  1. 5♠. I couldn't look into my partner's eyes if he had two spades, three hearts, 8 minor cards.
  2. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=skxhxdaqxcakqxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] What would you open? Say you open 1♣: 1♣ - pass - 1♥* - 1♠ ? What is your rebid? 1♥ is 4+♥ but could have longer diamonds if weaker than 12 HCP. Lets say you rebid 3NT. Should partner run for slam with?: [hv=d=s&v=n&s=skxhxdaqxcakqxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]
  3. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sakqxhakqjxxdc10xx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 1♥ - pass - 2♥ - pass ? Your options; 3♦ diamonds shortness 4♦ diamond void (interresting hand, otherwise 3♦ even with void) 2NT 4♠ 2♠ help-suit ask What would you use to know patners club honors? Some more remarks hidden:
  4. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=s7hkq87dak5cq9643&w=s1092h102d7642ck1052&e=sakq3h943dqj1093cj&s=sj8654haj65d8ca87]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The bidding was: 1♦ - x - 2NT - 3NT - all where 1♦ = standard with 4+♦ 2NT = 0-6 HCP, (4)5+♦, could have (weak) major (Don't comment the 3NT bid, that is not the reason of this topic) The lead was ♠A, I signalled ♠2 for clubs. Partner led ♣J that was taken by ♣Q, that quicly leads to one down (declarer lead small to ♣A and club back, but there are low chances anymore). If declarer would lead clubs himself, he (probably) leads small club to ace and club back and he fulfills the contract. Should he take the ♣J with ♣A? So: Made he a mistake OR we are such a good defenders?
  5. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=skj943h52dk76ca103]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♦ - pass - 1♠ - 2♣ pass - pass - ? Nepiste zadne odpovedi jako reply, pouze hlasujte. Pokud chcete mit nejake dlouhodobejsi vysledky, zaslete mi svoji odpoved jako private message (tlacitko PM pod timto prispevkem). Tento kviz bude uzavren po 5 odpovedich. 6. OK, ok. I wrote it before: How to play slam, but not 6♦, that are impossible to fulfill. I assume that the 2nd bidding could work.
  7. Proti 5-5 na drahych nic nemam. Ale tahle konvence ti nepopise list 6610 (jenom ho priblizi a podle me je lepsi ji s 6-6 nepouzit). Konvence 6-6 na drahych imho je uchylna.
Stejne musim tu druhou barvu vypracovat Abych nekdy odpovedel na puvodni otazku: Vybral bych si jednu barvu a tu drazil (var. 1, pripadne var. 3). Nemyslim si, ze je mozne bez uchylnych konvenci (smolen neni uchylny) nadrazit dva sestilisty. Takova konvence by btw byla dlouhodobe ztratova, nema to totiz moc velkou cetnost (20% z rozlohy 6610 = 0.072% * 0.2 = 0.015% a to jeste partner musi zahajit silny bez, souper nezasahnout, buh vi jestli by to prislo jedno za zivot).
  9. Maybe I should change the title: How not to play 6♦. It is the only slam which is impossible to fulfill
  10. Why should 4♦ be with the club fit? I think that South as no clue about the fit...
  11. I use Avast. I have experiences it is slightly better then AVG. The price is the same as AVG (small differences, AVG was cheaper), it is free for home use.
  12. [hv=d=s&n=sqxhxxxdaqjxcakxx&s=sakxhkdkxxcqj9xxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Is there any (reasonable) chance to bid the slam after 3♥ overcall? If yes, how should we proceed? 1♣ - (3♥) - ?
  13. Last evening we had a nice board - that we failed to bid. [hv=d=s&v=b&n=sakxhxdxxxcakqjxx&s=shkqj10xxdakxxxcxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The bidding went all bad but after the board we had a discussion how should we bid. I would appreciate any ideas. Here is mine: 1♥ - 2♣ (GF on ♣ or 6+♣, 10-12) 2♦ (GF even against long clubs, 5-4) Now the 2♣ has a lot of information: The 1♥ bidder doesn't have as nice hearts as are his clubs (we bid 3♥ with really nice hearts). The diamonds have no future - the 1♥ bidder has to have at least five of them with a lot of honors and if he has them, than 6♣ will be lay down as well). He should therefore now go for club slam: 1♥ - 2♣ 2♦ - 4♣ (RHCB) 4♥ (here 1) - 4NT (Any other values?) 5♦ (♦K) - 6♣ PS: We played 6♦: 1♥ - 2♣ 2♦ - 2♠ 3♥ - 3[NT] 4♦ - 6♦
  14. Ahoj, trosku nam nase bridzove forum umira a proto mam na Vas par otazek: 1) Myslite si, ze ma ceske forum smysl? Rekneme s porovnanim anglickeho fora na bridgebase. Tedy: ma smysl dat prispevek do ceskeho fora namisto anglickeho? 2) Jste ochotni prispivat do fora novymi vlakny nebo jen pisete sve nazory na jiz existujici prispevky? 3) Pisete sve nazory nebo si jen ctete co Vam pripadne zajimave? Uzaverka tohoto hlasovani bude doufejme k 31.12.2006.
  15. OK. You convince me, 4♥ was a bad idea  [hv=n=skxhqd109xcq10xxxxx&s=sa10xhaj9xxdaqxxck]133|200|[/hv]
  16. 1) 2♥ and pass 2♠, if other bid (super-accept) then 4♠ 2) 3NT 3) x (penalty; I don't think we can make 3NT against strong 3♠ bid) 4) pass
  17. I don't understand the position of the majority of you. Say it is unethical (I don't say yes or no, just assume it is unethical). If Free opens this topic he obviously had not done this as intentional break of rules (ethical or the rule book). I don't think that you should blame him the way you did. Everyone can make mistake and if he's willing to accept it and teach from it, I see NO reason to write "I hope I will never play against him". Second, I think that you are not allowed to lay questions to opponents to misguide them. There is a paragraph in the rules about this, but it was ment rather to other occassions*. In this case you cannot say if the result was a discovery way to know, what is the double or intentional conversation in order to misguide opponents. (Unless Free says he did it). And by the way, isn't the liability of each pair to know their system (so they shouldn't be misguided). * In common, rules solves things that can be solved, not some hypothethical possibilities. It is highly unusual that someone will call TD on himself for misguiding opps (in this case this law would apply). I understand that some of you won't accept my view but I hope that at least some of you stop blaming Free. IMHO the situation is not that clear is you may be think. Some final words: You shouldn't intentionally misguide opps, but the opps should be able to protect themself (unless some beginners). So no harm done, but I agree that Free has commited unethethical action.
  18. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sa10xhaj9xxdaqxxck]133|100|Scoring: IMP p - p - 3♠ - ?[/hv]
  19. How would you play this contract: [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sxxxhk10xxxdqxc87x&s=shxxdakj10xxxcaj62]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The bidding goes: 1♦* - 5♦ - x** - all * 1♦ = 17-20, unbalanced ** long hesitation Lead ♠K. How to play this board to make it two down? Don't blame me for 5♦ I was upset from the board before :)
  20. Sorry I forgot to write the lead, some spade (don't remember it now, it wasn't obvious doubleton).
  21. [hv=d=s&v=e&n=saqxxxhkxdqj10cq10x&s=skxhqj98xdxxxcxxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 2♥ - pass - pass - pass 2♥ = (0)3-8, 5♥ Would you discard club on spade (needs spades 3-3) or would you try to trump out and play spades (needs club finesse or defense error).
  22. OK, 1♣ - 1♥ - 1♠ - 2♦ is only forsing (9+) 3♥ reply shows 3♥ and reserve (GF against 9) 2♥ just 3♥ and isn't forsing (against weak 9) 2NT and 3NT shows full diamond stopper (3NT with some reserve) 3♣ is the only possible answer after 2♦ (without lie). After 3♣: 4♦ is kickback and 4NT therefore could be natural. But we never spoke about it (general principle is to have both RKCB and BW if possible, but it was ment for 4 level bidding, not jump to 4NT). For this case is natural quite good, but I'm not sure if it is good principle (but probably yes). So the right bid after 3♣ was 4NT (as natural). Just one curious question, what if you think that 4NT will be taken as BW (at the table I hadn't thought about 4NT even a second - but if I had I would probably think also about this one). Is there any possibility without natural 4NT?
  23. Sorry, let's start again from the beginning. What is the meaning of 4NT? I said I think it should be natural. That means partner can pass with a minimum, or bid a slam with a better hand. 4NT shows a hand which is too strong for 3NT but not good enough to insist on slam. I think that's what you've got. If you want to agree to show the number of aces in response when you have a maximum then that's fine, but personally I think that's just confusing (why isn't 5♣ natural?) and East should simply bid 6NT. Sorry, I play BW so often I take it sometimes as natural  And the response... I would say 5NT as "I'm not sure" 14 points is not a maximum. But I have nice points. We open weak 1NT and we rebid 1NT (as 15-17) with any balanced distribution (even 4 cards in partner suit). For 12-14: i,ii openned 1NT; iii: 1♠ For 15-17: i,ii 1NT; iii: 1♠
