that helene is exactly why I am asking was 1NT such a bad bid looking at alternatives. I just have probs with some types of hands and I am sort of looking for an answer, as these sort do come up more often than I like and I generally miss a good contract or get in over my head, I am trying to get an answer I am comforatable with. M y 1NT bid which seems in the right point range and ok it is not a perfectly balanced hand, but what the heck I have seen worse bids (usually I make them) LOL

This hand is not worth reversing IMO. what would you do with it, and I agree with you Mauro, but it is 16 hcp some think this is good enough to reverse with, but against a 1NT good 8 or 9 hcp you may have a game

TD's choice whether we like it or not, BBO gives the option to bar kibbers, so there must be a reason for it.......... I can but can't sympathise with the TD that bars Kibbers, they are all deluded if the reason is to stop cheaters, if that is not the reason then what is their reason??? if you wish to cheat try www.skype.com, I imagine that this is the best way if you are that way inclined, Pard opens 1!C and responder says, hey nice do you have a major suit, I have a cracking hand. no need to kib anyone with the communication methods freely available to all. I decided to get a basic book on defence as I seem to have problems there (and loads of other places) anyway the book is called Really Easy Defence, it is published by the English Bridge Union and it is better than anything else I have read about defence, I am not saying it is better than other books, I just think, it is just very easy to read and very easy to understand, there are examples of what to do in each chair and covers the basics. I doubt Fred would learn anything from it, but I am sure it will help all the people starting out and trying seriously to improve. I believe it is part of a series , I will let you know what some of the other books are like as I finish them

What do each of you consider a reverse is how many HCP? can you add a bit for dist? what use is ingbergman? what in your opinion is the best way to handles reverse by either opener or as a responder

Hi I would like your opinions on the following please Assuming you lead 4th best holding AQ932 or KJ832 or something similar as long as the 3 and 2 are in the hand you should lead the 3 what happens to the rule of 11 if you lead the 2 instead of the 3? does it still work if you have 4 higher rather than the 3 you are supposed to? if someone was to lead like that, is it allowed?, is it cheating?, is it plain stupid?, is it treating your partner unfairly? if you wanted to play like this should you change to 3/5 leads? any comments you have on this please woudld be welocmed

this may seem a dumb question or two to some , but I will ask it anyway. why does some one not alert their card play i.e. 1/. This may be a false card why do people not alert every bid as 2/. This could be a pshyce ( there are conventions out there that must come up less regularly than a Pshcye so if you know your pard Pshcyes occasionally (then it is accepted as part of your system) I bet it is more frequent than some weird gadgets) so surely this must be alertable. 3/. if you provide (and I say if) a detailed cc , why do you have to alert anything? it would be simple to post a detailed cc from geocities (free) msm messenger (free) 4/. why are 2!C artificail bids not acceptable as Pshyces, when a Pshyce can be a gross misrepresentation of the facts anyway? 5/. why are brown sticker bid not accepted by some governing bodies, when that is no more disruptive than a Pshyce

I work nights and cant get to a club to play, so I play on the net, it is fun and cheap also, but would prefer to play live if I could

I think that a polish club (I club bid) should not be alerted as it is their standard and I think that it slows the game down more than people nipping off to make a coffee, (it is heck of a bid to type out in full) does it hurt to read polish club and see what it is anyway, so you know, do you know effective defence against it anyway??? Do you alert your sayc 1 club bid?????? surely that is alertable or do you only worry about rules in your country and not take into account they may be in the same position as you ???, they may not even speak your language alert in tourneys with full rules ok (maybe you can expect that, if stated), in the main lobby why does it matter, and why do people cite the alert structure from their country to someone from another country. I have seen many team games set up in a few minutes and they cant have enough time to discuss their own system properly so, why shoud they give you more info than they give their pards????? the main lobby has a relaxed informal attitude, lets keep it like that. bridge is only a game, unless your Fred and every little detail matters as they play at such a high level, I think I have been told that concentrate on the basics and leave fancy conventions alone, I think the same applies to the guiding rules of bridge, half the people that whine about non alerts, cant even play the cards properly. what does the following mean 160 hands played 72.11 imps ave 0.45 8 hands played 47.92 MPS I have no idea what good bad or average is what should you be aiming to get over a period of time? should you be happy with a + score in both 0+ at imps and 50% + at MPs
