  1. the bfedit icon is no longer next to date uploaded. so i dont think you can download the public system. Any suggestions?
  2. I was wondering if any one had any ideas for responding with 1♠ and 1-4-4-4 distribution with 12-14 hcp and bidding goes 1♦-1♠ your bid. your 1NT range is 12-14 hcp, and your 1N rebid range is 15-17 hcp. does anyone want to open 1♣ or 1N? sorry no specific hand, just a general situation
  3. Crowhurst, Eric: Precision Bidding in Acol in Book has a system they call Modified Baron, but is a form of puppet Stayman where 4♣(can have ♦)/4♦ are slam tries looking for 4-4 minor fit
  4. One method suggested to me to avoid having to alert 2♣ as "may not have 4M" is to use Pass or Blast. With balanced 9 hcp hands just jump to 3N. no invite given. With balanced 8 hcp hands just pass 1N. You can upgrade hand with decent 5-card suits, or good location of high cards. Thus you don't require Stayman to do bal INV with no 4M
  5. Yes, SUP X work best here. Partner can bid 1N with 4♥ then bid 2♣ if no more interference
  6. yes, this is difficult bidding problem (not lol) 1n-2♥-2♠-3♥-4♠ 3♥ should be 5+♥ as with only 4 would use Stayman edit i checked the GIB notes and it supposed to use 1N-2♦-2♥-2♠ for 5-5 INV
  7. yes, would open 1♠ would have directly raised(superaccept) to 3♠ hoping partner can bid 4♠
  8. not thrilled with Bergen over X for some of the reasons already mentioned but when I play it 2N is a 3 card Limit+ raise Bergen does have one advantage not mentioned, it's high probabilty
  9. reaching a good slam here when right and stopping in 5♣ is a pipedream when not. needs A♣(reasonable to assume this card), singleton ♠ or K♠ and Q♥ reasonable to jump to 5♣, 6♣ is low chance
  10. wow even 4♠ is down 2 X 500 with no effort 4♥ must have been a blood bath
  11. easy 13 top tricks- numerous was to accomplish
  12. id give a 3♦ partner was willing to hear it so i'll say it
  13. yes noticed 19, but you got no fit yet, with a spade fit easily having 2 losers, the minors having slow losers unless opener has semi-solid ♦ or can raise ♣(that would geet me excited) or has J♣ I think in ♠ your gonna need AK♠ for good chance. I guess with your controls can be safe at 5 level, so 4♥ or 4N keycard immidietely or delayed would be ok to find out
  14. i would bid 2♠ only way to find 4-4 ♠ fit, but would rebid 3N over a raise. The problem comes if partner doesnt raise. If he bids 2N raise to 3N. Over 3♦ i'm gonna bid 3♥ to show stoppers, so opener can bid 3N. Hopefully he has a ♠ stopper. Im not convinced though, can easily be in 3N with 4♠ losers without 9 winners
  15. if its 68% for 7♥/7N and 96% for 7♦ then at imps its no contest i pick 7♦ since this is a novice beginner forum, i would assume at mp field isn't bidding grand, so would still bid safer 7♦
  16. If the suit wasnt good enough to open 1♥ why would you suddenly want to upgrade it and bid 3♥ bid standard response 2♥. if partner has 4 he will be pleasantly surprised :o
  17. 1N as semi-forcing i think 2♣ crucial as rev drury. would have 2♦ natural, so no differentiation between 3/4 card support 2♥(over 1♠) natural 3♣ as a natural invite all other bids above 2M should be some sort of very strong raise(else why go so high) i like mini-splinters with 2N being ♣ shortage as using 3♣ natural
  18. We play systems on over 2♣ so: 3♣ (transfer to ♦ or 2N if that is your transfer) 3♦ 3♥ empty doubleton or slam try with 0-1 ♥ now opener can judge to play in 3N or 5♦ with a real mess endup in 4♦ maybe with AKxx of ♠ bids 3♠ and find 4-3 4♠
  19. people are free to use the space for more general comments. lots do. there is also a spot on the profile for your favourite convention card which almost no one uses. perhaps that could be replaced by a checklist of conventions used
  20. Double = takeout i think responders hand to weak for 1N. your too strong to pass 2♥ for same reasons your too strong not to balance on previous auction but even more so as partner has shown some vales(which they don't have) I'd double 2♥ hopefully for takeout, i presume this is a forcing NT due to *
  21. 2♥ - promise 1 more ♦ 2N - promise 1 more ♠ 3♣ - promise 1 more ♦ all have there flaws. i pick 2N as partner will only insist on ♠ with 6, a 6-1 4♠ wont be horrible. the real problem comes if partner goes slamming. this is a very low percent problem choose your rebid and accept the problem. if your that concerned play a roman type 2♦ or a multi 2♦ with strong 4441's worked in
  22. Double. sure would prefer a ♦ honor and less in ♣ but life isnt perfect. you have a wonderful hand with 3+ support for both minors, compete. If partner leaves X in you will not be unhappy
  23. seems to me doubling is a ticket to playing in a poor 4-3 fit at the 3-level vul. If partner can come in i will be happy to support him. otherwise, i'll take defending.
  24. 3N i stuck my neck out vul with 2♦ overcall as i thought they were signing off in 2♣ GIB double dummy analysis says ♦ lead only thing which will set 3N. computer on lead with Jxx♦ lead t♠ from T9x instead. surely simulations(the way computer picks leads) would pick a ♦ lead assuming ive got 5+♦, but no i think there should be some sort of prority programmed to leading partners suit especially at NT turns out declarer misplays & go down 1
