  1. 4a- gotta to come in with 1NT- you leave too much space for opponents.
  2. If you "cheated" by private messaging all of your hands to a Minibridge tablemaster, you could play Minibridge without any modfication except that the bidding would be have to be compelled. GIB couldn't do that but someone could do the bidding for GIBs. In deed it would be better than Minibridge as the HCP of each hand would still unknown but roughly guessable. The teaching tables allow you to do almost the same thing easier I think.
  3. Maybe it should mean something about spades, afterall 2♥ would logically mean exactly the same.
  4. Actually they doubled in both hands In open room the bidding went 1NT,-,-,2♥,-,3NT,X South has 6 club tricks solid and assumes North has 3 Aces or Ace and AK in one suit- that would be the only way it makes- of course North has nothing like that- not one ace. Not playing on the same page there! In closed room, the bidding went 1C,-,1NT,-,2NT,-,3NT,X and the 1C has 15 HCP and his partner 6HCP- are they playing with the same convention card? Yet the rest of the hands are normal and sometimes good- nothing too terrible so it cant be that they are bad bidders.
  5. I tried this and it doesn't work- I get a blank tableau. My lin doesn't look anything like yours- no % (vertical lines instead) and no http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=pn in the original file.

  7. I agree with 4NT, Partner could have something mediocre like ♠xx ♥KJx ♦AKxx ♣xxxx I'd imagine the 2♥ bidder has something like so the minor is difficult to bid ♥xxxxxx ♦xxx ♣AKQJx
  8. Could we have a short locked thread covering posting hands? Just tried to post a vugraph link and found it very awkward. The Hand Editor is awkward but that's a different issue.

  10. Without aces, its better to just bid 2D, after the diamond raise, bid 3S as you can't have enough top tricks to make 3NT unless partner has a double cover in hearts and something in diamonds hopefully J10x so easy raise to 5D. You have to think how game is makeable.
  11. 4 ♠ makes with slight different hands. Give North the Kx ♣ and South the AQJ8♦ and assuming West leads to AK♥, then South can guess to drop the K♦ otherwise West doesn't have nominal opening hand.
  12. Love the crap descriptions- 4S cannot possibly have 3 TP with 7 spades given the way GIB calculates TP (I'd say at least 6 TP {3 for length of spades and 3 for shortness} ) and no HCP description. If GIB really has no HCP count for 4S how can it simulate the play- there is a lot of choices with only 7 spades in South as the information - the leads should have been much more varying. That description like many others is just plain lazy.
  13. Equally the diamond play is hopeless, it relies on opponents not being able lead hearts twice e.g West holding AK and one heart - very unlikely. The clubs play is much better chance whether you choose to finesse or drop. Playing diamonds will eliminate your entries so the drop play is no longer an option. Typical GIB awful play.
  14. Partner's opening of 1♣ was pretty marginal to say the best but he did give you reasonable warning with only a raise to 2♥.
  15. You could even run the J♣ straight off and see if North pops up with the Q- of course ruffing anyway, then ruff a diamond, cash a spade round and cash a couple more clubs.
  16. 1♥ was pretty marginal itself- awful 5422 shape with only queens outside the trump suit, an alternative is 2♥ for vul against not.
  17. When GIB simulates the cards for each play, does it simulate every single card or just the suit involved?
  18. Could we have a (closed) pinned thread of everything considered and for whatever reason not accepted?
  19. It seems noone has mentioned your real problem. The 1NT is too strong to open 15-17- its worth 18 with the good 5 card hearts suit and other good qualities.
  20. I would have thought better to upgrade finessing strength than control strength- control strength sure helps with running a partner's suit but finessing AQ, Kx, AQJ gives those extra chances especially on the lead.
  21. Indeed, why can't 4NT be for such a hand- blackwood for minors makes no sense- good top clubs incl. ace and double cover on spades. If opener has only a singleton spade and is missing an ace then 5C can escaped to.
  22. The contract based on the bidding up to that point suggests that partner has a good hand but not fantastic with good clubs but not a solid run of clubs and unlikely to have one and a quarter or more covers in spades Axx or better . Crap clubs and he should have bid 3NT which would fine to pass- you need to hope for AK of diamonds and a couple of hearts. Going for 3NT hopes for king onside insufficiently defended and spades even 4-4 break.
  23. It doesn't matter what South plays. East is discouraging anyway assuming standard play.
  24. Why would either robot type simulate that East would false card with KJ of diamonds?
