And there was me thinking that death by execution, never mind discrimination of vertically-challenged people, was outlawed in many of the United States.... a more interesting variation of this puzzle is where the 10 people are siamese twins and colour-blind, with each one of the twins suffering from chronic dandruff, their height being irrelevant

John Maybe deep deep down Fred believes that no one really, really, if one were to be honest, likes themselves... hence not being able to make yourself a friend

Yes, Sumo wrestling is my specialty. I am happy to learn that you got women involved in the UK. My only wish is that they are bit slimmer than the guys in Japan. Roland Oh Rolly Rolly You suggesting you a 'fattist' now?????? Hmmmm you should be ashamed... Aberlour10, i think you overlooked the nested c in his '1,24 m' pole-vault remark.

Isnt the friends list etc saved in your BBO folder on your hard drive? Cant be bothered to look :) Serves you right, O Cuckoo-Clock One, for not making the effort to become a TD :)

lol read the article and this is just too funny Saw Tony Forrester in London about 6 months ago....the LAST person on this earth to talk about dress codes....he was the scruffiest person in the whole building (and the dress he was wearing wasnt really flattering anyway) [felt so sorry for the poor bloke had to put 2p in the plastic cup he had in front of him :) ] the minute i have to wear a tuxedo to play bridge, an item of clothing i do not own and never intend to , (bad enough to have to pay the exorbitant entrance fees) is the minute that i will .. ah waste of breath

Unless Erich Maria Remarque has reincarnated himself and released an xth edition of his famous novel i think the debate between Josh and Richard has been extended to ridiculous proportions :) :) Rich, I meant since 2001 give or take a couple of years

Weired conventions in Lancaster
slothy replied to helene_t's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
You won't be able to tell. The English are very polite :) Lancaster, yet again, must be a small enclave of misfits extremely unlike rest of population i have played bridge with / against Geezuz Hilarious exchange. Of course Hans, my behaviour at the table is impeccable. [it is my behaviour off it that has elicited a court injunction, a restraining order and the odd foray of shadow-boxing] -
I bet you know a lot about Sumo wrestling though Rolly? (they have brought this hallowed, Royal sport to a local pub near where i live...the only difference is that the participants are women, wear no clothes and the going is a bit muddy)

Right, I noticed your Y-chromosome was blocked by my internet decency filter. So we will all have baby sloth girls. Except for those who use Lynx. my Norton Anti Virus basically saw my other sex chromosome and stopped it saying it was X-rated :)

Dear All Literati, It is so long since i started a thread (and many i am sure wish it were longer :) and i have been told for some reason my posts seem to curtial threads prematurely :( ) that i thought i would do so toot de sweet. In a post-work meeting last week fuelled by an excessive amount of Bulgarian vodka without necessary absorbent solids (on that note, if anyone saw the graffitti 'Aardvarks suck: Hillary C didnt vote for Bush Either ' sprayed over my local town hall in the early hours of the next morning and were offended i sincerely apologise) we decided to start a book club. Basically, each person puts forward 4 books each month. Then the group selects 4 (i think) that will get purchased for the 'library'. The books have to be 'Modern Classics' : that is books that have received (many) good reviews (not just off the authors granny) , popular acclaim , a wide audience and published this millenium. I have got 3 .... i want some recommendations for a 4th. Of course, the books must be in English :) Although u may think that a particular book written in Hottentot or some Venetian dialect is worthy of literary merit and should be read pls wait till some unemployed translator has time to massacre the text and produce an English transcription that bears little resemblance to its original. There is no specific genre as such. Books by Harold Robbins and Dr Seuss Spin-offs will be ignored. Any book which has a main character called Alex who is a swashbuckling superstar that saves the world from bushy(sic)-eyebrowed evil dictators and has every woman slavering all over him will be given favourable consideration. Alex

i am willing to donate my sperm and homuncula by natural methods if there is any woman, or any women for that matter: don't want to be judgemental of the promiscuous, out there who meet my rather high criteria

Re Math education in the UK A lot of kids in the UK - a country fallaciously perceived (by some) as some educational paradigm, yet is scraping the bottom in european 'League Tables' despite attempts by the Education Minister to massage figures and trump out gaping disparities in the statistics - are leaving school without a basic and 'working' concept of fractions (and its illegitimate 'half-sisters' %ages, decimals, ratios etc) , geometry and basic algebra - never mind more elevated ideas like calculus and advanced trigonometry. Those that perform well are those that have a succouring environment at home and concerned parents who invest their own time (not necessarily money) and effort. I have worked with too many young kids who have fallen so far behind that it becomes a Sisyphean task to get them up to speed to barely pass their GCSE. Half the climb is persuading them of the value of having an education - however futile and unaccommodating it may appear to them AT THE TIME. Once this attitude is instilled, they become receptive to learning and achieve beyond their, and of others more judgemental, expectations. It is a shame that at least here education is becoming undervalued and even sneered at, and this attitude is becoming more and more acceptable.

Dear B Cup (aka Aisha), Chances are he was a bit disgruntled coz i had been wagging his ear on previous boards :) But, i must say, if what you said to him in private chat was any near as annoying as what you write to the table when i play with you, then i can understand his frustration and disparaging reply I rest my case Clarence Darrow :D

As cats are rather horrible clingy creatures who never piss in the litter-tray provided, could not we speed up the simulation so they all perish simultaneously?
