  1. Ben, I think 2D should not be forcing here. Pd is marked with shapy hand, not strong hand. Otherwise he would dbl 1N. I think pass 2d is right. Hongjun
  2. Sorry Zar, no offend intended. THanks for your tolerance. Hongjun
  3. Ben, why waste your time on it? I believe you can bid this grand with natural bidding. I jsut dont believe any sys which claim they never miss any slam or game. hongjun
  4. Coz few really knows what the truth is!<_<
  5. Holding: S: Q7XXXX H: 98X D: KX C: XX Vul: None W N E S P 1N P 2H P 2S X ? Is 3s invitational or preemt here? what rdbl should mean here? What do you do with: 1. weak hand, want to compete to 3s 2. invitational hand, ask pd to bid 3n or 4s. 3. game force hand. Thx in advance. hongjun
  6. whatever you said, i will lead HJ. But since you say there is a sqz. apparently, club is the suit both you and pd have to guard. So the right lead in this case is cx.
  7. Ben, i think after 4S, you can try 5C on ur way to 5D, as u passed 3s, so 5c should be sort of fit bid. Upon hearing 5C, pd will bid 6d much more sensibly. fly
  8. if u have 15hcp, opening 1c, then u must have a shape hand. Over 2d, pass DOES NOT show a maximum hand, but show a hand without characteristics. If u pass then bid 3N then you should have min hand with at most 1 spade. This is because you can show 3 or 4 spades after 2d by bi dding 2s or dbl(if u play spt dbl), so after pd's 3d, 3s should show 2 spade spt, so 3N should show 1 sapde or 2 small spade. you didnt bid 3c after 2d, so your hand is likley to be 1345. After 3D, 4S has already showed slam interest i think. 4D should show D control. I think you should bid 4H if you have h control, leaving pd chance to stay at 4S without losing change to go further if he really wants.
  9. As far as I know, there is no trap pass after 1c-p-1d-1s; ? Pls refer to hamman and soloway's sys for over intervention.
  10. i think i will bid 5d, 6511 is too good for def.
  11. Ben, this kind slam is really not biddable. switch the singleton c to singleton s, 5d is the most you can make. I think your dbl is right, take the sure plus is better than a blind gamble. After RHO's 3,4,5s, do u really think h and d will break favorably to you? I would expect RHO has long s suit plus some club, rather than h.
  12. well, if this is not insane, then i think no bid is insane.
  13. better pass than to change and lose a pd.
  14. i think if pd doesnt know this, then you dont need to say too much about 3d. his dbl is of coz wrong, he should either pass or bid 3N with long d.
  15. Free, well done. In the last hand, what is their lead? If it is a club, then you should cleared c and established h. After cashing d ace and seeing d king drops, playing jack is always right, he will be endplayed if he has d kq doubleton.
  16. I am sure there is no answer to this kind question. This is not a simple question either.Bridge is not science. What is the definition of the best? Is it defined by the performance in the top level competition, or sth else? Perhaps we should say the system fits me best. Having said that, I would say precision plus 2/1 GF will be an excellent system:) Hongjun
  17. Hehe, Slothy's post is always so entertaining to read. Let me introduce myself here. My name is Hongjun ZHong, flytoox on BBO. I am from China, now I am doing PHD in Econ. in England. I started playing bridge quite long time ago but hadnt played for many years before I picked it up again last year when friend introduced me to here. Then I keep wandering around BBO all the time, without making much progress with my thesis.:( The best book in my view are: Defense: Killing Defense by Kelsey Declarer Play: Expert Game by Reese. Perhaps I should also mention the book "Most puzzling hand in bridge" by Reese. This is a great book, I read the chinese version but could not find it in any bookstore here. Does any friends in England know where I can get a copy? Bidding: All Mike Lawrence's books, especially complete book on overcall and Contested Auction. Besides this, Better biddding with Bergen is also my favorite.
  18. Thought I often disagree with you, free, I am with you this time:) Or it is better to say partnership understanding?
  19. Thought I often disagree with you, free, I am with you this time:)
  20. I think 3d followed by 3s(if possible) should tell this hand. The last way is to jump to 6s. when opener cannt take any action over 2d, 6s should be the best chance.
  21. For those who are curious. Pd's hand is S: AJTX H: KX D: XX C: KQTXX I BID 5D AFTER RHO'S 3H, THEN PD BID 6N, LHO HAS DIAMOND QXXX BEHIND, AND WE HAVE TO COLLECT 8 TRICKS AND CONCEDE THE REST. 4D seems the best bid. Pd will bid 4N or 5C. Pass may work out this time but not the other time.
  22. vul vs not, you hold: S: -- H: XX D: AKJT987 C: AJXX RHO OPENED 3H, What do you bid?
  23. I will dbl, if pd plan to pass 1sx then we definitely have no fit in any other suits. The only concern is the vulnalibity. with such good defense strength, i will dbl 100%.
  24. WELL DONE, Ben. Hope you still have time to play and answer our question in this forum. :D
