  1. I was offering 2NT as natural. Double 2♥ probably says you have a simple hearts raise. Why not 2♠ as second best alternative.
  2. It was probably desparately simulating that the auction would end with South doubling 1♥ and taking 1 heart down 2 for a win. Anyway GIB should bid 3♦ over 2♣
  3. If partner is a lunatic then you have no chance- he has four little spades and maybe a doubleton. If he was sensible He has ♠Axxx ♥x afterall you put in 2♦ Michael's which is just asking for nonvul opponents to preempt to game.
  4. That merely shows how stupid the gambling 3NT is if you actually want to make a contract rather than preempt opponents and vulnerable against not is definitely one of those cases. East should have just bid 1♦ especially since 4H might be a make.
  5. North's response is pathetic, it should bid 3C or 2NT- its vul against not. Give South a singleton spades and N-S can make 6C. Its a very desperate sacrifice by E-W but not too terrible given North's pass.
  6. Unless the hand is has strength focused on two suits- with length especially in clubs 6+ and spades and you could make game with a whole lot less so the total points is much greater than 16 HCP.
  7. Let alone why it even bids 1♥ without even 3 hearts to support the suit. Why not 1NT or 2NT (though I don't think 2NT would play well on a minimum double)? Of course you'd bid 3♠ or 2♦ depending on the rollover choices and GIB should force back to 3NT. Also love the way it doesn't lead partner's suit which is the only way to keep you to making game just.
  8. Which statistical methods and to whom?
  9. The question whether GIB picked to respond with 3 card but rather whether it had a better bid- clearly hearts.
  10. What do you do with the takeout type hand 4144 or 5143? Or this rather semitakeout hand.
  11. 1 ♠ should be intermediate two suit hand which is OK to play in 4-3 spades, this hand is too strong better to use X.
  12. [hv=pc=n&s=sakjhakqdj6ca7654&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=2c(ACOL%202C)2dpp]133|200[/hv] Saw it on the Mind Games. Bidding didn't go like that. I figure the standard bid is Double. What do you think? Expect unexciting handling of interference (most bidding was pedestrian) so X by responder is positive 8+HCP or without 5 card semipositive (5-7) and other bids are semipositive with 5 card suit(5-7).
  13. Its probably the definition of 1♣,(),-,(),1♠ or 1NT (is that stronger than 17HCP) that needs to be improved- 1♠ should indicate 4♣ at least and a good hand so 2♣ is an easy bid. North has no easy choices over 1♥ I guess reasonable is 1NT.
  14. 3♣, partner should be able guess what you have especially if opponents raise to 3♥.
  15. No coup available at trick 9 South has no spades at that point so West has easy exits e.g. Q♥ and North has clubs still so no overruff possible. - you are guaranteed down but that club plays gives one more down- thanks for putting the boot in GIB.
  16. If GIB knows that QH is top of sequence then there can be no point in returning that suit. Then you eliminate the hearts option and clubs so what is left. If its spades then partner will get that the trick anyway so the only reasonable lead is diamonds. What a bunch of dumb simulations to miss something so obvious.
  17. Then it can bid 4H if partner bids 4C. Its a stupid double risking the spade suit, just bid 3H or 3NT.
  18. I think it almost does but so it is a stupid bid. Its only 11 TP playing in another suit other than spades so its got to be labelled as TO.
  19. A raw win for the simulation over bidding tables.
  20. If South didn't have the extra values, then North could have and it would have been almost exactly the same position. If GIB was using Goren Total Points in raise bidding (which is 5 for void, 3 for singleton, 1 for doubleton) , then it would count 12-13 TP.
  21. Why bother with analysis when GIB gives it down on any lead but the queen of spades.
  22. Also funny that if you rearrange the minor cards so that East has 5C and North 3D then I don't think you can take the 3S contract down.
  23. Definitely a bug since North has more than 9HCP and a totally rediculous bid 7+D and 3+TP- no upper limit. Either 5D or 1D or 3NT but not 4D.
