[hv=n=sxxhatdqjtxxcakxx&w=sjxxhkxxxdcqjtxxx&e=sq9xxhjxxxxdaxxcx&s=saktxhqxdk987xcxx]399|300|[/hv] Looks many ppl would make it at the table. At the table I adopted stripe play, which was unsucessful for the c and d distribution. Knocking out D ace looks a better line, you still keep many chance, you can sqz LHO in C/H, or RHO in S/H. Why The Italian team is the best ?

Hmm, seems China is not alone after all:) -
NORTH'S HAND S: XX H: AT D: QJTXX C: AKXX SOUTH'S HAND S: AKTX H: QX D: K987X C: XX 6D BY SOUTH, OPENING LEAD IS CQ. PLAN YOUR PLAY.

6N should have some play, and i would bid it, though 7N is not impossbile. Hongjun

If Opps are known to be beginners, I would say Psychic bid is a bit unfair. Hongjun

You can call me a blind follower of Lawrence  But seriously, I think every single piece of his suggestion deserves our consideration. Hongjun
-
You don't have to play anything they say, just because they say so. I like to use my own mind a little, while it is still working  Mike :D Everybody can use whatever he or she likes, but I think it is wiser to listen to authority's opinion before we start to devise our own sys.
-
uh. i don't know hardy, but in lawrence, if i remember corectly, this jump shows a good 5-5, concentrated suits, some extra values etc I just check Lawrence's book. There are a few different cases: 1) 1s 2c/d 3h 3h=strong two suiter 2) 1s 2h 4c/d 4c/d=splinter 3) 1s/h 2c 3d no definition. I also check Bergen's better bidding with bergen. In his book, he clearly define jump to three of a new suit as splinter.
-
In both Max Hardy and Mike Lawrence's 2/1 sys, this new suit jump rebid is splinter. I believe this should be authoritatvie enough. From a theoretical point of view, chance that you have singleton and a fit for pd is much higher than you have a strong two suiter. Hongjun
-
In either 2/1 or sayc, 3D should be splinter for club, coz 2/1 establish gf, any unnecessary jump rebid is pic bidding. jump rebid the opening suit is solid suit, requestin pd to cuebid. jump rebid a new suit is showing singleton, with good spt for pd's suit. mike lawrence's 2/1 workbook has discussed this sequence throughly. Hongjun
-
if pd has singleton hk, then selling it out doesnt matter, coz declarer has only 6h+2s+1c.
-
This looks like the right picture.

This is the standard BBF format. You are always "South" in problem hands. Maybe we should add a line that indicates direction above each hand in the diagram. I am use to south always being the declearer, so when defending I am use to being West or East. But it is possible to get adapted to the BBO standard of the "problem" hand (in this case "you") always being south. hehe, i see, i feel like sitting west, looking at dummy in north, so i spent quite a few minuites to figure out what is going on:) HJ

1) you mean that opener should pass responder's 2♥ ? 2) you mean that any opener's rebid over 2♠ (major suit rebid) is a Game Force ? Thanks !! :D Hi, Chamaco, if u r talking about 1N forcin in 2/1 framework. I suggest u read better bidding with bergen, uncontested auction. He has discussed this quite throughly. Ben may give u many good suggestion on this topic. Hongjun
-
2h only suggest to play, u can remove to 2s if ur void. any rebid above 2M is not strong, at most invitational. if pd bid 3m, it usually suggest to play there. if pd bid 3M, then it is invitational, but passable. for example, 1s 1n 2d/c 3h ? this is passable.
-
Ben, is it possible to change the display so that it is easier to read? thx in adv. hongjun
-
just throw out a trump, then follow dummy's discard. declarer will have at most 2s+1c+7h. seems there is a possible sqz, but still looks right to return trump.
-
Free, you are right about the 3♦ rebid. this was a late night post, and I just made a bblunder. opener's hand was not a reverse hand, let's say more similar to ♠AKxxx♥ void♦AJTxx♣Jxx. Now I will correct the post to this hand-type, so that the meaning of the question remains. well, i think 3d rebid is wrong, shape without fit yet wont play well. 2d rebid is correct. 3D establishs gf. hongjun

good question raised by jimmy, and greatk linked articles by Ben. Hope i can try this some time. I like this idea a lot. i also hope this is legal. i think it would be legal in china:) coz we dont have much rules about bridge.<_< hongjun

4d=10 pass=8 5d=8 other=0 hongjun
-
the problem is that pd may bid 4H after ur 2nd dbl, what will u do then? 4N? pass? hongjun

To those who list Blackwood as the candidate for worst convention, i think Blackwood is a pretty good convention, most of time it didnt work well only because the users didnt use it properly. As for the worst, perhaps sth like Opp open 1x, you cuebid 3x, asking pd, do u have a long solid minor suit pd? I do have a stopper:)
