  1. OK I can forgive Gib for thinking to rebid it's magnificent 6-card ♥ suit but where does Gib get 7-9 pts from? If Gib had 7-9 pts like A♥ instead of 2♥ you might actually make 4♥
  2. Of note to those in ACBLland conventional redoubles and free bids are allowed over a double in GCC. you probably need a bid to show min hand 5-4 in the majors (1N is convenient or 2♦=5♥4♠ & 2♥=5♠4♥) If there is no competition with 4-4 in majors you show ♥ and its partners job to show ♠, with competition opener can make a negative double with 4♠ hopefully.
  3. I was just reading an article by Larry Cohen about responding to 2♣ using 2♦ as waiting and cheaper minor (in this case 3♦) as 2nd negative Cohen article I don't see why you cant have it both ways. yes 3♦ is negative but if opener has a GF hand with a 4-card major they bid 3♥/3♠. I don't see a problem with responder also having some values with a 4-card major making ostensibly a 2nd negative bid. A more difficult question is what you do over 2♣-2♦-3♦-3♥ ?
  4. As your playing 2N as a limit (+) raise shouldn't there be some attempt to see if your hands fit for game, rather than just 1M-2N-3♣-3M and then going to game if your a max? over 1♥-2N you have 3♣/3♦/3♥. 3♣ could be min with a shortage, min with no shortage or GF hand and 3♦3♥ could be min with a shortage. so you can relay over 3♣ over 1♠ you could have 3♣/3♦/3♥ similar meanings and have 3♠ as a distributional GF
  5. think 4C is too high. shows more than you have. could try 3D. but its going to be hard to stay out of game
  6. On the first one, you didn't show anything extra after 2N and denied a fit. Gib blew a gasket on this one if it thinks it can make 6♣ opposite a 2N rebid nevermind 7♣
  7. if this is a money game your being fixed. EW cold for 7♥/7♠
  8. If south thinks north's bid is a strong balanced hand why did he pass 2N? He has 9 pts 3N should be pretty good.
  9. GIB doesn't but most serious partnership use 3♦ conventionally. 3♦ natural isn't very useful, where you gonna end up
  10. what Mycroft says makes sense and 1♥ is unlikely to be passed out
  11. what's your screen size? mine is 15.6" and am very comfortable with my results tab open on the right
  12. That doesn't explain playing Q♥ at trick 3, has no upside. partner might have QK double (rare) in which youll crash honors or opponent may play your partner for QJ and go for a drop, playin Q gives situation away
  13. 1N rebid 12-16 at least over 1♥ with 2♣ Crowhurst. Over a minor you can still use 12-16 but 15-16 or 15-17 easier 2-way NMF ok if your using XYZ style so can signoff in 2D, but in Crowhurst you can force or INV so you can still have 2D NF. Of course XYZ greatly increases the number of hands you can show 2N rebid 17-19 over 1M or over a minor if using 12-16 or 15-16 1N rebids 2N rebid after a 2/1 shows extra values (good 14+) and stoppers, 2M rebid could be a 5-carder and usually shows min values
  14. 1♠-2♥ GF 3♦-4♦ 4♥ (Redwood/Kickback for ♦) - 5♦ 2KC &Q♦ 6♦
  15. when you say 1N is natural, what sort of strength? I go 18-19 are we on the same page?
  16. Gib has 2 short suit which was it planning on showing? should do a try needing help in ♦ and it needs a lot of help or some aces. especially troubling is lack of A♥ so if dummy can ruff ♦ opp can lead 2 rds of trump
  17. GIB is counting pts for a singleton in opener's first bid suit. This easy way to get too high when hands don't fit well
  18. As a human I follow that rule don't see why GIB cant should be easy.
  19. Its strange that GIB led A♠ against 7♣ there could easily be K♠ in dummy and a void in declarers hand, so it might be wrong. Against 7N A♠ cant be wrong and if its good for 7♣ its even better for 7NX
  20. what if your not playing 2♥ as a bust and not playing a multi 2♦? the poster didn't mentioned any system and there are lots of ways to play over 2♣. What do you do with 0 pts?
  21. freak hand - don't have the tools to find your off AK♠, tho I must say after the original 2♣ auction you might suspect. All you have to do is convince GIB that not mentioning ♠ might indicate some losers. playing precision 1♣- 2♠ any 4441 8+ hcp (or whatever bid your using for 4441) I'm sure the relayers can come up with an auction to get to 5♣ when right, even handling interference.
  22. Is the key to get doubled? then ace not lead.
  23. 1♠-4N is usually the wrong bid no matter what it means. sure you can construct some freak hand where u really need to know if partner has exactly A♠. but you have 15 other possible bids (and thousands of possible sequences) 99.9% of the time (or higher) surely one of these are better!
  24. If you have your normal opening bid you have no reason to run from a double. you don't know what partner has they could have 16 pts and your killing 1N. only reason to pull if your sub-minimum, then you will have decent rebid cause youll have distribution, like a second 5 card suit or a 6-card suit. running by rebidding your original 5-card suit is laughable. if that's a good spot then partner is going to lead your suit (oh forgot its GIB it wont lead your suit) and you will likely set
