if you play a 3N response to a 2N ask as solid ♥ then i'll open 2♥. without it i'll open 1♥
-
agree with this completely
-
I don't think d e & f are allowed under ACBL GCC reasoning if 2♥/2♠ is not allowed as a preempt if it shows a 4 card minor (Midchart) I think a 2♣ preempt which probably has a 4 card major is not allowed and taking on a strong hand 7 solid ♣ makes it even less likely to b GCC legal
-
I Like 1♦ 1♥ 2N 3♣ natural 3♥(3H) 4♣ cue 4♦ cue 4♠ cue 6♥
-
Its my understanding that under ACBL GCC conventional meanings may be given to redoubles and responses (including free bids) so you can use 1♦=♥ and 1♥=♠ etc. as these are free bids
-
partner has doubled for takeout twice. you have perfect responding hand so do what partner wants 4♠
-
i'm sure ive seen system of transfers over takeout double of 1N here. Ive tried searching but u cant search on 1D(too small) so didn't have any luck transfers over 1♣ double make a lot of sense and is easy to come up with a system that is nice 1♦ double a little more difficult. I think your gonna lose natural redouble. Anyone got a method? if it makes a difference 1♦ is unbalanced

in 4D not 3N bidding goes 1C-P-1D-1N(sandwich)-2D-2H(showing H stopper) -P-3C (club stopper) then instead of bidding 3S or 3N with spade stop bids 3H with K empty why doesn't it bid 3N? has KQx of spades
-
My link follow the play on this I take a deep ♠ finesse losing, when next in I play A♠ king drop ok I play another round and the robot who dropped king plays a small spade. wow a free overtrick
-
mostly doing for acbl tournaments in the last round and definetly the table im trying to get to is still open (and open for kibitzers)
-
When I attempt to join a tournament table to kibitz it says error could not join table I sign up as a substitute a lot and I think that's the problem. but it occurs even when I haven't signed up recently or for another tournament which I have not signed up as a substitute. also occurs when I remove my name from the substitute list or when subbing and the player returns also occurs when I haven't signed up as a sub in my current session

In Lawrence style 2/1 reverse promises extra values, but that's just 14+ pts not what would commonly be called reversing values. Even ACOL clear reverse, you have a singleton with 3♣ so your hand really worth 16-17 pts and want to GF and partner can easily have 5♣4♠ 11+ pts so ♠ suit in play
-
another question why not bid 2N instead of 2♥ to show stops in both majors? KQx is great stopper, it's hard to get to 3N if you didn't have A♠. but responder can still show 4♥ by bidding 3♥ over 2N. not sure if 2♣ denied a major or not? the explanation of 2♠ 4+♣ 3-♥ 3-♠ so I think responder has denied 4♠ with 2♣ and GIB knows its I a 3-2 fit. bid also explained as 10+ perhaps GIB thinks responder has 10 pts so doesn't want to get too high
-
I believer in Lawrence's CD a "reverse" to 2♠ promises extra values (14+ pts.) not reversing values and with less you rebid 2♥ which doesn't promise 6 cards may just be a minimum opening. or of course 2♦ with 4-5-4-0
-
Think 3♥ instead of 5♣ fourth suit forcing(if this convention valid after a 2/1) or show some semblance of a stopper problem with 5♣ besides the obvious that you don't have a singleton, it commits partnership to a higher level without any extra values to make 5♦ 3♥ keeps open the possibility of 3N or 4♠
-
yes that could be a problem, so you should see own alerts but not partners
-
FD does it too good. If you can consult notes playing speedball good luck, your going to have unfinished boards, if not a time penalty. But FD automates the notes, so its no more than a mouse click to find out what a potential bids means. It also tells you what your partner's bids mean. This is an unfair advantage!
-
Yes, its a Godsend, its also a violation! You are not allowed to consult your convention card to see what your playing and that is what FD facilitates! It even allows you to see complicated 2nd or 3rd round or even deeper sequences meaning! Also a violation, this is consulting notes which is not allowed in tournaments.
-
well they have said they arn't going to make any changes to the software, so forever youll be able to see partners alert
-
I've used FD and it has its usefulness but .. the bidding explanation is given to the bidder's partner. this to me is against the rules. its like for every bid you send a message to partner what your bid means. Do you know how quickly the director would be called if I broadcast my bids meaning in a message to the table so my partner could hear it? FD should be banned in tournaments.

bizarro checkback sequence after 18-19 2nt rebid
steve2005 replied to Stephen Tu's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
GIB on cheap drugs. 3N is the spot to play, slam is out of question. -
the whole convention card not being filled out is a problem a lot of people filling out the generic card are really bad. the don't put jacoby transfers or 2N, iv minors, or what 1N - 3C/3D/3H/3S is the put convention in the other convention box rather than the proper spot. also pickup partners usually don't fill out a card so have syac by default as their card when their really playing 2/1

Uses for 1NT - 3[hearts] or[spades]
steve2005 replied to eagles123's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
3♥/3♠ as slamish hand in major is underrated and simple. What do you do if your 5332 and interested in slam if partner has a fit? If you transfer and bid a new suit partner will take you for a more distributional hand. -
Big Two Suited Hands
steve2005 replied to 32519's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Most strong 2 suiters can be opened at 1-level with all that distribution unlikely to be passed out. If you have a game force hand (4 losers with nice intermediates) then open 2♣. Is most convenient if your longest suit is a major then can go: 2♣-2♦ (waiting or negative)- 2♥-2♠(second negative)- 3♣ (GF 2 suiter) most systems can accommodate something like this. The exception is using 2♥ response for a bust, then heart 2 suiters are impossible to show. -
Obviously 2♥ is a strong 2. cause that's what an 11 pt hand needs to make a slam try. lol 5♥ ridiculous 3♥ is quite sufficient. GIB does like to bid 5M.
