What hand it could be?
-
1♠ - p - 2♦ - p 2♥, non forsing, hearts (usually up to 17-18 HCP) 3♥, forsing, hearts (above 18), some play even as game forsing 4♥, splinter for ♦ Has to be this way if (and that is the standard and 2/1 way): 1♠ - p - 2♦ - p 2♥ is not forsing. edited: That's nonsence. (mr1303 is right, but some had not managed to read that reply, so don't try to convince me that this is just wrong). I keep it here just to make sence for most of this forum

OK, thanks for comments. Now modification: Assume, that 1♦ - x is an normal take out OR 5+♥ & 4♠, (9)11-15 What would this double mean? 1♦ - 1♥ - 1NT - p 2♣ - x
-
Make sence only when stayman is at least invitational.
-
1♦ - 1♥ - 1NT - p 2♣ - x What means the double? Please try to explain why it shouldn't be any other choice. Opps played polish club, but it doesn't matter here. You can take they play standard.
-
I play weak NT, and there is just one bid: pass (what if partner is weak). Against strong (if stayman is at least invitational), I would prefer: double as penalty 2♠ with 4+spades (my attitude is that if openners has 5-card major in NT he is NOT searching 5-3 fit).

Major Two-Suiter: 1Lvl, 2Lvl or Pass?
Miron replied to Sigi_BC84's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I don't preempt with 11 points on 5-5 majors and just Q outside long suits. One my friend has this attitude (and where we are playing together our 2nd level are different for 2 points ;) ). Clear 1♠ for me, but I know people who would bid 2♥. -
Are you not afraid that partner will think that you're bit stronger? What if he bids further (f.e. 2♥)?
-
1: pass 2: pass 3: pass (4 points against some 20, 4♣x should fall, I don't see any game chance here - partner has balanced hand)

[hv=s=sj108632hjdq1064c82]133|100|[/hv] 1♣ - p - 1♦ - 1♥ p - ? What will be your bid?
-
[hv=s=s643hj9874daq7c94]133|100|[/hv] 1♦ - 1♠ - ? What will be your bid? Partner told my: another bid you don't have. So I really want to know, if I am bidding that bad.
-
Q1: pass, no matter of vulnerability Q2: 3NT is good idea, I like it Q3A: Parner knows that I have ♥ trapping pass (how elso I could bid 3NT). And he bids 4♦. 6-5? Sounds good. Q3B: 4♠. Difficult to make, but 4♥, 5♣, 5♦ are worser. And when he did not pass 3NT, he woun't pass 4NT
-
pass. I don't like the ♥AJ109x, both ♥KQ (probably) behind me. Hearts are useless for us, and outside hears I don't have any usable honor. Pass will score probably some small plus (-1 I assume). Even 1♥x= might be good for us (better then 3NTx :-) ).

Who is "guilty" - 2?
Miron replied to Helmer's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
2♦ are a bit weaker but void and 6-card, OK to me. Double is just wrong: spades before spades, hearts never bid by opps (will be divided) and just four of them. Partner has just diamonds and they have clubs. In best case partner has 4 clubs. Doubler is (the only one) guilty. -
Who is "guilty" - 4?

Double is take out, never penalty. You need take out more often then punishement. I think that South should bid, very nice hand, 11HCP 5-5, 6 loosers: 3♥. -
Who is "guilty" - last one?
Miron replied to Helmer's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I think that North should not say: 1NT, 2NT, pass ;) 1NT: He has not enough points for invite 2NT: He does not have diamond stopper (Qx...) pass: partner surely does not want to play 3♦ (after double on 2♦) North is quilty, sentenced for 5 boards :o -
3♣ are risky (he knows that opps are probably on 4-3 or 5-2 ♥ fit. Also he has four spades before spades. 4♣ are crazy. Partner balanced and opps move one level higher. Be happy for that. I vote for Opener (although Responder has a small -). edited: I changed opener/responder, sorry
-
OK, 5♦ over 4♦ are crazy :D Pass could be quite good. 4D will be played. Over 3NT: pass (or 4♣ and pass partner's bid). (Double comrades, what will you choose? Other's can join as well ;) ).
-
What? Pass or 5♦ (would say 5♦, but pass is quite reasonable).
-
I dont play lebensohl from reopen, but it can be played. I have never decided wheter the lebensohl is good from reopen (no is now winning). The disadvantage is that you can't bid 4-card suits, you have to lie them (2♥ - p - p - x | p - 2♠ should be 5-cards in lebensohl...). 3♣ 3♣
-
The best advantage of DONT is that you are never forced to 3th level. I don't like the Woolsey against strong NT, because after 2♥♠ in misfit, you play 3♣♦ (doubled). And 2NT are even worser. The Woolsey is very similar to Cappelletti: 2♣ 1-suiter of unknown color 2♦ 4+4+ majors 2♥♠ Major and minor 2NT Minors (double is sometimes played 5m-4M against strong NT)
-
Bid 2♣, 54. I show 9 cards and spades will be better trumps on 4-4 fit. I'm going to ruff red suits, and it's better to ruff from the shorter (or equal) trumps. Also I take some bidding space.
-
Yes, if partner has an dubleton, it's solid (for the 6♥ I'll need some ♥ support - that was the reason not to open 4♥).
-
Double. For 4♥♠ when ruffing in long trumps, I will need 9+card fit. If partners pass, I have very good hand for defence.
