don't understand this: Pass is forcing because over a preempt, partner has bid game to make, you don't preempt over a preempt. surely p could have say 6313 and 0 points given we're white vs red?

I am really reluctant to pass here, so I would probably bid 2N keep the auction alive. Not too keen on X

I would bid 2H QJTx is quite a nice holding and partner should have some values for his X and we're a passed hand so we can't be that great but what do I know? :) :P

What I would do is win the spade and cash a second spade to try and see if west started with a doubleton or 3 +. After that I'm struggling to see how its any more than a guess on the clubs. I guess if spades are west 2 east 5 then west is more likely to have the Q club so probably finesse that way but if it's (34) then it seems like a guess? another think i would probably do is if West showed 3 or more is then cash a third spade incase its now west 5 east 2 to play east now for CQ although that obviously requires West to have x6789 of spades which is quite a long shot :)

Thanks Zel but tbh Acol club is such a poor standard. the fact I know stayman probably puts me in the top 10% of players there lol so many "experts" one of which has (un)fortunatley made his way on to the forums!!!!

In the club today, LHO opened 1 club and p responded 2 clubs (which I alerted as michaels) RHO asked for the point range and I explained that it would be either weak (i.e. under 10) or strong (i.e. over 16) as that is what we had been taught. the hand was played out with no problems in some minor part score but after I noticed P had made her bid on 13 points. I asked P about it afterwards but didn't really get much of a clear response lol :) A few hands later, a very similar thing happened, LHO opened 1D p bid 2D and I was asked about the point range.
