  1. Frankly, these kind of questions drive me nuts. Why play a convention that leads to these questions? Is it not clear that the 2H bid is a reverse showing 16+? Is it not clear that the 2H bid shows stoppers in Clubs and hearts? Does not N have 10+ points and a Diamond stopper? Why is not his simplest least complicated most informative action to not just add the 10 he has to the 16 partner has shown and bid 3NT? No confusion, no disaster, best contract reached. Bippity boppity BOO!!
  2. Did anyone open 3NT? Responder could then value his hand at 8 points in clubs and ask aces.
  3. or...just stop playing IMPs and let your perfectionism RULE!!!
  4. Is there a reason to ignore that 2C is 22-23+ OR a maximum of 4 losers? Given that agreement and continuing to rebid hearts by opener, a clear picture of the hand should be obvious to partner.
  5. I am with you. You have sufficient to bid again and strong 4 spades.
  6. If my partner did not show diamond control, I would not bid the slam!! I have used Romex for 40 years and find that, while nothing is perfect the advantages of knowing exact controls far outweighs the type of hand you invented.
  7. This is why I use Romex Gerber....I only care about controls. What is the point of telling partner about the double fit? Whatever system you are playing, partners 2nd bid completes the description of his hand, which males you the captain. Do you plan on telling him you have 5 hearts as well? If you have the controls slam is the percentage play. If you do not 4H should be a lay down.
  8. play small and then change your defensive agreements so you avoid even having to ask the question
  9. Experts with highly refined partnership agreements do a lot of things that the rest of the bridge world should not. Generally, I do not open NT with a 6 card suit or 2 dbltns.
  10. Plan your play before you play a card. COUNT!! Are you in the correct contract? At NT count sure winners first. At suit count sure losers first. Then figure out how to maximize the results. If a card MUST be in a specific opponents hand in order to make...play like it is there!
  11. Without agreement, if pd can still have 4 spades for the 1♥ bid, I prefer 1♠.
  12. did humiliating another human for a human error make you feel better?
  13. Are questions that depend solely on partnership agreements really helpful at all?
  14. duck a diamond.....5D, 2C, 3H and a spade minimum unless diamonds are 4-0.
  15. a lot of people just hesitate to play with new members....simple as that.
  16. It's called "dummy" for a reason! B-)
  17. OR, the partnership should have a better defined overcall protocol. I prefer weaker lead directing overcalls w/ regular pds, hence E would not count the W hand for strength and would read club shortness with heart length as a misfit hand. How does N-S do if E passes 2H? Would love to see the whole hand.
  18. Missing 21 HCP. Playing N for AKQ of D, based on the opening lead and QC for returning the club. Giving S KJ of spades for his bid. Only AQ of hearts is missing and I would play S for AH for his 1S freebid.
