Because he thinks the overcall is minimum and 6 card and therefore 2♦X will make and GIB will leave in the double even with that minimum.

You are in the grand slam (which one?). Aren't you cashing a few outside winners to give you some guidance on the play?

Bidding after making a negative double
cloa513 replied to Bbradley62's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
If you count 9 HCP +1 length spades +1 then its 11 TP. It might even be considered to be worth that much as evaluated by a human with the double fit. Why can't GIB deceive it opponents to get to a safe contract, its no danger to partner as partner has denied diamonds. Why didn't any human bid 2♠, 4-3 fit at least isn't bad. -
The explanation except for the silly rebiddable spades matches the hand, 12HCP+2 (trump length)+3(shortness)=16+ TCP. You just overvalued that Diamonds K109x. With a human it worth a raise to 5♠, no idea what to do with a GIB.
-
Surely the second auction must show an overcall hand stronger than the first.
-
What if you double the 1H which quite sensible except for the crap spades (assuming it takes it as Takeout)?
-
On #3 a low spades might find partner with Q♠ and dummy with K♠ misguesses where the ace is. Its got to be about trump reduction and East has an entry to remove trumps. On #6, the hand could be something high value like ♠Qx ♥Qxx ♦Qx ♣KQJxxx and still have no chance in 6NT.
-
When GIB spurns both 1NT and 2NT, you have think you're playing with a 30pt working HCP pack.
-
North has to rebid 1NT and then its an easy raise to 3NT.
-
Of course you'd expect to be in 6C especially with that mediocre spades sequence- expect nothing terrible in the breaks.
-
why bidding 6nt forces? "Bot" to bid 7
cloa513 replied to iplaybridg's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Is there a date for these hands? Perhaps a myhands link would be better. -
3♥ with such a sequence should require more than 6-7 TP- that's a pass.
-
Even if South didn't have such a powerful hand, Give him ♠Kxx ♥xxx ♦AKQ ♣xxxx or ♠xxx ♥Kxx ♦AQJ ♣xxxx which is probably too weak to double even by GIB. And game is a reasonable chance.
-
You mean 12 TP- which is of course inconsistant with other evaluations.
-
The descriptions could be direct translated memory dump from the GIB memory register (this is what I think you have and this is what I have limited by the bid)- then it wouldn't matter so much that GIB's thought processes were strange but obviously the descriptions are totally written by the programmers with no reference to actual thinking by GIB.

http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/35879-when-reporting-gibs-bugs/ Read my post and post your hand By the way if it forcing it should say that when you mouse over the 3C bid. If true, typical crap GIB bid.
-
It could have expected the lead to be from a singleton.
-
I don't think the return matters the contract is hopeless anyway but return a heart. South never expected to be in 4♥. He has a mediocre 16HCP afterall he passed 2♠ and expected more from partner's 3♣ maybe 5-7HCP- certainly not 4

splinter or bid game, or something else?
cloa513 replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I'd say even 3♦ has no chance. East has ♣AKQxx ♦x ♥Axxx ♠xxx which is an awkward hand to have when someone opens clubs. North has ♠KJ ♥KQJ (x) ♦KJx (x) ♣xxxx Of course East has a shoddy quality Michael's hand Just bid 3♦ not because it makes but because it makes it even more awkward for opponents to choose what to bid. -
Doubling then bidding; how should this auction go?
cloa513 replied to fuburules3's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
How about a low spade return after the heart lead, then W can discard a heart and 3 spades on the run of clubs. Dummy is kept isolated by the A♠. Then no matter how you play it- you lose a diamond, 3 hearts and a Ace of spades. -
The topic is just about the bare minimum correct use of technical words and reasonable use of other words to express yourself correctly in a certain context whether it be Bridge or mechanical engineering.
-
Agreed absolutely awful- not even close to matching the description. No human would ever bid that.

Doubling then bidding; how should this auction go?
cloa513 replied to fuburules3's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
I'd say instead of the second double, how about a 2NT most likely partner has one spade cover hopefully GIB will take you to 3NT. You are actually in trouble if you let North bid 3NT from heart finesses- hard to tell how GIB will actually play but best play takes you down. -
Fair tourneys for Jack and below
cloa513 replied to Lovely007's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Wrong forum- you want Tournament forum or General. This is for GIB issues. -
This link is dead. http://forums.bridge...?showtopic=5167 Could we have something about how to post a hand from any source on the webforum?
