  1. and with such wonderful ♥ spots declarer is going to be looking to set this suit up as a source of tricks....after drawing trump. So you have my vote.
  2. Well I think you are too weak systemically for 2NT and 3NT afterall that just promises a bunch of ♣ tricks plus some minor outside stuff oh wait that is what we have! We are probably stuck with either 3♣ or 3♠ over partner's 1♠ response however. :)
  3. my bidding plan is to lead the ♦A EDIT: oops missed my RHO's original pass Looks like choices are 5♥, 6♦,6♠, 6NT. I will just guess that 6NT is right since it is MPs
  4. seems reasonable but not if ♠void ♥Axxxxx ♦AKJx ♣Kxx is a 1♣ opener
  5. oh so you would rather reverse with 3♣ or even better bid 2♣ over 1NT?
  6. If I can't open it a strong 2♣ or equivalent then 6♦
  7. With the normal meta-agreement in place "no preempting over a preempt" essentially south is screwed.
  8. Yes 2♣ is fine. Now I am torn cause I don't know the opps agreement on 1♦ opening call and Partner's call could be natural In any event the possible calls look like 3♠, 4♣, 4♦, 4♠, 5♣, and 5♦. At this point since I am in an uncertain position I make the call with the most flexibility, 3♠.
  9. yep and the 55 hand usually plays better in a suit anyway even if it is a 5-2 fit(IMO)
  10. Normally would prefer to try 3NT but if the auction is believable I won't have time to develop any side suit tricks so I will need 9 off the top and odds are long on that so I would try X for a try at 4♥
  11. Generally agree with the first paragraph. Not sure I follow the argument for the second paragraph about being specifically 5-4 as IMO the chance of game has to exist at a higher level with 5-5 and you need it high as possible at these colors.
  12. It seems strange to me but a) looks correct as restricted choice acts in an abnormal manner. By that I mean that holding KJ, KT, or JT a sharp RHO could have won the first trick with either card in any of those holdings thereby increasing the probability of LHO hold KJ76, KT76, or JT76. If this is wrong I am sure someone will step right up and say "Pooltuna has been eating the algae bloom again and is hallucinating."
  13. He didn't say squat which is my real complaint and probably where you got MPs
  14. nah, show imigration your green card :)
  15. I think with the cards in hand 3NT is slightly anti%age and 1NT is a clear pass NV at IMPS. If the J♣ became the J♦ then an invite would be justified especially V at IMPS
  16. I pay a visit to Lloyd's of London before calling 6♦ :)
  17. BTW didn't mention it earlier but 7♠ was a good sacrifice
  18. maybe 75%N is not enough but 100%N is probably too much even tho he severely undervalued his 6 controls
  19. Hopefully partner will have played the T♣ to signal holding the 9 but I am ready to win declarer's 7♣ with my A
  20. no quibbles with either pass or 3NT at these colors. It would be tougher to pass if you were V ss the reward pard of the risk/reward equation went up.
  21. Solve your problems a round earlier albeit with greater risk...Don't bid F1NT bid 2♥. Yes I realize it is a GF but at least you have 2 five card suits for a source of tricks and 2 aces. All of that makes 4♥, 3NT, or 4♠ a highly probable viable game.
  22. This is an automatic 6♣ call! I mean you are playing MPs and 3NT is taking a bunch of tricks so you have to bid slam to compensate. [/sardonicism]
