  1. You're right (I switched the ♣K). Thanks for writting them. If 5♣ is 0 or 3 and only 2 aces are missing then it has to be response with some king (when you have the club one, it is MUCH easier to know with which king).
  2. Thanks for replies, I was just not sure. The vugraph was: North: x A KQJxx AJxxxx 1♠ - pass - 2♣ - 2♥ 2♠ - 3♥ - 4♦ - pass 4♥ - pass - 4NT - pass 5♣ 0 or 3, It is obvious that partner took 4♦ as cuebid for spades. What will be your bid? Helgemo bid 7♦, it is the best contract as South has: AKxxxx x Axx Kxx (spades are 3-3, clubs 2-2...)
  3. I'm a bit affraid of .NET: 1. The instalation problems as mentioned. 2. It is slow, when I run application which is slow, it is always .NET (no idea why - even when the developers say it is optimalizied). Is it possible to port .NET outside Windows? (never have heard of it, but I'm stucked in windows :D )
  4. Some super-transfer system? Or I-just-bid-what-I-do-not-have-system? :D Once we were playing last round in long competition and decided that we will extend our system: 1. We have to bluff at least three times during evening 2. If I discover partners bluff, I have to bluff also (of course this agreement was presented to the opponents) An funny bidding occurs (NV x NV): 1♦ - 1♠ - 2♣ - ? I had ♠Kxxxxxx ♥x some ♦♣ So I bid 4♥, which is natural in our method. The bidding continues: 1♦ - 1♠ - 2♣ - 4♥ 5♣ - 5♥ - all partner had ♠xxx ♥xx some ♦♣ We make a safe of 5♥ against 4♥ (we saved just 20, we were 8 down). Maybe this is the same agreement.
  5. 1♠. I don't see the reason for 4♠. Why to give up a slam, ♣AK should be enought...
  6. 3♣ the first one and double the second. . . . Just kidding, two passes :D
  7. 1♠ - pass - 2♣ - 2♥ 2♠ - 3♥ - 4♦ What are 4♦? What would be double? And 4♥? In Vugraph there was a misunderstanding (but with good end) and I was not sure what this bid should be... Assume 2/1
Ty potom opravis do 4♥.
  9. 1♥ - 2♦ - x - pass 3♣ - pass - 3♦ - pass 3♦ je dotaz na zadr (ne?), kdyz jsme nenalezli fit 4-4 v pikach. Prijdou 3♥ (co ma rict jineho). Co dal? 1♥ - 2♦ - x - pass 3♣ - pass - 3♦ - pass 3♥ - pass - ?
  10. Partner is (probably) void in spades. Hand as mentioned above 0346 or 0436, he has only ♣KQ so he has to have a lot of points outside clubs. 6♣ will probably make: imho: partner cannot have ♠- ♥Kxx ♦Kxxx ♣KQxxxx With one ace there is reasonable chance for 6♣, with 2 aces it should go. 5♠x: We will make (if we have 6♣): ♠ 0-1 ♥ (1) 2-3 ♦ (2) 3-4 ♣ 0 (someone will have a void) That is (4)5-8 tricks for (1100)1400-2300. This one is tricky. I'll bid 6♣ and double 6♠ ;) If the opps will not bid (you know them, don't you): If they are crazy or young double, otherwise 6♣.
  11. 3♦ or 3NT (if it is a shut-up bid).
  12. How would you bid if 2♠ are not forsing? (that was my case, I'm sorry I haven't written it)
  13. S tim plne souhlasim.
  14. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skqjxxhkxxdajxxcx&s=s10xxhaq9xxdxcaqxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP 1♥ - 2♦ - ?[/hv] Jak budete dal drazit po zasahu soupere 2♦? Muzete drazit libovolny system (ktery ma 1♥ prirozene), zajima me i drazba bez dohod.
  15. I'm not sure whether 2♠ are forsing... How do you play it?
  16. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skqjxxhkxxdajxxcx&s=s10xxhaq9xxdxcaqxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP 1♥ - 2♦ - ?[/hv] How would you bid these hands? 2♦ overcall is natural, opps pass further. You can use any system you like (1♥ is natural). I'm not sure how to bid this hand, so all opinions are welcome.
  17. I'm going to play this some time (but not sure when): The standard american plays 5 card major and better minor. What to play it switched: 5 card MINOR and better major (of cource the minor openning is prefered to the better major) There is a lot of funny moments: inverted majors forsing NT after minor (but not major) some clever fitting tool for fitting the minor etc. You can play here any convention, but do not forget to switch minor-major. You won't get any good result, but I think you enjoy it a lot
  18. LHO 6-4 RHO 15-17, ♦AJ I would play ♠x towards king. This will be probably taken with the ace (if not I can locate other honors). Variant 1: Diamond will return and I ruff with 4 (finesse for the jack). If this holds, ♠Q and spade ruff, club towards 10 (finesse for the jack). If this holds and LHO has no more clubs ♥K and repeat finesse in clubs. Just made or one down. Variant 2: If RHO will return heart, I'll play for club finesse and club 3-1 or 2-2.
  19. 4♣. Well, I don't see here any problem. I have maximum for 3♥ bid, two hearts aren't great BUT it is a fit. After partner starts cuebidding, I have to cuebid as well (it is strange that he is cuebidding, but 4♣ cost nothing). 1♥ - 1NT 2♥ - 3♥ 3♠ - 4♣ 4♦ - 4♠ (if no 4♦ bid an easy 4♥ - unless you cuebid only aces) I would be avaiting hand with diamond singleton or void. Partner has to have a superb hand and after 2♥ (11-14), it could be only with some void (or singleton). And from my hand it is obviosly ♦ (why the opps are not bidding? on 9-10♠ or 10-11♣)
  20. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sq10xxxhdaj109xxcax]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Playing precision: 1♠ - pass - 3NT - pass ? 3NT is 12-15, balanced with 3♠ support. What will be your bid? You play cuebids, your agreements are rather poor. I bid 4♦: 1♠ - pass - 3NT - pass 4♦ - pass - 4♠ - pass ? What will be your bid? I bid 5♦. Is this reasonable? How would you bid after 1♠ - pass - 3NT? [hv=d=s&v=n&n=saj9hakqxdxxcxxxx&s=sq10xxxhdaj109xxcax]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv]
  21. As a mathematician, I find this a bit unfair. While we may have fun reducing problems to previously solved problems, I don't think we reduce non-problems to previously solved problems. ;) (Or maybe this is a harsher critique than I'd originally thought. :P ) There are many versions of this joke. A nice variant goes something like: An engineer wakes up and sees that the house is on fire, grabs a trashcan, fills it with water, and puts out the fire. A physicist wakes up and sees that the house is on fire, sees a fire hose, calculates the precise trajectory [etc etc physics nonsense] and puts out the fire. A mathematician wakes up and sees that the house is on fire, sees the fire hose, says "Aha! A solution exists!" and goes back to sleep. Andy The mathematician sees the fire hose, tests whether the water could be running (turns it on and off). And now he says "A solution exists". ;)
  22. I would never open it 1NT. With 2-2 in majors I can't survive against 5-5 majors in partner's hand: (playing smolen, similar in other methods) 1NT - p - 2♣ - p 2♦ - p - 3♠ - p 3NT - p - 4♥ The 5422 hand should be major+minor in the lengths. The same problem is with 54 on majors (a bit smaller). 1♣ with 2♣ rebid over major.
  23. I'll try short clubs, but I would prefer the method where I can show 4 spades. The 4-4 fit is usually better We play kokish game tries (is also known under different names): 1♥ - pass - 2♥ - pass 2♠ = ask for nearest help suit 2NT = 4♠ (if partner doesn't have 4 spades, he takes it as help-suit) 3♣♦ = shortness So I would say 2NT in kokish or short clubs in your system.
  24. Tak ty pocty: Parner:12+ RHO:rekneme do 10 Ja:3 LHO:nevime, ale minimalne 15 (12+10+3=25 a k tomu doplnek) Slam tam muze byt proti hezkym 17 u partnera a 20 horsich. To znamena, ze hladam 8 bodovou rezervu u partnera. co vim: 12+,-10,3,15+ co chci zkusit: 20,-10,3,15+ ==> 20,2,3,15 (17,2-5,3,15-18) 5♠ budu hrat tak jako tak. Nerikej mi, ze 4♠ LHO zapasuje kdyz MA levne a 15+ s pikovou kratkosti. Tomu neuverim. Takze stejne hrajem 5♠ a cestou si zjistim (nepravdepodobny) slam.
