  1. Either Gib hates you or there is something wrong in it's programming where it requires a certain pt strength or suit quality to return to the 8-card fit. B-)
  2. 4 pages is a bit much unless for playing in a high-level tournament. If you can remember it fine, but I play with people who forget the basic conventions on the cc. I have one partner where Keycard ask is a random number generator lol (so I've stopped asking)
  3. If Gib had it's bid you might have a chance. promised 2+♠ has only 1. promised 9-11 hcp has 6 hcp.. promised 10-12 total points has 9 so close but Gib is counting 2 points for singleton in partner's ♠ suit so that doesn't hold up. PROGRAMMERS: don't count points for shortness in partner's suit when no fit has been found.
  4. As of May 1, 2015 in ACBLland under the GCC you could overcall 1N with 2♦ showing a 1 suited hand with a major. If you were playing Cappelletti you would then use 2♣ to show both majors and bid 3♣/3♦ with a minor 1-suiter. 2♥/2♠ remains a 2-suiter with a side minor. I was wondering if people were making the switch. Also possible is to use double as a minor-major 2-suiter with a longer minor (Woolsey).
  5. So, does this support keeping basically the same system or changing you system completely over a nebulous Precision 1♦?
  6. Personally I'd ask just in case, you cant count on director to protect you so many things could happen where it ends up with no redress. But take a slightly different situation. Say p opens a 1N and opponent doubles with no alert. If this is a penalty type double you play a system which is primarily runout. If the double is artificial you play regular system, plus redouble says your interested in a penalty. Here you have to ask. Even if they have a cc, maybe your playing weak NT and often people only have cc filled for strong and have not written down what they do over weak. You have to be absolutely sure here as almost all your bids will have completely different meaning depending on the answer.
  7. For me double of 4♥ is still takeout so I would double. I would raise 4♠ and 5♦ to 6 and bid 5♠ over 5♣. If 4♥ penaltyish. Then hopefully you have 4N as takeout and would do the same thing as after a double. Bidding at this level is a guess whatever you do could be right or wrong.
  8. Red vs White 3N seems clear at any form of scoring.
  9. not sure what I bid but don't like my hand. a void in p ♥'s my outside pts KQ♣ is worth 1 trick. May not even be able to get into p hand to cash any of their ♥ tricks. Definitely not bidding 4♠. Doubling and whatever I bid I think will be an overbid. Of course I didn't know the KQ♣ was going to be downgraded.
  10. Why is any value at all given for shortness especially in partner's suit until a fit has been found? This could end up in NT.
  11. I like explanation of W Gib's 4♥: 6+♥ 13+ total points. If it had that hand it might have a chance of making. And all of E Gib's bids doesn't show any extra values either? weird.
  12. My inclination would be to rise Ace as I think unlikey to lead from KJT but I may be wrong. With so many trump the drop isn't horrible which makes this a close call, the finessers can easily lose to offside singleton K. So, if you need a swing this is certainly a good proposition to try the queen.
  13. Even with a more suitable hand saving at the 6 level is a losing proposition. You may have already won the auction ie 5♠ is -1 or field bidding 6 and partner pre-empted them out of it. 6♦X even if a good save is going to lose to anyone in 5♦X. Worse of all you push them into a making 6 gack. Plus all the reasons others gave..
  14. Both look like shortness leads. had it backwards so I would try leading A♥ and assuming edit west slightly better odds to have longer ♥. With no info or if you don't think lead shows anything it's a coin toss.
  15. The following doubles must be alerted: (a) A double of an opening natural 1NT which may have less than the normally accepted strength for a penalty double (i.e. 15 HCP or compensating distribution) Blue book doesn't give strength of 1N. What if opponents are using 9-11 or 10-12? I doubt many people would require 15 hcp to double.
  16. What's funny is I don't think you can legitimately get the robot to bid 6♠ and you have ♦ losers and the robot refuses to bid second round controls so you can't bid 6♠ except as a gamble. However, if you splinter with 4♣ the robot will take over and put you in the inferior 6♥. Inferior because its an 8-card fit not 10-card and fittingly an opening ♠ lead provides a ruff. (but this unlikely to happen)
  17. Cheating in the main room why? I'm not questioning that it happens I just don't see the point.
  18. Goodness I think this is allowable under GCC. Not their knockout structure of course.
  19. The weekly tournament reset-ie cleared results but the same hands reloaded. i remembered them fairly well. Bd 7 I will never forget and it was 100% sure the same.
  20. Precision 1♦ has diamonds too often to be worth doing much special. maybe your takeouts don't promise or deny clubs. If doesn't have diamonds is balanced or has clubs.
  21. Gib is showing total points in it's 4N invite. Is it really counting it's doubleton for a NT slam?
  22. Why is Gib counting it's ♠ singleton to justify a slam try?
  23. Looking more closely at Big Bang using weak or mini-NT NV so they would have more difficulty with interference differentiating between 15-17 & 18-19 than in Transfer Walsh where your differentiating between 12-14/11-13 and 18-19/17-19 which is easiear. So they probably need Mexican to solve problems in their system.. Anyways as penance one of my local regular partners plays Mexican so we're going to give a try on BBO and locally. Big shoes to full, unlike chase I get good results from weak 2♦ lol.
