  1. Don't know if your in outside usa so don't care, but response to 1♣ are not GCC compatible.
  2. Why are you upgrading this garbage to 1N? No points in it's long suit only thing going for it is 2 Aces.
  3. not to turn this into a bidding question but... 2♣ is often 5-4 some even 4-4 so our side can have majority of a major suit. Also this may be a prelude to bidding out shape by offering NT or a second suit.
  4. This may seem radical: I think bidding 2♥ is 65 with a big hand. and doubling shows 4♥ at imps extra but at mp not really anything extra but may have if bids again..
  5. when editing FD files you cant specify anything in the agreement category for these. So it defaults to no agreement for pass, X, & XX. FD doesn't show any info if no agreement is in effect even though you've typed in info. I think its a problem with FD itself not the webservice.
  6. As an aside how did S hold 5♠ to -1? Looks to be -2 barring leading clubs at some point by east. and should be doubled at imps at 5-level
  7. Yes ,Zelandakh very good. your in effect using 3♠ for MSS or ♣ which enables you not use 3N which as you say has problems (forgetfulness the big one) Like my puppet Stayman better (probably more that I'm used to it than anything else-looks likes yours handles same hands just different order) and mine handles (31)(54) also
  8. transfers are so common, puppet Stayman iisnt even alertable in north America. Puppet bids are just transfer which don't show a specific meaning yet which are also somewhat common. Nonnatural for more esoteric bidding
  9. I have a question of 2N system. Also use Kokish relays so there are 2 3N rebids current system 3C=puppet Stayman which reveals more than std. --------3D=no 44M, 5S, 4H 3D/3H=transfers 3S=Minor suit Stayman 3N=to play includes 4333 hands (designed for imps) 4C=transfer to D 4D/4H=Texas 4S=transfer to C - this high is what am thinking of changing4N=Quantitative 4N=Quantitative Alternative 1: 3C=Puppet Stayman but use on all hands that would normally bid 3N 3N=Transfer to C Advantages Long club hands are very convenient to bid Ability to sign off in 3N after minor suit stayman Long diamond hands very convenient Disadvantage 3N as conventional is easy to forget Information leakage from extra use of Stayman Possible extra lead directing X from use of Stayman Alternative 2 3S=Puppet to 3N rebids then 4C/4D= long minor , can reverse and have 4C=D and 4D=C 4H/4S=slam try with short major and both minors 4N=both minors, no slam try Advantages can show clubs lower Can use 4C=Gerber Disadvantage cant play in 3N as can with minor suit Stayman with both minors showing both minors higher so lose space Any comments? suggestions open to other ideas
  10. How big is your file? I know there is a limit but have never hit it.
  11. If your going to open that type I hand and I think you should. You have to make the system bid 3♣. Yes your a min hcp but you have nothing to be ashamed of your hand with a ♥ fit. This doesn't mean partner should immediately drag to 6♥. You have lost of room to show controls etc below 4♥ to make an intelligent decision about slam.
  12. Only use splinters in opener's suit after an overcall. Should I have a hand interested in slam, or want to describe my hand and have ♠ support and another singleton bid my side suit which is forcing for me as an unpassed hand. It's pretty unlikely to have a splinter in suit other than ♥ so rather use it naturally. Would play fit jumps before playing side singletons. <edit> I forgot there was a raise, so a new suit wouldn't be forcing
  13. I like 4♦ should have decent chance to make. might not get doubled and opp get only one round of bidding to decide if they want 4♥. Also partner, still might have right hand to bid 4♠ or 5♦. IMHO 3♦ just doesn't get across the length and strength of your ♦ suit.
  14. You don't know you have no wasted values after 3♠. It's not until opps raise to 4♠ that you can upgrade. So while some may double 3♠ it's not clear all our cards are working.
  15. Nice theory, but do you really think you can tell with any certainty that a club lead will save a trick at mp or defeat contract at IMPs when it's your turn to bid?
  16. How bout the biddable ♦? Gib is getting the Ace and that's it no spots and no ruffs with 4333 hand the worst holding.
  17. I don't know if someone BOOT and it's the opener's hand isn't not accepting the bid the bridge equivalent of the death penalty! Should almost always refuse to accept.
  18. Question: If you had doubled instead of bidding 2♠ would that be responsive for GIB? That may explain why Gib thinks u might have think have 3♥ u didn't responsive X
  19. Points are almost irrelevant on this hand. Splinter in ♠ if p doesn't have much wasted in ♠ have good play as long as not off 2 cashing aces. Need to be able to use exclusion KC to findout so wont know for sure playing with GIB.
  20. I commiserate with you. It's hands like this that can end human partnerships. You make valid points about showing preference for hearts but I saw something else I want to comment on. Gibs second pass. Yes, I know it really doesn't have enough to bid 2♥. However, especially in competition, wouldn't it be better to show a small lie right away with trump support then later make a forcing bid 3♠ which isn't even close and is game-forcing?
  21. Wow double of 2♦ in balance shows ♦! How is this possible? and East doesn't have it's bid, I'm shocked.
  22. That's Meckwell. hes on committee so should be ok
  23. hard to make game in 5♣ double has better chance for game
  24. I agree, so what happens if you have a better pre-empt and actually mean 5C so partner can raise intelligently to 6C. You open this hand 5C and partner will never know when to bid 6C
  25. If North could have 20 why does South need 17 to bid 4♥? The point counts are crazy for Gib if u want to enter an auction late. Often coming in shows like 25 pts and you've passed twice with this monster !?
