  1. K♥ and solid ♦ whose going to pass 5♥? not anyone I play with.
  2. You have 27 hcp between you, pretty hard to stay out of game even if it's not great. But I agree this sequence is not well discussed by many partnerships.
  3. 100% correct. hmm guess I could've just used +1Like, didn'tknow about that
  4. if u consider your hand worth a 2/1 in ACOL I submit you should force after a reverse and bid 3♣. you have ♦ stopper so 3N will be ok if opener doesn't have extra length in the majors and is short in ♣
  5. cuebid of 4♥ might work out well. usually Gib like to do that.
  6. Is ok to suppress support with INV+ strength as ♠ may be better and finding a double fit useful for slam purposes. However, with 2nd bid Gib should let you in on the secret with a 3♥ bid.
  7. The law doesn't quite work so should only be a guide. You have to make the final decision. What ackwoo says sounds wise
  8. In another discussion bidding goes 2C-2H-2S-6N (ridiculous) If Gib is going to take over the bidding as responder to 2♣ it doesn't matter what system you use. Responder should be describing their hand as best as possible not jumping to slam or using Blackwood/Keycard.
  9. Forcing to 2N?! Do Gib programmers not think it can make 3N with only 30 pts?
  10. That's a very small error for what is essentially one big guess. lol
  11. 3N explanation is 5-6♠. So design obviously to rebid 7-card suit.
  12. I don't think Bridgebum_ was suggesting get rid of all the positive responses (like 2♥/2♠/3♣/3♦) If opener's primary suit is a major, 2N really burns up bidding space.
  13. Gib already has MOSCITO theoretically. But how much would be needed to bring it up to date? How many people know enough MOSCITO for it to be worthwhile? I suspect not enough for cost
  14. Playing Gazzilli or something similar makes it playable to rarely open 1N with a 5-card major.
  15. Why are you opening the weaker minor? Sounds like your trying to inhibit a lead. Should be alerted.
  16. Regardless of your 1N opening range (I play both weak 12-14 and strong 15-17 depending on partner) I have been persuaded to bid 1♠ over 1♥. Reason is a killer missing a 4-4 ♠ fit especially in MP. Here p will fairly often not be able to checkback. Also may encourage p to bid 2N or 3N knowing ♠ is stopped. As to 2N, that can bypass a ♠ suit as p will almost always be able to check back. Also, it right sides any NT contract which is much more likely after a 2N rebid.
  17. Sure Gib has 3+ in all unbid suits but won't it look silly if East Gib bids 5♦ on 4 cards with 2-3♠? I'd bid 4♠.
  18. Good example. 3N is no fit with major suits well stopped. Gib's minors are nothing to write home about and 3N should be ending the auction, bidding slam is just ridiculous.
  19. Besides simple can still be pretty effective, not maximum but pretty good.
  20. Most people aren't a good judge of other's abilities (a waste of time). If we can't trust a person's rating of self why would we be believe their rating of others?
  21. Why would Gib not bid 3♦ with no 4-card major always? Gib uses Smolen which cant be used over a 3N rebid, so if responder has 5-4 in the majors you may miss a fit. OP made this point but I think it needs to be emphasised as 3N is functionally inferior unless it carried some special meaning which it appears not to. Besides, the system notes (which apparently are out of date) do not give 3N as a possible response.
  22. Think will depend on opener's ♠ holding, think you should let your partner know your really interested in slam. So bid Serious 3N if your playing that.
  23. After a 2/1 should be Penalty especially if your playing 2/1 GF. Otherwise your giving free reign for opponents to overcall in an auction which is clearly yours.
  24. It's not surprising in a weak field 10-12 had good results. Nobody at that level discusses bidding over this. I often play weak NT 12-14 in all position, and have same thing happen. people bid when they shouldn't and pass when they shouldn't. they haven't discussed a style
