  1. I'd say no for reasons Steve gave. Also, what is your style for opening 2♦? For many could be really weak then your not even close. For others (like people using the original Precision) a weak 2 is nearly an opener. Even then too risky at imps.
  2. With both east and east not having denied 4♠ leading a ♠ from Qxx does not look enticing. Maybe if east has denied ♠. Even then partner is as likely to have ♣ as ♠. so ♠ lead is very unusual.
  3. Where you gonna play if game try denied? 3.5♠ lol
  4. FYI this should be posted in Gib discussion forum. On bidding and lead declarer is marked with 1♥ and 6 or 7 ♠. So partner has 0 or 1 ♠. So playing anything other than 3♠ helps declarer. East should let declarer guess. Even playing the J on 9 is wrong if East plays small and declare plays Q East gets A & J. Gib uses a set of hands with double dummy analysis to make decisions. with the basic bot it doesn't use enough hands and often gets things wrong. Advanced bot might do better.
  5. Ok, you have passed 1N so you have already denied values for game, then if you think you can make 1N or don't think there is a better spot you should pass. This should be your maximum score. Yes, there will be hands where opener has a nice 14 and you had a bad 11 and didn't invite, or maybe cards are perfect and you have a game.. This is rare and systematically you have decided not to look for game so stick with your decision. Beside on this hand where your barren in 2 suits (and likely most hands) opponent will have a better spot to run to if 1NXX making.. So a redouble for penalty doesn't make much sense as a passed hand. Ok then what should you do? With this hand Pass, 1N might make and no guarantee of a better spot With a 2-suiter bid 4+ card suits till a least a 4-3 fit found. Redouble with a 5+card suit to play in. Opener must bid 2♣ pass or correct/
  6. Well that is the whole problem. On any one hand an unusual lead does not mean your cheating. It takes a pattern that has to be convincing and even then if you don't figure out the code it still could be coincidence.
  7. Well maybe with interest you can cue 3♠ or 4♣. Then partner may be able to cue or use Minorwood. If you don't have a cue slam unlikely
  8. ive seen use of a jump to break a relay with 5-5 two-suiter but it had to be good it had to have a min number of controls (which I can't remember)
  9. While I have heard of someone using this method, it's because they got caught at it. people can come up with much more devious methods to cheat. remember even a small piece of information can make a big difference. you cant guarantee a 20-0 win but if you were doing that all the time your going to get caught
  10. I presume your playing some sort of Precision or forcing club, you don't say. just for example say you have hearts and diamonds you bid 1♥ if partner has balanced hand will bid 1N or 2N you can then bid ♦ if partner has a suit of their own, shouldn't you be bidding naturally until a fit is found and showing ♦ if partner has a fit for hearts hopefully your relay can discover that, but that's up to you to set out
  11. Like Jack said. Also, while hesitations are a problem, you can't tell if the reason for the hesitation was connection problems, the person got a phone call or had to deal with a domestic emergency.
  12. I ve come across opponents who have done. without a suit of my own I have led small from Axx♠ only to fund dummy with 4♠, annoying.
  13. Ok, I';ll give it a stab as to why 4♦ is wrong? Two likely contracts 3N and 6♦, 3N is impossible to get to now, 6♦ partner wont expect you to have such a good hand so will likely miss, even 5♦ may be missed. In second seat one of the opponents have passed so it is a good chance this is your hand. So you may be able to buy it for a cheaper contract like 3♦. It is also possible partner has a major suit of their own and hand belongs in 4M. This wouldn't be a horrible bid in 3rd seat where partner has passed so could be opponents hand.
  14. So, you can use 1N-2♦-2♥-4N as quantitative INV to 6♥/6N with 5♥ balanced because your using Texas for all ace asking
  15. 1♦-2♣ is a special case, it is often undiscussed even by experienced partnerships. 2♣ causes some problems. It raises the bidding as much as possible without preempting For a negative double responder needs both majors unless you agree to double on 4-3 hands Often partnerships have not defined what strength 2♥/2♠ means, It is often a good tactic by responder to raise opener (especially in Acol) when values are questionable or doesn't have an ideal neg X
  16. This is bizarre Gib has 9 hcp say you have a max 17 even outside your range and 18 slam will take a miracle so why make a try?
  17. Once I bid a suit, Gib raised it and opps are in 3N. Leading our suit beats 3N any other lead (like the one Gib chose ) and they make. I'd like to know where that is in Bird and Anthias' book?
  18. like they said, bots just don't make the same lead any sane human would lead. even if partner has bid a suit it might not be lead!
  19. you want one bid to show defense - maybe redouble one bid to show no defense 5♥ pass - can just be an average preempt good to try science but this is a goulash hand so good luck
  20. Gib plays Lebensohl over doubles of weak 2's so there is no hand Gib can have which wouldn't of made an encouraging move earlier. Make slam tries below game come on. I think this is a case of Gib Math you bid 4H even though I could have 0 so u have a monster, I have something so i'm gonna make a slam try.
  21. Ive had something very similar to me and the TD adj board to AVG+/AVG=. there were no undos in this tournament.
  22. No way to make 7. Average player should make 6. so 6
  23. If 3♠ is forcing Gib thinks you have a bigger hand than you do. I pass.
  24. I remember an earlier example but don't know when but within last 3 months. should be simple math p shows 4+♣4+♦ you have 4♦ 0♣ you play in ♦
