  1. Funny things in Syndey. The same in Czech Republic.... That was the day I start to dislike (or hate) all the EBF. Yes it is freeloading, but you can't do anything about it. Your only option is to not run the event (usually one month before start or earlier) - and you wish to run it...
  2. The problem is the 2♦ bid. If 2♦ was natural, then 2♥ ask for heart stopper. Usually it is without 3♠ and 4♦, thus 2236 or 2326 or longer ♣ (2434, 2335 are nt rebid) . If 2♦ was forsing, then depends on your agreement. 2♥ in some of them is 3♥, in some of them natural 4♥... If no clear agreement: I would await, that partner knows we have some bidding problems and he is trying to find heart stopper for 3NT with wide range of shapes. :)
  3. I run tourney and there was no result for one of players. Tourney #488 (17.7.2006): shosh71, should be on 59 place (he said). I looked at the boards and he played all of them. Where is the problem?
  4. The ban of any bid is questionable. The laws allows player to make ANY bid... When a tourney denies the right to psych it is against the law. So the tourney proposition should be automaticly canceled... (so it works with "normal" laws, doesn't it? If something in a document is against law, the document can/should be canceled... (it least i think it works this way))
  5. I just created a bigger tourney (i'm bit megaloman sometimes) and it was divided into two sections. What is the criteria for two sections. And the reasons (just curious)?
  6. I understand it. I am asking whether my policy is reasonable, I am asking TDs for their opinion. I can have any policy, but some are more comfortable to others...
  7. Yup, it was indivual and noone ever passed 1 over 1 over 1 in individual...
  8. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=saqjxhxxxxdjxxcax&s=skxxhakqdakq10xxcj]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The bidding goes: 1♦ - pass - 1♥ - pass Here is your first problem. 1♠ - pass - 4♠ - pass What now? 4NT - pass - 5♥ - pass And now? 7♥ How to bid this properly after 1♦. Would you open 2♣?
  9. Ooops, I always thought that 1♣-2♦ in sayc is weak 0-6... No. I have no idea how could i know about it  ?
  10. The bidding goes: 1♣ - pass - 2♦ -pass 2♠ and further on to 3NT Opp complained that 2♦ should be weak in sayc and asked for AV-+. The 2♦er had 11 with 5♦, the openner about 15 with clubs and spades and two diamonds. Is this just misclick, discovered by openner (that was my conclussion). Or anything else (what in individual?)?
  11. Individuals only! Hi, I'm not sure whether I substitude right. Please comment my method. Thanks all for any post: 1. Player is red -> sub immediately 2. Player is red dot -> sub immediately when in hurry OR ask "are you here?", wait 10-20sec, sub 3. opps complain, that player is not bidding -> ask "are you here?", wait 10-20sec, sub The problem is that one player complained for substituding. It was point 3, i waited about 15 sec and sub him, after i click substitude, he replied... Is this just pity, or I'm doing something wrong?
  12. LHO can have six, RHO can have three... (few points and/or weak suit forces them to pass). But: I'm bidding 4♥ here. FTL speaks it could be good (and "be optimistic" is a part of FTL). I have some nice points and partner invites, maybe I don't use FTL at all, I just bid 4♥.
  13. I would introduce a special BBO forum gas tax for all who pay for gas less then $5 per gallon and who complain for gas prices... :) €1/l
  14. I think you misevaluated the hand. You have SST of 4 (maybe 3). Working points: partner has about about 12 for his bidding. You have max 8 (don't tell me you counted ♠Q after this bidding). That is 3♣ making. The opps have SST of 4 as well, and about max 18 WP, probably less. So the double should be clear choice.
  15. IMHO: The bridge law allows to psych, it is explicitly said there - player is allowed to choose any bid (even deceptive unless it is not unannounced agreement - my czech2english translation). The director cannot and should not be more then the law. I can understand ban in newbee tournament with also some system limits (no brownsticker etc.), but not elsewhere. But even here it is against the bridge law (I understand the ban, I don't agree with it).
  16. First 1♠ at MP, maybe 2♠ balance at IMPS. The second 2♥, I don't like 1NT without stopper (when I have bid).
  17. Thanks for explaining! Now i understand it. BBO uses cross-imps divided with number of tables the board is played. (Hope this is true :P )
  18. But the decimal places? The table which converts total points difference (your against average) is for full IMPs (20-40 is 1 imp etc.). How can you get 1.3 IMP?
  19. Hi, this was surely answered but I haven't found it (could this be in Bridge Library section?): How are calculated the IMPs at BBO (especially the decimal places)?
  20. Thanks for help! Can this be implemented in some future version of software? Table view of tourney: Different colors for playing and finished and problematic (red or red dot) (and slow tables - but this is not that important). Thanks
  21. Hi, I just started TDing on BBO and I have ideas for improvement. I would like if others TD would make some feedback for this. Improvements: I1. Could be the TD-caller flashing when arriving at table? I2. Could be the player, who should bid, somehow visible? (I nearly substitude another player...) I3. Could be in the tables view visible which tables are playing, finished, have problems, are slow? I think that different colors should be great. Tables that have problems are with red or with large delay (someone thinking or not responding, or red dot...). Slow tables could be those that are 3 cards after average (= they may require some TD supervisory). I4. This is connected with I3 - is it possible to make the tournament status more accessible - just one button or so? If I3 is implemented, this point has no sence. I5. Individual + Survivor together - now it is not possible. I6. Is it possible to make some welcome/end makro "welcome all...."? If not could this be implemented? Questions: Q1. I made 48 pairs & survivor 30% tourney. There was loged in 48 pairs but first round had just 22 tables. How is this possible? Q2. For what is the board history good? Q3. How can one player have "no information available" instead of profile? Q4. How to make survivor cut also in the first round? Or it makes no sence? Q5. How is the survivor rounding, 15% of 9 is 1 table? Remembers it that next round there could be larger cut (this round was 11, so we have 4% for next round...), or it is still 15%? Q6. What mean the barometer option? I thought that barometer is that you know the results during tourney... (but you always know, don't you?) Q7. How to set "start when full". Or how to make it? Edit tourney start in 0 min? Q8. How to enter tournament rules? What to write there (what is common to write there on BBO)? Q9. What is the reasonable followup for substitution at pair events? Wait until someone calls? Or ask the partner if he accepts some sub... I think that this is all. May be one more thing: Could it be possible to have online laws with bookmarks (<A href="law.html#here), so if some player doesn't agree with me I can send him link to laws - they usually don't know them...).. I would be glad for any feedback to this questions and improvement ideas.
  22. I have 1440x900 @ 17" and there is no chance for full screen. I managed to have full height (or so) and about 2/3 of width. But you can live with it... You can have bridge movie on your right (there is space just for it) or some icq or so. It is not that bad, I used to it.
  23. I would like to manage some tournaments. How to proceed? If this is possible: How many tables can be handled with playing TD? How many tables can be handled with one non-playing TD? Where to get second TD? How to be such a TD?
  24. 2♠ If partner has something more he can bid. I don't have anything special: the ♠Q is probably worthless in 5-5 spade fit and my distribution 5332 is not that great (compare it with 5332 with 5 other then spades).
