Yes it is very hard to keep the CECO principle alive but I will continue to try and propagate it. Not claiming IMV is equivalent to pulling the wings off of flies when whoever was a child. I sometimes wonder if people feel the need to physically click on each card to feel like they took it. Perhaps that is why when I am last to play on trick 13 I will claim by conceding the trick after declarer plays his side's last card, that way declarer needs one more klik to get to the next hand.

The real problem with 4♦ is that you can't find out any additional relevant information because you have any card partner could Qbid. 5♦ is okay but will it tell partner the Q♥ is gold? And will you be able to find out about the trump Q? Instead of 4♦ maybe a 2♥ call will allow for a more informative auction. If opps go crazy your next call will have to be x#♠ but this will surely be equivalently informative as a 4♦ call at this stage.

Has anyone experienced being substituted into a teamgame not as an actual sub but to fill a seat from the actual start and had to wait for the table to fill up? BBO needs to do a separate volunteer for a team game along similar lines as the volunteer to sub in any tournament.

Actually I am surprised you think it is not. Vul vs not at IMPS do you regularly risk going down 3 or 4 with your preempts? IMO any of pass, 3NT, or 4♠ could be right. I would guess 3NT, 4♠, and pass in that order.

to wit: K&R (AKT432 T9 QT2 T9) = 12.95 but I am still not opening 1♠ just like I am not opening the other hand 1♥. K&R, like LTC, or LOTT is just a guide. My gut tells me the hand, if I choose to open it, will cause me more problems than if I respond with it.
