  1. Can anyone tell me how can I print the BBO advanced sys notes? I know I could access to it from logging on, but is there a word or pdf file which i can print out and check it whenever I need it? Thanks in advance. Hongjun
  2. I think 2s is pretty clear here, I dont object 2N either, but I do not want pd run away next time from 3Nx, so I prefer not to lie this time. Hongjun
  3. Free, is everyone psyching around in your eyes? Do you trust pd or opp more? If RHO made a t/o dbl or sthelse, u might suspect pd is fooling around, but now every sign shows pd is telling u what he has. Hongjun
  4. I disagree. If you can bid 1M-2m NON-forcing, it's a much bigger gain. Using relays to investigate full distribution is still a better slamapproach as well... I am not saying that a precision 2/1 GF is better than relaying. I am saying that a Precision + 2/1 GF is better than SA + 2/1 GF. Eric C'mmon, Precision with 2/1 gf is better than relay. Why retreat Eric?:)
  5. playing ace first is always right in this case.
  6. 4C splinter, else 4H, dont mess around with 2S or whatever.
  7. the spade jack makes me feel 3N is better than dbl. Pd seems unlikely to have strong holding in spade, with good hand and some spade, he will bid 3N. So now if u dbl, he is likely to bid 4H, which is not what u want. Bid 3N.
  8. pass. anybid is crazy even if u know pd tend to open weak 2 with weak hand and bad suit
  9. I asked this question one year ago and Fred gave a very detailed answer. you shld be able to search it out here.
  10. Agree here. I actually didnt see ur post but did consider this possibility, this is basically same as in ur 1M-2N-3c, either min or slam interest.
  11. No,see Mike Lawrence's complete guide to contested auction, though you can choose to use it for major only. As lawrence said, a better treatment is to play 1d-x-3d as good riase, and 1d-x-2n as bad preemptive raise.
  12. just bid 2N, jordan raise, leave it to pd decide whether we carry on or stop at 3N. hongjun
  13. When in doubt, raise. Why 2s has to be min? Hongjun
  14. I think Berkowitz's book is a bit too concise, and Rigal's book has many gardget but didnt spend much on basic problem. I think CC Wei's book is still best, though need some modification if possible. As far as I know, there is a Chinese precision by a taiwan player, guo zhehong. This is by far the best book on precision in my opinion, Not sure if it has english version though.
  15. In Acol, if 1444, then pd should open 1D. So opening 1C and raise to 2D should show a 5431 or 5422 hand. Without much discussion, 3N is probably practical choice. However, if pd has sth like: S: x H: XXX D: KQXX C: AKQXX you may miss a slam. I think i will try 2S, if pd can bid 2N, showing stopper in H, then I will raise to 3N. Slam is unlikely if pd has high card in heart suit. If pd retreat to 3C or 3D,denying H card. I will raise to 4D if it is forcing. Otherwise, i will try 6D.
  16. Hmm, what is 5N here? Since you guys think it is picking a slam in a similar thread, why cant it be pick-a-slam here?
  17. I bid 6D. Grand is asking for too much. 6 should have good chance.
  18. 4H is wrong, dbl is right in my opinion. North's hand is defensive, and dont pd go to 5 lvel, so he is kind forced to dbl to stop pd going higher.
  19. more likely is that you respond 1S and all pass. I think 1S is very bad bridge, though it may work here. Hongjun
  20. 1. 3♥ is fine, in spite of the K♦ being wallpaper. 2. 5N is clearly pick-a-slam. 3. 6♣ imo 5N cannt be pick a slam, pick from what? 6H and 6N, unlikely given the bid.
  21. I would take Pd's 5N as grand slam invitation, and bid 6c, showing one honor hard in heart. pd may have sth like: s: akqxxx h: akxx d: -- c: axx
