  1. doubling 3♥ before bidding 3♠ where I have 2 pretty sure trump tricks opposite a strong NT
  2. to convince ACBL. email / write them and tell/post for others to do it
  3. not using Flannery on 4=5=2=2 hands is kinda weird, but does allow 4-4 Flannery under GCC. the posters methods have 1♥/1♠ as unbalanced which leaves only choice 1N, not ideal unless you have minor suit honors. but if you didn't have unbalanced restriction on 1♥ and opened 1♥ then your stuck rebidding 2-card ♣ suit or 5-card ♥ suit over 1N. This is a bad choice and one of the reasons for Flannery.
  4. Gib doesn't know the meaning of PASS - a reasonable contract that might just make
  5. maybe not everyone opened 3♠ and never got a spade lead then not so obvious.
  6. the way most people use the word relay is not the way ACBL uses relay so your ok there. Your 2♦ Flannery cant be 4-4 need to be 5-4 or better Also, over 1♥ your 1N forcing response cannot guarantee inv values, not sure what your doing there but might want to look into it.edit I see there is some chance of passing so foget it
  7. Gib doesn't encourage ( I think ) so a killer defense would be amazing. Gib passed twice with 7♥ now that's amazing!
  8. It's a computer, most computers aren't very good a bidding.
  9. Because the ACBL added a weak 2 type bid without thinking of the consequences. Where Intermediate 2 opening bids which are two-suiters are required to have two known suits (5-4 or better), the most obvious example of which is Flannery but applies to other 2 suiters.
  10. some people define unusual (and Michaels) type hands the 3 most common ranges are 5+, 8+ and 5-11 or 15+. also some people don't like to have a wide difference in length between the two suits. need to decide which camp your in
  11. I would open 4♦. For me 5♦ would be better suit notwithstanding the side 5-card ♣ suit which no doubt enticed you.
  12. but only if p has A♥ or void in ♥ which seems low. Don't know if Gib has way to ask for ♥ control? 5 ♥ asking?. but to bid 7♣ missing A♥ when there is still lots of bidding room not good plus if p has a void KQ ♥ wasted on your bidding grand with 9 working hcp
  13. What a silly 7♣ bid. Gib doesn't have 1st round control in ♥ a suit bid by the opposition. But even if Gib had A♥ instead of KQ♥ its a huge gamble to bid 7♣ when 6♣ will likely give a good score. Partner is bidding on shape and Gib is assuming a monster hand and simulating its way to a bad contract.
  14. think its more likely with all the changes they have been making their sometimes not updating the descriptions.
  15. I agree with this. Acol can have some pretty weak 1♥ openings, especially if playing strong 2's which isn't stated.
  16. Heres a system Double big hand at least INV strength bidding a suit natural non-forcing jumping in a suit GF, distributional hand
  17. This convention not on Gib's CC (conv raise 3N is not checked). In fact it lists 3N as natural 13-15 hcp presumably 2-card support course wouldn't be first time CC is wrong can anyone post a hand with 3N having a description.
  18. when you say partner dropped card on table. Did you mean it was accidental or was he meaning it as a lead? not sure it matters just curious. seems that the opening lead is placed faced down, so would be considered "played" and your partner played out of turn not lead out of turn. not a director, just trying common sense
  19. then he shouldn't have used exclusion KC if looking for side K♠, how bout just splintering (if playing that)
  20. Points, Smoints. look at it from a loser count standpoint, which is quite reasonable when there is a fit. ♣ - 3 losers ♦ - 1 loser ♥ - 1 loser ♠ - 3 losers but this should be adjusted as you wont have 3 losers opposite a 5-card major opening. Lets say partner has QJT63 and trump splits 2-0. now you have 2 ♠ losers More likely partner has A♠ then you have 0 or 1 loser or partner has KQ then you have 1 loser So its reasonable to assume the equivalent of the Q♠ and 2 losers in ♠ This gives Gibs hand 7 losers which is good enough to raise to game but along with having 2 aces and the length equivalent of the Q♠ is worth cooperating if partner makes a slam try imho.
  21. question about millennium club. 1♦ seems to promise 4♦ and they use 5-card majors, do they have a way to show 4=4=1♦=4 10-14 pts? [edit] found in the second link (which is much better) 13-14 hcp 4=4=1=4 open 1N with less tend to pass. may also open 1M with good suit.
  22. your pretty well restricting your potential players with a multi 2♣ and 2♦ bids. most people cant play that.
  23. with just a cursory glance 6♥ is cold. [edit] looking at it later 7♥ is pretty easy on obvious ♠ lead [/edit] Gib should know/simulate its way to seeing that partner with 4♥ is gonna score more in 4♥ than 3♠X. All those ♦ will often be worthless on defense and partner's ♥ are likely not going to be worth much more. Hands are very flat and its still better to bid on as it usually is when you have an undisclosed fit. In fact, if I was lycier's partner he wouldn't have had to make what in Gib's definition is a penalty double cause I would already have bid 4♥!
  24. on bbo, when a partner concedes you don't get a chance to object thru the software. If the opponents accept the concessions that ends the hand. Now you can complain to the director if in a tournament, but unless the trick is for sure you'll run into the same problems as in over the table bridge.
