  1. Interesting question, Why would Gib lead A♥? when south probably has K♥. so not leading ♥ is likely off 1 or 2. Yet GIB wont lead A against 7N for a sure + score.

  3. the value in 5 years V(5) = 100,000/(interest rate-inflation) then you would have to calculate the present value of V(5) which would be V(5)/(1+(interest rate-inflation))^5 http://www.financeformulas.net/Present_Value_of_Growing_Perpetuity.html
  4. This is one of those hands where 14/30 is better than 30/14. then can Q ask with 5♦
  5. Does Gib promise KQJ if leading the K in NT? But obviously would continue with the J if it had it.
  6. 3N is hopeless. You need tricks in hearts for communication and just playing tricks. With singleton K♥ you probably need something like 20 pts to have a chance at 3N cause you'll be playing alone. 2♠- if p has 3♠ probably have game in ♠ but when Gib bids ♦ there is no game likely, so should sign of in 3♥. At matchpoints it's probably not even worth looking for ♠ as game so unlikely and just pass 2♥
  7. Gib has 8 loser hand with clear preference for ♥. Partner is allowed to assume you have about 8 pts when competing over pre-empts. So, no I would not cuebid not even close imo. If I were to make a strong bid (with a better hand but same shape it would be 5♥.
  8. Don't understand Gibs plan on this.. Gib has show it's shape. Knows you have ♣ support. Why doesn't it accept your decision to play 3N it has shown shortage in !d and you've said you have it stopped? Its a complete min for it's bidding why bid on? 4♥ shows twice rebiddable ♥ this kindov suit quality isnt helpful in 4♥, 5♣ or 6♣.
  9. If 5-4 you don't use NMF, you bid 3♥ naturally. Standard to show 4-card ♥ suit with 1♥ having 4-4 in majors.
  10. Anther question, why doesn't Gib make cuebid in support of ♥? It has mobster hand for ♥. Gib seems to cuebid and sign-off when it should cuebid or KC.
  11. 2♥ is ridiculous! bidding 3♥ : Gib has blown a gasket! not doubling 2♥ is forgivable, opp may have 3minor not doubling 3♥ is unforgivable your killing 3♥ and opener can handle 4minor
  12. uva72uva72 is right. shouldn't be leading singleton. if I remember correctly NGib showed a suit and p raised it freely. Hmm might that be a good idea, lead your partner's suit. pump declarer and eventually declarer will be out of trump and you run ♥ but Gib almost never leads suit bid by partnership. also, Gib should refuse to ruff the club, with the idea of getting trump control later.
  13. I believe Fantunes doesn't open all 4441 of that range 1N, so possibility even rarer. not sure the exceptions.
  14. i hate to spoil the fun for those in ACBLland but... GCC requires a known suit for overcalls other than 2♣. So, 2N as unnamed minor or as unspeciiied 2 suiter are out. too bad 2♦ as a unnamed major would be nice. Note: balancing seat anything is ok. Maybe 2N as a cuebid then ok!? Ask the lawyers lol
  15. Gib has no reason to make any cuebid, it doesn't have much extra and 3N denied a maximum. Gib should be signing off.in 4♥, not forcing partnership to the 5-level on potentially minimum values. I certainly hope 4♣ isn't Gerber as one person speculated. You need 4♣ as a cuebid and in suit contracts you generally want to Keycard not find out how many aces you have.
  16. South not even close to having their bid. North pretty close to having their bid but just hate having 7 pts tied up in doubleton ♣ What North needs is a artificial 3♣/3♦ bid asking for a good limit raise or maybe even as a natural game try
  17. This happens so often I suspect there is a bug in the simulation program. Perhaps something like if the simulation shows no difference in what GIB leads then it makes a random lead. So if GIB thinks 7N is hopeless is 13:1 against GIB leading the Ace
  18. Freak hands usually play better in their long suit often even if there is a 4-4 fit.
  19. Absolutely correct. Besides at our club were lucky if opening lead is made within 10 seconds (even when lead obvious). how about other people's clubs? :D
  20. Yes, need to have a rule never pass cuebids!. My wife uses the play 4 hands for practice so I cant show hands. She's terrified to make a cuebid because Gib passes them!
  21. I couldn't view your link but what your complaining about is pretty common occurrence
  22. call me stupid but I don't get it!? South makes +1 on this hand if plays sensibly (just as Gib predicts trick 1) pitch a ♦ on A♣ pull trump, give up a ♠ and last ♠ is good maybe your referring to Gib not covering 9♥ on opening lead. think that's obvious play, playing ten cant help and can see potential of later overruff of dummy
  23. Don't know why people want to introduce ♠ at the 3-level. you have a ♥ fit best take the sure fit. the consensus is 3♠ is forcing, I don't think this hand is good enough to force. I would give up penalty double for a hand that INV opposite an above avg 2N (you decide just hearts or for unspecified suit)
  24. Apparently Gib hasn't read M Lawence's book on overcalls lol. overcalling at 2-level on list of never do
