  1. Seems to me that the entire bidding sequence is convoluted. As a passed hand, what is wrong with just accurately describing a fit and 10+ points with a jump raise to 3H right off the bat?
  2. I absolutely agree with the above and wonder why one would chose to open a 5 card suit when one has a 6 card suit that is stronger.
  3. I absolutely agree that the culprit is the 1H open! That 1 point IS the difference between the J and the Q!!
  4. The fact that this is even a discussion is an offshoot of BBO bridge play that, for the most part, do not allow for solid partnership agreements as we play with so many different people. With a regular partner, we would have already agreed that a X of a game bid is for penalty. If a pair wants to agree differently, more power to them, but there must be agreement or we are all playing kitchen table bridge.
  5. Pass and pass.,,,,in 1st and 2nd chair. open otherwise. 2.5 quick tricks is tempting, but without a suit it is off...subject to partnershipo agreement as always.
  6. IMO, any bid but 3!h, preemptive, is double dummy. it is the most descriptive of your hand and if pd cannot bid again game is unlikely.
  7. If you pull it a bad hand is your fault. If you leave it pard's fault! LEAVE IT!!
  8. Seems to me that if the hand was good enough for N to think of slam, it was good enough for N to completely describe the strength of the hand by bidding 3D, 2D shows a minimum and 3NT would be a shut out. If N bids the 16-18 point jump raise, then S should be excited for slam and ask aces.
  9. I am conflicted between xfer then RKC and blasting 6NT. If after RKC, pad shows 2, then 6NT, if not, 5S. The blast is gambling that even if off 2 aces, they are not in one hand and there is still a good chance in play.
  10. This is only a problem because 1NT is forcing as a passed hand! Can't wait to see your partners hand, as I am betting a pass of 1NT would have been a more than reasonable, if not best, choice. 1NT forcing here begs the question, "how will you ever know if your pd opened light?" 1NT forcing is a systemic flaw that needs correcting.
  11. WHY NOT REMOVE THE REASON FOR RUNNING IN A TOURNAMENT? People run to avoid bad results. Seems to me that this is easy to do by having the software post the results as if the runner never left. That is, do NOT record the hands as played by the sub. Why should a subs rating go down because they sit in with a bad partner?
  12. I am "fourdad" on BBO. My CC is posted in my profile. Love defence and know that PASS is a good bid, too!! :)
