  1. Hi, Something happened to me the other day and it left me with a dilema. My opponent misplayed a card and asked for an undo. My dilema was, it was the card I was having problems with , or in other words the card I wanted to be in the other hand. Whilst I was happy to say yes to the undo, it totally baffled me as to what the right thing to do was? How should I act or continue in these circumstances 1/. at the table 2/. in a tournament I do not have a major issue with the occourence as it was a very nice table, I just wanted to know what is right in a tourney (assuming undos are allowed, this may be another discussion in itself) or what is right in cyberland as this may be the only place this kind of thing can happen?
  2. 2nd time I have played this world class player and I wondered what system he plays, they made top again, I wondered what convention he plays

  6. sigh, what I mean is I never covered the k club with my ace
  7. [hv=d=s&v=e&n=skt94hj6dj432ca54&w=s3hat932d65ckq973&e=sq765h874dat987ct&s=saj82hkq5dkqcj862]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - - 1NT Pass 2♣ Pass 2♠ Pass 3♠ Pass 4♠ Pass Pass Pass Hi, I would like comments on all aspects of this hand please. particulary the first card I played, I had a K club lead, what do you think was wrong with my thinking , I thought I would control the club suit and get another lead I will attach link to file shortly when I remeber how o do it ( I think this is makeable if I play it correctly.
  8. I never said I DESERVE free Vu Graph, I am probably in a minority here, but I would be happy to pay to join BBO in a similar way that other sites work, I play acbl tourneys which are pay, as I have no use of master points, it is stupid of me to play them and not the free ones, I dont actually enjoy Pay tourneys any more than free tourneys, I play them as fred is trying to keep BBO free and I am happy to contribute via that method of using BBO $ I also brought some software, from fred rather than Amazon, I am happy to put money in their pockets rather than Amazon's. it does not cost me much and I am a great believer in trying to give something back. my point is with people that only come here to watch is, what do they give in return?, fred and uday have an issue with volumes and the structure of BBO, they want opinions, I like giving opinions and ideas , some I believe are good opinions and some are just food for thought and not well thought out, but I find good ideas are generated by discussions and no idea or opinion is a bad one (except one that you disagree with) and one of your statements is at the end well I do not disagree with that, but it does not change my opinion that may be they should charge for Vu Graph,
  9. I mean you have to keep the LHO (the one with the crap hand) off lead, after he has made his spade ruff, which I would have discarded a D as that is why I have 3 D winners left. (I hope that m,akes sense)
  10. win 1st trick in hand with either the 10 or the A if they cover, play ace next or 10 if it is not covered low diamond , ruff and when you see Q go play a club (I think with this hands long as you keep ur RHO off lead you should be ok) I think they will lead A S K S and then get a ruff (so far 4 losers) what ever he leads you can make the rest of the tricks, either a D lead and ruff he has t play the A so your 3 D become good, he leads a club and you can ruff and set up your D;s and you can still get back to your hand for good D
  11. yes that is one of the problems with BBO Tourneys, they can be fun
  12. I disagree slightly in the fact that, you can't control ur pards options and they are the ones that can usually play the hand faultlessly when they can see all 4 hands
  13. What advice would you give about letting opps play in 1 level contacts 1C p p 1nt p p p 1C p 1H p p p 1S p p p p p 1S p p p p p p 1C p p p just some examples, I am looking for genral opinions about 1 level contratcs
  14. nice one jilly, what I have experienced mostly is the higher the standard a player is the more inclined they are to ask p to claim and they are the ones that should know better. this goes back to a previous post where I try to explain all my mistakes away as people on line do not seem to have much patience :), hence I do not make mistakes everyone else is rushing me :) Claiming online it would seem has a lot of advocates in favour of dummy claiming all the time. I have also been guilty of not quite being able to see the ending, but claiming after p has told me to, for fear of offending an impatient pard.........so all in all turn off pards facility to kib opps hands (permenantly, do not allow the option), if people want to see all 4 hands let them kib, do not allow them to play, exception teaching tables
  15. Question here not an opinion, what do you mean 1 spade is 4th suit, do you mean natural it is 4th suit or 4th suit as in an artificial force?
  16. I think you hit the nail on the head, 2 main clubs, but there are teachers that use the facilities, may be email them directly and ask them to justify their continuance, or may be you can charge a small fee for private clubs, that way only people with an interest or genuine use will open them, I base this solely on the amount of times I g to BIL and pass through the private club lobby and never see anyone in the other clubs
  17. oh well, in my humble opinion I still think pass is better than 2 spades, if opener had 5H and 4S and 18 hcp I would rather he bid his game than land me in 2Sx, I think pass and wait for p's balance is still better than overcalling 2 spades with a mediocre suit and no redeaming features about the hand. KH is prob worth nothing may be not vuln against vuln I would bid 2 S at imps but pass looks best at mps as I would hope p aggresively balances. I have been called nuts before so I don't mind LOL
  18. I think you should pass and wait for a balance, you have no guarentees they dont have a good opener and a spade lead may prove a bad choice, if opps have a fit and they pass 2 hearts out your p has to do as much as he can not to let them play in a 2 level fit, if he cant balance there, I thinkk 2 spades x down scores worse than 2 hearts making
  19. I do not play nam yats but this is quite interesting, why cant 4 of a major be premptive 8 cards and 4 of a minor be a long major suit ( 7 or 8)and a second minor suit i.e the one bid 4 at least not sure of point range but weakish i.e. 4C = clubs and a major you can bid 4D and then major is bid, no idea what structure you can have after you have found a 2 suit fit, but sure there must be something sensible available 4D = diamonds and a major you can bid 4H and p can correct ( may be better if 4H is left in as the hand that is unknown is hidden) no idea what structure you can have after you have found a 2 suit fit, but sure there must be something sensible available I am sure I can invent a brilliant structure over the weekend LOL (just joking) , is there a convention like this anyway where ??
  20. I am not sure if I am on the right track, but I spent a lot of time in Yahoo before I found bridgebase, one thing I liked and still do like as an option is the choice given with social lounge, beginners lounge, intermediate lounge and advanced lounge. Whilst they have the same issue as here, people in advanced that dont belong there, it is easy enough to find friends in any of these lounges and as for losing friends, I have friends from yahoo I still play with and I do not play in yahoo anymore well for 18 months probably, yahoo messanger and msn etc keeps you current with friends. the extra value added items in BBO are a bonus not available anywhere else (well if they are they do not seem to be as good)so may be all areas would be segregatd, I have no idea whether seperate servers is an issue as I am no comp buff, BUT, I do not think anyone should fear the split if that is the way forward, I actually do think it will be a benifit, I am just not sure some people like change anyway  I do not belive you will lose the community spirit
  21. if that had happened I would not have been doing this post I would be drowning my sorrows probably
  22. the trouble was the best line I could come up with was -1
  23. I think there is a sort of split happening anyway by region, take BBO Italia in the forums, look at some of the tourneys, they are segregated by flag anyway, how many tables are segregated by expert or SEF is quite frequently seen, segregation is already here, will a bit further really hurt if it alieviates fred and udays problem.
  24. how about As wins Ks next discard AC Kd see Q drop 9s trump in hand low to AH see K drop play 10 H lose to J or Q if LHO leads clubwin the K and play 3H and that makes ur 9H good when LHO wins with the Qor JH, you can get back to hand with small D to J and play clubs tp win 11 tricks if LHO leads low heart it is made if LHO leads high heart safe if LHO leads D that is safe as you can take both D tricks and back to dummy with KC and play 3 H forcing your 9 to be the winner
