If they are not producing the same results from simulation I suspect your premise that they are using the same seed could be wrong. I have no knowledge of how GIB picks it's seed but when I programed I multiplied a base seed by a function of the lower decimals of the time clock to randomize the seed even more. Obviously they're doing something to randomize the seed or the simulations would give the same result.

does Gib have an agreement whereby it would lead the 2 from a residue of T872? I don't think it does. So this unblocking may be right if you switch A♥ with T♠. Maybe move some other cards around, maybe give east Q♥ so points similar. Agreed Gib is very generous on defense but this case at least there was a chance it was the right play.

You cant save hand simulations across tables. I believe it violates the rules of bridge. (Program would in effect know what happened at other tables) I suspect the problem is the small number of simulations run. The more simulations run the better and more consistant results you get.

Standard minor raises for beginners
steve2005 replied to antonylee's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Assume it shows a stopper looking for the most likely contract of 3N. If opener goes past 3N and doesn't bid 4 or 5 of the minor it was a cuebid looking for slam. either side bidding 3 of the minor is non-forcing -
Gib is giving full weight to it's KQxxx ♠ sitting under a 1♠ opening. If Gib had KQxxx of a minor suit or 5♥ and a 4-card minor then Gib would have it's bid. Gib doesn't do in and out evaluation if it's hands..

What about as an display option? then if its a problem u can turn off feature.

am I being unreasonable?
steve2005 replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
blasting out a slam when you were willing to play in 2♦ if partner has ill fitting 10. Now partner could have an ill-fitting 13 and you want to be in slam? I vote unreasonable. -
I suggest that in all places suit symbols are used on BBO use the colours used in bbo forum editor. ♣♦♥♠ with many people using tablets writing is small. I find the bidding is the problem but I suspect its easier to do for all cases
-
♠ lead would have held to plus 1. But really doubler has a perfect hnd any less 3N is going to be down. Gib is stupid with only 4♥ it should bid 4♥, 3N a very iffy contract on most hands a single stop not the Axx rarely is enough.

Gib is giving itself pts for its shortness in ♣ a suit partner is known to have 5-cards in. This is just bad in-out evaluation and Fred should suggest correction by programmers .
-
Yes hydra is right. this is clear Gib has no clue what to bid if it doubles with a hand outside the normal range. Gib also has no clue how to bid if a human shows a hand outside the normal range for a takeout double but that's another thread even though I think it's related. :)

What about a situation where you know opponents system (apparently better then them) should you ask meaning of bid you think they've forgotten to alert even though u have no intention of bidding
-
Yes is double dummy. The part where you cash exactly one ♥ is especially bad. You have to peek at opps hands to get this right. Think better to take ♦ finesse and go down like a man! lol Unless opps have made a very descriptive bid.
-
On vugraph every couple sessions I see a complete meltdown where one person has forgotten the system. This occurs pretty often with life masters. Can someone explain why its UI because you have dared to look at a conv card or just asking a question to see what opp playing is UI. Either you can protect yourself or you can give UI its seems like your the one screwed when opponents don't alert or forget their system!
-
Yes give West Gib bonehead award for not passing 2H with 4 nice hearts and a partner's (correction) who's overcalled whos opened 1N . Take the plus.
-
I myself prefer not to play transfers after a 1N overcall. Ive seen it also in a book Acol in competition by Eric Crowhurst. Also seen in other systems. Not everyone plays transfers that's why you have to alert. If everyone played same system wouldn't need alerts!
-
at matchpoints might not double, opp probably in dumb spot so top no double. who wants to see see KQ♠ behind u and a ♦ void in dummy gack imps double-time to get greedy
-
You bid 3N on hands like that most likely youll be in 3N down when 4♥ makes
-
i think more than 100% to go round. I think east GIB has a lot to blame. Why is Gib coming in so late? surely its better to come in 1st round doubling 2♣ or bidding 3♣. East Gib was essentially forcing West Gib to bid at the 5-level easily could be 800.
-
We have seen a lot of hand where the human has doubled then bid a new suit showing a big hand and Gib doesn't believe him. This hand illustrates Gib does not understand the concept of doubling with a big hand. This doesn't rate a double. Its just a min 3♠ bid even a pass would not be totally outrageous.
-
I think its a classic unblocking play.
-
I've seen methods where a transfer is made on a 4-card suit with a canapé hand. Have seen this with both INV or GF. Didn't think much of it but everyone has their system.

Revision (a form of Precision) 1♣ 16+ unbalanced 21+ balanced - 1♦ waiting 2♦ 4441 16-24 hcp - 2N GF relay asks for singleton 3♥ (1♠) - 3♠ sets ♥ as trump (though 4♥ may be best bid here) 4♣ min 16-18 hcp but no wasted ♠ honor - 4♥ to play
-
Does 6♥ have much hope on a trump lead?
-
no hand !?
