  1. You can make 6♠ by end-gaming West, ruff out the clubs, take out the spades, cash the diamonds, place A of ♥ and low heart but its a poor slam. If you could bid a reverse then 4♠, then it would show your hand better if GIB could understand that bidding.
  2. On 2, Probably should have doubled and rebid 2 or 3 NT but given the explanation of 2NT invitational to 3NT, 3NT is a clear bid. On 3, shows GIB poor understanding of Total Points, South has 19 TP, GIB's clubs are worthless so only 6 working HCP which is worth about 9 TP- not worth going on. Why does GIB use TP if it doesn't understand what total points mean? Numbers are worthless without context.
  3. The bots weren't reliable in this case so trusting humans is not relevant. No the solution is do what a human would do and make the reasonable bid- preempts work. Don't require 5 card major to jump to game- that's the risk of doubling that you might end in a Moyesian fit game. Sometimes choose 4 clubs or 3NT even with 4-3 majors.
  4. Of course 3NT doesn't make either- isolation of dummy and repeated heart leads kill it. Why doesn't GIB bid 3♦ instead of 3♣? Is 2NT forcing to games?
  5. It makes no sense to consider them differently. If you had 18-19 on the second hand, then you'd redouble spades and obviously North doesn't consider South to have that 18-19 in its memory as North-South must have far more than game values and either 3NT or simple double of 2♥ is the correct bid not expecting the opponents to keep ratcheting up their poor hand especially as E-W should also believe N-S have game values. It must be a rubbish description.

  7. Could link to the hand in My Hands? http://www.bridgebase.com/myhands/index.php
  8. My thoughts on what West holds ♠KQJx ♥Kxx ♦xxx ♣J109 which would make the contract hopeless Hope for ♠KQJx ♥Kxx ♦xxxx ♣J10 Can't imagine West holding any less HCP otherwise its so unlikely East didn't into the bidding holding more than 5HCP and 6 spades.
  9. Indeed Why can't your partner hold ♠KQJxxx ♥ ♦KQ ♣xxxxx even if a Michael's cue was available then he would something rather incredible from partner to make anything other than a spade's contract so he doesn't use it. 4 ♥ is easy even with four card balanced opening.
  10. West probably can't simulate that East has such a decent opening hand Give East ♠x ♥ AKJx ♦KQJxx ♣xxx and now 4♠ by North-South isn't so bad and possibly makes.
  11. Why did South pass 2NT even if it is natural/impossible when clearly 3♠ is his bid, is South's 1 NT normally 12-14 or 15-17 afterall West may be gambling a bit.
  12. Anyway 4♥ only just makes anyway as West should lead a low heart and win the A♦ and lead the A♥ and another heart, then you lose 3♦ and a heart, it weren't the incredibly lucky fact that N-S have those three top honours so with the hand as given you still make it because of the the lucky fact that West has one club. Really 4♥ making is lucky rather than likely.
  13. How about 2♦, hopefully with a holding of only 3♦ partner will temporise with 2♥ or if holding 5♣ will bid 3♣, then you can easily bid 4♥ which could hardly be a cue with the former or 3NT with the later.
  14. Why not if the simulation says it should get 12 tricks then bid small slam, if GIB gets 13 tricks bid the grand slam- how difficult is that?
  15. Can't North bid 2♥ as game force and then over 2♠ bid 3 ♣ or 4 ♣ to set trumps?
  16. Can you access GIB's simulations or does it delete them all as quickly as it creates them? For that lead to be right, East would need to have some incredible hand such as Axx and say two other aces or winners and N-S 2-2 in clubs.
  17. This is not a misuse of total points error- this is an incomplete bidding table error whereby there is no other bid than 4♠ over a preempt. Its clearly a 7♠ bid. By the GIB's total points= HCP+length+shortness It also uses HCP. Its favourite is total points and also uses HCP.
  18. GIB (North): I told you that I had a hand for doubling the majors but you said your hand was poor so I didn't worry about doubling them again.
  19. I've commented that the system notes are grossly indequate but they are too lazy to fill in as much as is possible.
  20. Just luck you are playing against a GIB which doesn't choose the obviously spade switch. Beats me why it didn't start with spades.
  21. That last post needs a little edit. http://www.pattayabridge.com/BridgeJokes_main.htm
  22. First link was fine- all you need. GIB probably thinks there's only 40 pts Total points in a Hand by really its a big range from 40-136 so in given hand it assumes you must have a diamond cover with your 16 TP. How on Earth does GIB do simulations using Total Points as guide?
  23. Could you post a link to the hand in Myhands please?
  24. The first one is clearly human has to correct back to 2♠ and hopeful GIB gives a decent bid then. The second one is clearly what part of forcing 1NT don't you understand GIB.
  25. I wonder will it let you bid X then 3NT which actually the contract that makes if they lead a diamond.
