Hi I was watching Zia in the Vugraph today and I saw this bidding, can some one answer this question please, bidding was 1 D - 1 H - 1 NT(showing strong NT opener or strong NT hand) 1/. Is it advantageous to play weak nt 12-14 when you can show a strong NT hand in this way. ( it seems the opposite when play ing strong NT) 2/. are systems on after your 1NT bid showing 15-17 3/. (if systems are on) what happens with stayman as in the example you know your pard has 4 hearts 4/. what other benefits are there to playing this way 5/. what other adjustments do you have to make in sayc or 2/1 to compensate for playing weak NT as opposed strong NT

I would play AK first for 2-2 split straight away, if it split 3-1 or 4- 0 you still only lose 1 trx in trumps, then lead 9 diamonds ( at first opportunity) to take out wests Q diamonds and you make tha contract

like it or not, uday is the boss and quite honestly, I agree with one eyed jack, there is some real nasty crap posted on unregulated yahoo forums. One of the reasons I left it to be honest, it has a tendancy to drag everyone into it and lower the tone. This is quite a decent place to post and read and I think freedom of speech is ok as long as you dont hurt anyone so carry on moderating -

slam bidding query

I was not blaming my p, he is a much better player than me, by a long way. I know I should have bid 6, it was just something I was told in a lesson and I was trying it out (not the brightest thing I have done this week, but not the dumbest either) but I have been caught out before trying to judge 1 or 3 key cards and judging by luis comment there would be more than one way to play it (asking bid 6 with Q) so maybe it is something for partnership agreement rather than the basic way to play it? -
I seem to have issues bidding 5 heart 4 spade hands with 14 - 16 points (not strong enough for reverse) any tips please

what languages should we in england learn Roland, my attempt at learning Danish was ok, my friend taught me a basic Danish greeting, that I could use at the bridge table "Hejsa Store patter" I have since dropped that from my Danish skills and my polish comprisses of "ja nie mowie po polsku" The trouble with learning a different language in an insular place, is practice, you are lucky in europe, lots of people are using other languages and it is quite a cosmopolitan place, I can't remember the last time I met anyone that did not speak english to some degree, we are a lazy bunch when it comes to learning other languages

Hi all, a couple of questions here please 1/. was I strong enough to reverse here (I did not, but curious if I was strong enough or what extra I would need if I was not) 2/. I opened a club (would opening a spade have been better) 3/. what is your opinion on opening the longest suit first with a 6/5/2/0, is it personal preference or is there a recommended way of doing it 4/. is 6/5/2/0 better than 6/5/1/1 (this might seem a dumb question to some of you but I will ask it anyway) [hv=d=w&v=a&n=s76hqj932djt8532c&w=saqj94hktdcaj8643&e=s853ha84da9764ct2&s=skt2h765dkqckq975]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South 1♣ Pass 1♦ Pass 1♠ Pass 1NT Pass 2♠ Pass 3♠ Pass 4♠ Pass Pass Pass can you give me you opinions on my line of play (made me sweat a bit) and can you tell me how to handle it correctly please. http://online.bridgebase.com/myhands/hands...time=1122249600 hand 32 thanks all

I dont understand if they had that diamond holding, then why would he would not bid a major, unless he had 5 diamonds and 8 clubs something I think I can live with as the chances of that happening are somewhat remote -

Hi, 2 clubs as far as I am aware is only 5/5 in the majors (I may be wrong, it would not be the first time). the 2 diamond bid, I could only perceive as a natural diamond bid (I would assume if my p was asking me to chose my best major, they would cue bid clubs also (this may be another area I am unsure of)) with my assumption of a natural diamond bid, my void in clubs and Axx of diamonds, I thought game as we were vulnerable was the best option, my p now knows we have a good diamond fit and if he had a major fit (which I assumed they had denied) we could still reach a slam (my thinking may be flawed here) but I am not the most clinical of bidders and I do like (as you have seen by previous posts) to be a bit creative (it probably could be taken for partnership mistrust, but I try my best and on occasions I make some bad calls) -
How reasonable or unreasonable is my bidding here, 2 clubs by me we were vuln v's non vuln [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sj98h98dkjt963cq5&w=s532hat3dq74ct982&e=s76hk54d8cakj7643&s=sakqt4hqj762da52c]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - 1♣ 2♣ Pass 2♦ 3♣ 5♦ Pass Pass Pass
