If you SHOULD HAVE passed 1C and then pass a gameforcing bid, you have violated partnership agreements TWICE in one hand. I would wonder why your pd would ever play with you again!
-
If you play gameforcing jump reverse, then play it!! Seems to me that unilaterally altering partnership agreemenst is a sometimes incurable disease. You have diamond stops, bid 3NT. Just because you might pass 1C, is not a reason to pass a game forcing bid.

With regular partners, our style is that the 2nd bid by opener must be the one that most accurately describes the hand. In this case, opener has a self sufficient heart suit, and game values (19+) in that suit as responder must have 6 minimum for his bid. The lone club eliminates a 2NT bid, as does the 6th heart. 3H is an underbid, imo. Personal preference eliminates mis-describing the shape of the hand with with any D or C bid. I see no benefit in a temprizing bid here. 4C as a splinter is a possibility, but seems rather pointless here without a known fit. 4H best describes the hand to responder and he has options to investigate slam should he have more strength than the promised minimum.

Talking a good game of bridge

You might find my standard rule helpful. If any pickup partner discusses errors I may make while ignoring any discussion of ones I know they made, They go on my permanent ignore list. When I learned to snow ski years ago an instructor told me not to go on runs that my freinds suggest because my friend were not eager to teach me to ski, they were eager to convince me how well they could ski. Bridge is much the same. -

Honestly passing or dishonestly responding?

Conventions such as Michaels and Unusual NT were invented based on the playing power of 5-5 hands. This premise should not be ignored just because one happens to be responder rather than overcaller. I would value this as 7 playing points and make an EASY 1♠ bid -

Which Cue Bid Is Which?

Frankly, it is not posible to provide a worthy response without any knowledge as to the strength of your 5-5 hand.   -
Grand Slam in Game II: ATB and how would you bid it
fourdad replied to Mbodell's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
If the X is an opening hand with support for the unbid suits and, over a minor opening does NOT promise four spades (as a X of 1H would), then 4S shows an opening hand w/ 5+ spdaes. As W has an easy 20+ point count 6S should be automatic. How can South alert "precision" on this hand? Is it not a pure psyche? -

"As the director, I call them as I see them. The score stands and I will entertain no further discussion" Type that ONCE, the ignore! Why work yourself up? -
What do continuations mean?

Vulnerable, you might consider constructive weak 2's, reserving the 5-9 for NV situations. -

What was your agreement on what constitutes an opening hand? A ratty 11 pts full of queens with a Qx and no 4 card major? Seems to me all the rest of your problems never happen if your pard just opens 2♦!!! -
my pet peeve is people who get aggravated when other people excercise a free choice which has no direct negative effect on them whatsoever.

Referee needed for off the rails bidding
fourdad replied to Corral_2's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
First error is not Bidding 1NT. The rest is effect of that error. -
Do you think that 4nt, without a self sufficient spade suit, or a known fit and with your partner showing 10 points is the best possible description of your hand? If not what bid does? If so, why?

Been that way for years...standard "expert" is sometimes still "stone age" -
if na frog had wings he would not bust his butt when he hops. return a diamond please!
-
so your robot, looking at ATx in spades and T8 of diamonds decides a spade is best? This is why no one should play with bots. Most of my human pds would have led a diamond instead of the 7S.......hopefully. I did bid them afterall.
-
I agree with mike777 100%!

3♣ It should at least be an option in the poll
-
because 3d is not a reverse. It is a jump shift.
