2 club opener the idiot passes
sceptic replied to sceptic's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
why do you expect a void in clubs, I play 2 clubs is NOT a 3 suited hand also do you really think it was that bad as a reg partnership, I thought I was beinbg sensible? -

I am just curious how many of you have it switched on all the time, or now you have tried it, is it switched off?
-
I opened 1 spade my p came to my aid 4 clubs was her bid 4 diamonds was mine she stole my heart with a 4 I rose to the occasion with a memory equation 1 club 1 heart from my p = 7NT from me dam to quick when there is a hulabaloo please let me undo before my p lynches me

Play of the hand by William Root is the book page 69 for all those that wish to buy it or dig it out of the attic (for the older experts) anyway I was quite impressed with it, (but I am easy to please according to the wife)

LHo has the 9 spades so finese the hearts 3 times , even if it loses and RHO has a spade (4/4 split) they can only make 3 spades and 1 heart, or am I missing something?
-
SAYC 2 club then 3 clubs 2/1 1 heart then 2nt, I think if p was unbalanced (which he would have to be to have me as a p) he could bid 3clubs or 3 diamonds and I correct to 3 spades or he bids 3 spades and I bid 4 spades

hm, well you could just ask me not to post any more in private, but if you want to make a public statement so be it, delete the post

please hide your answers if possible if you are not a beginner or intermediate Thanks Wayne

I was reading a book on card play and this came up in the section about Jettison play (defined in the book as) a discard that is made for the purpose of unblocking (usually the jettison card is an honour), this info is here to help you look in the right place for the answer, I had the info available so it is only fair you do as well it took me 6 minutes to work this out before checking the answer (I never seem to get that much thinking time at the table) (note) I read this book two years ago and it never really made any sense to me at the time, but we digress, I will tell you the book after a few of you have had a go, as I think the book is even better on the second read so if you have 10 mins to spare and (in my opinion) you will see something quite smart, have a go your self. The contract is 7 hearts and the opening lead is the K diamonds. I think, lack of decent films on TV may be one reason, there are other possibilities, your picture Justin does you credit, wish I had a mom that looked that good :), actually wish I had a wife that looked that good, mind you if I did, she would probably trade me in for a better model. The forums popularity seems to have picked up since ben started this resaraunt theme, perhaps we all want to be something different, I quite fancy myself as a chicken vindaloo type person. Don't borrow marcs Stilletos he has big feet, they will fall off first time you try and tackle the stairs -
Can you work it out?
sceptic replied to Walddk's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
A!C then play a spade through if p has K spades and A hears( highly unlikely), but I cant see another way to do it -
after a 1 spade or 1 heart opening bid, I quite often get my self in trouble, using neg x, the reason seems to be, whilst 1,4,4,4 dist and 10 hcp is nice usually I end up with 1,3 major,4,5 or 2,3 major,4,4 and 10hcp should I pass with only 3 of the major and wait to see what develops rather than x at every opportunity I get, the problem I get on occasions is playing in a 3/3major fit which goes down and then my p dissappearing

What do u open?

0 - 12 ogust style, I watched luis do a session on weak twos in BIL lounge, I think it is great and what he has to say about weak twos is excellent, (shame I can never find a p willing to try and play them in the range 0- 12 (which brings me to why do you say, Luis, 1 heart opening not 2 when ur range is 0 - 12 hcp?) as the Qx's make it not so good for defence (I think) I would be interested to see the arguements Mauro has for his side of the story, may be I am missing something, but I thought weak 2's were supposed to be disruptive and make it harder for the opponents, ogust seems to be a good method to find out where to go from your p's weak two bid? -
one irritating feature, is when a card is played it interupts the flow of speech from table chat or private chat, (possibly I should not be recieving chat when playing), but overall, it seems to function well

I did not think 2 spades was a reverse after p goes to 2 level what should it mean in sayc and in 2/1?

Hi all, we ended up in 6 hearts, far to high, can you comment on the bidding please, particulaly if you think my 4 diamond bid was a bit too encouraging for my p [hv=d=w&v=n&n=sa932hkq654da9cj3&w=s85hat93dqt5ca865&e=sjt764h2dj64ct942&s=skqhj87dk8732ckq7]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South Pass 1♥ Pass 2♦ Pass 2♠ Pass 3♥ Pass 4♦ Pass 4NT Pass 5♣ Pass 5♦ Pass 6♥ Pass Pass Pass

6/5 hand would you open?
sceptic replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I am not sure if it is good bridge but every time I have passed with a hand like this I never get to show it and usually regret it, so 1 spade is best for me -
Card combination with entry contraint
sceptic replied to Chamaco's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
well , no idea if it is correct, but I would play Q first ( if kxx or kjx) they will hold up any way (I think ), then play to the ace the hope you can get in with the low to 8 -
