I am not happy with when I open 1NT with 5 card majors on occasions, I wish I had opened the suit What are good basic guidlines for opening a major as opposed to NT (I have not specified whatthe NT range is, as that may have a bearing on your answers) Do you have preferences how you handle NT with 5 card majors What conventions do you like or prefer to play knowing there can be 5 card majors in openers hand Do you think you should not open NT with a 5 card major I am not happy with when I open 2NT hands with 5 card majors on occasions, as my reponse structure does not seem to be anygood, I have no idea about puppet stayman or anything else available in this position. I think the best chance to make is duck first Diamond,to try to break the opps communication, if Diamonds are continued, play low club to Ace and finese the 10C if covered by jack then play QC hoping east has KC, if west has KC, your 10D may be a good stop and will give you 9 tricks, may be extras if after you duck first D, tthey change to Spades then you rproblems really start and I am not sure of the bestway to play it B)

East may hold something like Qxxx Jxx Q10x xxx South may hold something like AKJxxx x Qxx xx 3 ask for Diamond back as you can see clubs is a non starter and I think itis the only place you can make 2 tricks as well as from the A hearts and if you can get your spade trick, makes for 1 down

Hi, I want to know is there a way of copying a setof 4 hands onto a movie file with out having to type 3 hands into the movie on BBO (if you understand what I mean) I opened a teaching table and copied the 4NT hand into a movie file and saved it to my desk top, that way I can load up and play the hand at my leisure I suppose what I am asking is what is the easiest way to get (for exampl, the 4NT hand in the forums currently), a hand from the forum into a file I can play about with at a teaching table in BBO p.s. I will have the solution to the 4NT problem by December atthis rate :)

OK, believe this one if you will 1 open usually 22/3+ HCP or 4 loser hand or less I wont open 22+ with 2 or 3 suits even if it has 4 losers or less (well never say never) I dont play2 Clubs as game forcing after a 2D response mypard on the other hand seems to play SEF style 2!C opener in our 2/1 (which causes some confusion) ourbidding from 2clubs is usually a disaster, she may kill me for saying that LOL

we play 2 Club responses, 2 D = neg 2 H = red ace 2 S = black ace 2 NT = 7hcp+ not my prefered method, but bridge is about partnership compromise, I just need to convince my p to change :) I need some help here as she is willing to chnge if I can convince her .. Hi all, I expect you know my standard of bridge ability at the moment as you have seen my posts. last weekend, I was teaching (yes I realise I am probably not the first choice of many as a teacher) my 15 year old nephew bridge along with his parents he wishes me to teach him some more. now without wanting to lead him/them up the garden path, how best should I do this, I am trying to persude his parents to let him come on to BBO and join the BIL club for the excellent lessons. the first lesson I gave them was very basic and I printed some of Karen Walkers pages off for them to read, one of the problems I encountered was, the actually complexity of the first hand, there is just so much to say and so much bad (well considering my own weaknesses) advice I could give. How do you think I should proceed, he just seems to remember everything I say and the pages he read he has off to pat virtually after one read. he is also very keen and seemed to enjoy it as he kept asking all weekend to just play bridge and talkk about it

well as p bid 1nt knowing full well I overcall some real crappy hands, I think 2nt shows interest in game if I am stronger than usual, as I would not expect them to bid 1nt with a min bid hope this humours you

well, I think best way to sort out this debate is for you lads, to pick your system and favorite partner and play a 100 or 2 x 50 board match against each other and let us watch and the loser, can have a big dose of humble pie and the spectators can have a bit of fun watching and cheering on our favorite forum experts
