  1. You're right, but the same argument are for 6♠. You need ♠xxxx ♥AJxxx ♦xx ♣QJx minimum for bad slam, ♠xxxx ♥AKxxx ♦xx ♣QJx for a good one ♠xxx ♥AJxx ♦x ♣QJxxx for a tight one ♠xxx ♥AKxx ♦xx ♣QJxx for a nice one So: you need an good hand without diamonds from partner. 4♠. If partner would bid further I would tend to sign off at 5♠ (4♦ are misleading).
  2. Pass. Co jineho. Partner ma kratkost a jestli bude mit aspon neco reopne (3NT sam nesplnis) (2♠-x-pass-3♣♦♥-pass-?, jsi mrtvy, nevis nic noveho). Mne si blefnul partner zahajeni ;) Nastesti jsem si zduvodnil, ze tam slam nebude (ani proti zahajeni) a hrali jsme jen 3NT.
  3. 4♠. The chance for slam is rather very poor (need something like: ♠xxx ♥AJx ♦Kxx (or singleton) ♣AQxx (or dubleton) - the ♥J and ♣Q can be changed, just to stay at one finesse). Partner won't have ♠xxxx ♥AJxxxx ♦x ♣Ax (the only card bellow openning bid).
  4. A horse better is on track and sees that before start a priest bless one horse. He bet for that one. And the horse suprisingly wins. This repeats a lot of times so he decided to take all his savings and bet it on the horse where the priest is giving his blessing. But fifty yards before the tape the horse dies. The guy angrily ask the priest why the horse died, he was though blessing him. And the priest replies: That is the problem with you atheists, you never know the difference between the blessing and the last Sacrament.
  5. There is a forest congres. And the lion says: Thank you all for cleaning our forest. The frog echoes: The lion thanks you for cleaning our forest. Lion continues: I'm really pleased so I decided to give you a suprise. Frog: Lion is really pleased and he decided to give you a suprise. Lion starts to be angry: We will go for a trip!. The frog echoes again. We will go for an trip. The lion angrily adds: But the green bastard stays here! Frog add: But the alligator was so keen to go with us, such a pity!
  6. There is an American, English, Russian and Czech on board of airplane, when all engines sudently turn off and the crash is inevitable, but just 3 parachutes are on board. First the Russian takes parachute and says: I, as a member of world most intelligent nation, have right to save me. The second is American: I, as a citizen of the most wealthy nation, have right to save me and jumps as well. The British says: I could save me also as a citizen of most mannered nation, but I am a getlemen. Please take my parachute. And the Czech replies: Thank you, but this is not necessary, because there are still two parachutes left. The citizen of most intelligent nation jumped with my backpack. (Also I have a lot of jokes, where the Czech are the best - as any nation does, I assume. Again if you are interrested write me for more)
  7. The policeman jumps into an tram and call: Follow the taxi! (there is a lot of jokes on policemen in czech rep, if you are interrested write me, I'll add some more - but there often rather stupid)
  8. Hi, I add some, but please excuse my english, I'll try to translate them from czech. An old grandma visits a doctor and asks: Please Mr. Doctor, What is the name of the German, who hides all my things? And Doctor replies: Alzheimer, Grandma, Alzheimer.

    Elections

A bit pessimistic view, isn't it?
  10. IMHO: There are two possible bids 4♥ and 6♠. I would prefer 6♠. Partner couldn't find better hand than I have, so the slam should be cool. The 7♠ are far far away (say ♠AKQxxx ♥KQxx ♦- ♣Kxx he would - probably - open 2♣). 6♠ also give no information to opps, that's always good.

    Elections

Czech Republic: 1. The limit for getting "in" is 5% overall. The mandates are divided by percentages in 14 districts (each has different amount of mandates) between all who got in the parliament. 2. This year 65%, last time 60%. But in long time it is decreasing. 3. No, in last three (maybe four) elections no clear winner. This time the left:right is 100:100, new election or big coalition or something unstable ahead
  12. Hi, we just had elections in Czech Republic and I realized that I don't know a lot about elections methods in other states. So if I can ask: - what is the election type in your country? - how many people usually vote? - is the election winner "clear"? (he can reign without coalition or the coalition is simple) Preclaimer: All texts in this thread are just for increasing my knoledge (or readers which are intrested). The info here can be wrong. Please do not search here anything else and take in account the posters do not promise anything (esp. they have not made a mistake). This thread does not serve for any propagade.
  13. I would bid Michaels cuebid. In common method it is 2♠. I rather bid 10 cards then 6, esp. when I want my partner to bid at 5th level. Imho: If it would be really necessary I can show better hearts later: 1♠ - 2♠ - x - pass! pass - 3♥ where pass is "do it yourself" 1♠ - 2♠ - 3♠ - pass 4♠ - 4NT or 1♠ - 2♠ - 4♠ - pass pass - 4NT (or similar) 4NT = hearts better then minor (otherwise 5♣♦). But this has to be in partnership agreement. It makes sence but should be discussed. BTW: in the follow up bidding partner pass the first round after 4NT (doubled or not) if he wants to know the minor. He may bid 5♣♦ as "this or hearts".
  14. We were trying the Funtunes system (Fantoni Nunes), where 1♠ = 13+, 5+ 2♠ = 9-12, 5+ (even weak - no honors) There was written 2♠-3♥ as game force, don't ask me why (we were just having some fun with new system).
  15. I don't like Granovetter's ideas (well, some of them). I read his book "Murder at the bridge table" (maybe the name is bit different, not sure now) and some of the ideas are sometimes 50 years old. They are not completly bad, but better agreements exists. But what is the Rumpelson method? I know&play Lebensohl, but this one I hear for the first time. Can someone post description or some link? Thanks
  16. 3♥, a bit overbid but it was their idea to preempt... But I have about 7 loosing tricks, this should work if partner has ♥ or ♠. I'm not sure what I will do after 3NT from partner. Would you pass? 3♦ - 3♥ - p - 3NT p - ?
  17. 4♠ I don't see any other bid. Partner has 13-17 my seven and 4-card could make a game. In Lawrence SST&WP: SST is 4, maybe less (5 can occur as well). WP 19-24 points, that is 9 or 10 tricks. At IMPS no doubt 4♠, at MP I'm not sure, pass could be better. In Losing tricks: I have 8, partner should have 6-7 for his overcall --> 4♠ :P
  18. Could there be a button as "send to abuse" which would collect all information and send it to abuse (say with some small comment from sender)? It would help a lot (rather easy thing for implementing and very easy to use, of course some misuse penalties could be given for some (often) wrong abusers - but you probably do it as well).
  19. [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdakxcax]133|100|[/hv] Is this hand OK for 3♠ bid?
  20. Sorry, misclick. Can I move this thread? And the second one I created?
  21. Sorry, misclick. Can I move this thread?
  22. The bidding goes: 2♥! - pass - 2♠! - 3♠ 2♥ = 6+♥ or 5♥+4 any, preemptive 2♠ = searching for the second suit, usualy (3)4+♠ What is 3♠?
  23. Your partner opens 2♠ as 9-12 with 5+♠ (or for 2/1: 1♠ and you "know" he is weak) what will be your bid with? [hv=d=n&v=n&s=sxxxhakxxxxxdxcxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]
  24. Aby tam byl slam partner musi mit: ♠AK (AQ) ♥AK (A) ♦A (nebo ♣) Co kdyz drazba pujde: 1♠ - p - 4NT - p (bych se divil kdyby zasahl, mozna x) a ted se uvidi proti 3+Q a 4 reknu 6♠ jinak 5♠. Pres 4♠ souperi asi stejne vydrazi 5♣♦ (jeden z tech fitu maji urcite + pikove vylouceni). A LHO je silny (kdyz RHO passoval...). Takze stejne budeme hrat 5♠. A proc si cestou nezjistit slam. Druha varianta je 2♥, GF (kartu na to mam), ale ted uz zacnou souperi drazit.
  25. And I forgot: Any who says "you're imbecil" is ... Even if you would made a mistake, it can be said in polite way. I don't think these 3♦ is a mistake. It is overbid, but has a reason.
