 spades only, also I thought that if he had a maximum minimum (sounds good) he may bid 4 spades and the ball is in partners court.

the nice thing here is both me and my p seem to like up the line bidding, I am sure that with 4D and 4S he would have bid the spades first, my 2 diamond bid, does it show 1435 or 0445 or 1444 as possible distributions I do not play it as showing extra values, just showing dist also I would have bid 1 spade even though somehere, have said it is a one bid hand, was it worng to do so and if so why ?

I may have a lot to learn, but I think 6 clubs is not that bad, they have got to have something in majors and I would not be suprised if it was not slam I would push them to slam I cant defend a game in majors but a slam may go down 1 I think anyone who bids 3nt is plain bonkers
