  1. Partner has at most 2♠ and probably less. If they couldn't act not much hope four your side. Partner Axxx♦, A♥ sure but unlikely
  2. Where is the opposition? They 17 hcp and 11♦ between them.
  3. What a decision? Partner can have a great pre-empt with even 2♥ and there will be no play for 4♥ on a ♣ lead.
  4. Yes 2♣ being heavy is often unavoidable in SA and 2/1 it doesn't handle 16-18 pt hands very well without some extra conventions like Gazzilli. Gibs final bid 3♣ is silly, in description says 2♠ well GIB has 3♠ so clearly should be bidding 3♠. This probably why your score is so low everyone else is probably in ♠.
  5. Check Lebensohl subroutine. Gib seems to have forgotten how to sign-off.
  6. Exactly playing standard if you passed a 14 pt hand because it had a singleton K people would laugh at you. If 8 is your min then your opening this type of hand for good or bad.
  7. ArtK78, on 2015-May-28, 10:51, said: I have always wondered why anyone would play a 10-12 1NT opening in third seat opposite a passed partner. You seem to be inviting the opponents to double you. At MP I would play 10-12 in 3rd seat NV and trust that your well thought out methods will do better than opponents methods who are often making it up on the fly. Yes you may get bad boards but that's MP. IMPs not worth the risk.
  8. In 4th seat balancing I have one competitive bidding book which uses a cue-bid as any strong 2-suiter. Including, <edit> lower 2 unbid., top & bottom </edit> and Michaels type hands. Theory is with a weaker 2 suiter you could pass or make a simple overcall. Anyone heard of this?
  9. I wouldn't want North Gib to make a negative double with that hand opposite an opening never mind an overcall. It just doesn't have the values 8 tp isn't enough to force to the 3-level. It's ♦ are crap if you don't have awesome ♦ and awesome hand it's a disaster. And again it's counting it's ♠ shortness. Look what happens if Gib passes, you'll balance with a double and now it can bid it's nice ♣ suit 3♣ which will be a much safer spot if your ♦ aren't so good.
  10. A♥ and K♣ only cards that matter. Anyone got a bidding method that can find that out starting at 3-level while stopping at 5♠ without and being able to be bid normal hands too. If they do they should patent it, otherwise take your best guess.
  11. Without any special agreements 4♠ is your only clear super-accept. Besides anything else may wrong side contract. At imps I'll risk p having 0 cause if they have anything will make 4♠ and otherwise could be playing in 3.
  12. I don't know what the ruling should but if their is any justice from the Bridge Gods it goes against NS. To play such a silly 2♠ convention and then not to have discussed if 4N is Blackwood/Keycard etc. is incredible.
  13. K&R evaluated this hand as 11.3 so I wasn't far off. Yes this can cause problems if you have misfit with partner but your way ahead if you do have a fit.
  14. then not close unless your playing 10-12 1N lol
  15. Why is West Gib bidding at all? South's double is takeout if it just shut-ups North will bid 2♠ and a nice part score will ensue.
  16. Yes, if p can bid over 2♠ with K♦ not working they can bid 3N over 3♣ where K♦ is a stopper and stopper in all suits.
  17. Do you play support X in this situation?
  18. 6 hcp plus 3 pts for either distribution or length that's 9. I hate to pass a 6-5 with all the points in the long suits. West definitely didn't field it if you do consider it a psyche.
  19. If the answer is 2N then 4N. That still doesn't answer what is 3N? 14-21 is unworkable and should be changed by programmers.
  20. around here there are partnerships where it would go 2♣-2♦-4N. to each their own.
  21. pretty decent 6N and no possibility of investigating. Not sure what standard for 3N but should be at most a 3 pt range as will often end the auction. 18-19?
  22. what would double have meant?
  23. X seems complicated but I guess you have it worked out :). I would go X=majors, 2N=minors, 3m=1 suiter so my brain wouldn't cramp lol.
  24. Two pages of supplementary notes on a 2 page WBF card is not out of the ordinary. 4 pages for an ACBL card at a club game would be.
