  1. Would open 1♥ we might belong in ♠ I would have made a neg double with east's hand not 2♥ then make a limit raise in ♥ As for west I'm not sitting for a pen X with all those ♥ after east raises
  2. Yes bizarre. Gib had 13 tricks barring east have 4 trump. just pull trump and run clubs. obviously a faulty simulation. but no way GIB can pitch all their spades. must have been a faulty simulation by GIB. was it the fast GIB or the advanced GIB?
  3. pass=0-4 Rdbl=5-7 1♦=♥ 1♥=♠ 1♠=balanced 8-13 1N=♣ 2♣=♦ 2♦=multi - weak 2 in a major 2♥=4441 2♠=5m440 2N=balanced 14+
  4. Yes this Precision bid belongs in the Natural Bidding Discussion section lol just like when you open 1♣ you might have a 4-card major same reasoning allows 2♣ to possibly have a 4-card major only difference is you promise 3♣ for 1♣ and 5♣ for 2♣
  5. How bout 3♦ as asking for a stopper with 3N being a ♦ stopper and 4♣ as no stopper. 3N seems a likely goal and may be useful if your thinking of a ♣ slam.
  6. Also, probably only in 3rd/4th seat. Most people play it that way. The GIB notes don't specify.
  7. Loved the Google search thing lol Magic Diamond looks interesting. responses to 1♣ look good without interference, but then most systems do well without interference. 1♣ is any 13-16 unbalanced or 15-17 balanced. However, if they get a 2♠ or a 3-level pre-empt I don't like their chances of getting to a good spot, staying out when right or doubling when right.
  8. To get back on topic If I have 5♠ 4♣ 6 hcp with most if not all my hcp in your two long suit Vul at imps I really don't want to bid 2♠ on this hand playing pre-empts with 4 card minors even with 6♠ would hesitate but do it. This would be a much more useful convention if you are allowed to have a 5-card minor or even to specify that you must have a 5-card minor 5-5 in the blacks I would be much more willing to bid 2♠ at any vul
  9. Wow you have a lot of people playing Precision. Around here Hamilton Canada, there is maybe 1 pair playing Precision and 1 playing a forcing club system
  10. GIB for sure didn't do this. it ran simulated hands based on the bidding. Now maybe the simulation showed a ♠ lead doesn't get many tricks. now the reason the simulation would come to this conclusion is basically your logic but don't for a second think GIB thought this way If it does anything consistently it makes a safe lead.
  11. I think people bid some number of NT rather than doubling with 4=4=4=1.Treating as balanced as 4441 is so rare (and only 1 card off being balanced) and if partner responds in your singleton it's awkward. Not a perfect solution admittedly.
  12. yes obviously you have to bid strongly with 20 pts cant wait for 25
  13. yes is GF. partner could have 0 so to game force opposite 0 need 25, ♠32 ♥432 ♦32 ♣65432 would be a hideous example of crap partner could have but realistically partner likely to have something so humans do on less
  14. GIB plays Lebensohl so 2N requires you to bid 3♣ anything else is GF so maybe not 25 pts but certainly a very strong hand
  15. Chip Martel uses 1N-3♦ as 4-4 in majors 4-1 in minors, I presume they can bid 3♥ to find the singleton. With 3♥/3♠ 4441 and singleton in bid suit
  16. Because allowing in 1st 2nd seat was an invitation to psych with Drury being used as a psychic controller. ACBL doesn't like psychic controller bids
  17. Kxxx x KQxx xxxx I wouldn't open this but would love to have a Drury raise available after partner opens 1♠
  18. This doesn't make sense. if your opening on hands where you wish you were playing Drury doesn't it make sense to play Drury? Also, I don't understand people's logic that because people are opening lighter Drury obsolete. It's still better to play at the 2-level than the 3-level. Responder can have a hand not good enough to open light but because of partner's opening has a fit so worth some sort of constructibe or INV raise.
  19. have you seen the state of current prempts 8 cards to the ten possible lol
  20. probably needs 2 of top 4 honors so AJ or QJ ok but Axxxxx not
  21. 1♦-P(too poor a suit for 2♠)-1♥-1N-P-2♠ ( oh yeah guess u can transfer)
  22. ive had that same discussion with partner playing strong NT. why didn't you open1N? oh it wasn't the right sort of hand (16 hcp balanced no 5 card suit)
  23. 5N? p ♠ could be headed by QJ and need to play in 5♠
